The interior was clean and contemporary, but this club has not yet received the makeover that AA is planning for all its clubs. Staff were quite welcoming and friendly, and there were staff cleaning up and regularly collecting used plates and glasses. There were several small buffets of hot and cold dishes. The best part of clubs outside the U.S. is the open bar which features plenty of self service booze. They made a boarding announcement in the club which gave us just the right amount of time to walk to the gate and arrive just as boarding began. Definitely visit this club if you're eligible and flying out of Rio!

My only complain for this airport would be if it were a bit more organized, there was a lot of people & seemed like it was not as clear to view flight info on the monitors. For such a big airport overall it was as easy as u can expect, no crazy delays & plenty of options to help u pass the time.

We sat near the bar, as the sun went down. The service is good. We've The ox rib and spicy tuna. The big chunk of ox rib is tender but salty. The mushroom rice isn't fully cooked, and they added some cream. Please pretty please, don't mess with my rice, just fully cook it with water. (Guess this is hard ...). The tuna isn't fresh. The rice they used is better than the side, the mushroom rice.

The information about lounges at GIG is very confusing on the Internet, particularly for AA flyers…read more Supposedly, there was once an Admirals club here, and still may be again, but the supposed former club has been closed I believe for at least a year. In comes the GOL Smiles Lounge, serving seemingly every international airline under the sun, including American. There is a small, but appointed self-service complimentary bar, with beer, water and pops in the fridge. All sorts of pre-packaged breads are available, and little hot bites will occasionally come out of the kitchen - they run out very fast though. The lounge is small, so don't expect a ton of room to spread out. The showers are what saved the day for me. I had spent the whole day at the beach and running around Rio, and was filthy by the time I got to the airport for a 10+ hour flight back to the states. I was under the impression showers were available, but wasn't sure, and was ready to be a major smelly distraction for the poor soul next to me. Alas, not only were there plenty of shower rooms, but they were comfortable and spacious. So... 4 stars. Not like the totally awesome Centurion Club I'll be heading to once I hit Dallas, and not really up to par with the Admirals Clubs I'm also used to, but for meeting and exceeding my expectations, and for being less dumpy than United's clubs, GOL Smiles - you get four stars.

Yelp Review 2025 #195:…read more A domestic airport connecting Rio to different parts of Brazil. It's a smaller airport but it's super close to the heart of Rio. From Lapa, it only takes about 15 minutes to get to Santos Dumont Airport. The only irritating part I've experienced here was nobody seems to be able to help me at the ticketing office and check-in counter at LATAM to get an upgrade. Their app won't let me upgrade after multiple attempts so I decided, I'll do it in person. But nope, they're not helpful. Aside from that, I liked flying out of this airport. It has a shopping area and a hotel connected to the airport. Starbucks is on the same floor as the check-in counters before security. There's a McDonald's and a bunch of Brazilian eateries. There are shops you can get gifts, souvenirs, coffee, chocolate, toys, etc. The best part is its proximity to Sugarloaf Mountain. You can see it as you're taxiing on the runway, at takeoff/ landing.

They…read moredidn't notify us that our flight was canceled, we kept trying to check in but it wouldn't allow us and then went to got to the airport they told us that our particular flight had been canceled they would put us on a different flight. We had time to walk around, and shop, and go get a beer. We went to Cafe Puey and Monterio was fantastic, even though he spoke no English, he was willing to help us. Then our friend showed up and told us to go outside right around the corner from the airport and there was a little mall, that was fun. I WOULD go back.
