During the second visit, they advised me that they needed to transport me to the Northeast Medical facility in Concord by way of ambulance. They said that Albemarle did not have a staff urologist, and that I may have severe kidney damage as a result of the stone and needed to see a urologist ASAP. At the time I was medicated and pain-free. My wife and I both asked if the ambulance ride was necessary or if she could drive me to Northeast Medical herself. They were quite emphatic about me going in the ambulance, stating that I may jeopardize my insurance claim and would be going 'against medical orders' if she drove me there. Additionally they said that we would have to start paperwork over once I got there if I arrived by car. They disconnected my IV and transported me by ambulance to Concord. At no time in the ambulance or at Northeast Medical was the IV line reconnected. Additionally, no tests or diagnostic procedures were performed to warrant the ambulance ride and visit to Concord. Once I got to Northeast Medical, I was told by a urology assistant that Albemarle had 'jumped the gun' and sent me there prematurely and that they were sending me home. Additionally, a nurse there told us that we should not have to pay for the ambulance ride since this trip was unnecessary. We have been billed by Stanly County Emergency Services for $554.72. Northeast Medical also billed us $124.48 for this visit. These are our out-of-pocket charges after insurance write-downs. We have protested with Blue Cross/Blue Shield, Carolinas HealthCare, and Stanly County Emergency Services. The ambulance ride was completely needless especially since my wife could have easily driven me. I believe the responsibility for this waste is squarely on the CHS emergency room. I have made several calls to CHS about this and have had no action other than repeated billing by Stanly Emergency Services for the ambulance trip.

I went in to Atrium health Stanley ER in Albemarle NC with extreme pain pressure in upper left back…read moreby neck. I was there from about 10:45 am to about 4:30 pm. They did do a X-ray and CT scan and some blood work. I have several abnormal blood test results, high blood pressure. I fell asleep due to no sleep night before and long wait in ER. I'm elderly and on a lot of meds so I sleep hard, I'm not easy to wake up. I wake up to a cop going through my purse. I never gave permission for this but I did when I woke up. I was treated horribly after this. I was told I abused my meds. This was humiliating and I became angry the longer I sat there. I was dismissed after this,no diagnosis for what I came in for. I was still in pain and my left shoulder and arm are getting weak now. I cannot go into every detail on here but md had no medical testing to back up his accusations. He embarrassed me in front of everyone in ER. There are no medical, personal reviews or diagnosis to back him. I have medical and personal files to back me. I understand they deal with drug overdoses but this doesn't mean they can treat everyone like they do. I gave them no medical reasons to treat me medically or personally like they did. I'm so embarrassed, humiliated and still in pain, worse pain actually than when I arrived at ER. I want and deserve a apology from Dr Patrick Robinson and Atrium health Stanley ER in Albemarle NC. I will get what was recorded in my medical files from this md ASAP. I will not accept less. I'm not looking for financial gains just apology and personal accusations wiped from my medical files. I hid nothing from them the moment I came in to when I left. I don't recommend anyone seeking this md and I don't recommend a hospital who backs a md treating their patients like this. I will be pursuing my apologies through lawyers, no financial gains.

Considering Dr. Joseph Zucker and Stanly Regional Medical Center for surgery? You may want to…read moreconsider my wife's experience and other patient reviews before committing. On 2/6/2012, she filed a complaint about Zucker with the NC Medical Board. That board does not reveal the existence or nature of complaints to it, but here is the gist of her review. On 12/20/2011, Zucker replaced her hip joint at Stanly Regional Medical Center in Albemarle, NC. She was left with no control of her leg or foot below her knee. Nerves in her leg were damaged from her hip to her foot. Walking is extremely painful and she must lift her foot abnormally high to keep her toes from scraping on the floor or ground and to keep from tripping. Normal sleep is no longer possible for her because of severe foot pain. Her present neurosurgeon has said her condition will be permanent and that her pain may be permanent. Emotionally, she experiences increasing depression, fear, and anxiety. Driving her car was impossible because she could not engage the clutch. So she used our meager funds to buy a different car. There are numerous medical expenses that we pay. Stanly Regional Medical Center and Zucker have, so far, billed $44,570.64 for the job they did on her. It is too late for her. She is permanently crippled. But you still have time to do your homework and make correct decisions.
