Good place for lunch. The grilled meat along with rice and beans is really good. Also got the paella which was good, bit dry. Ceviche was also quite good. Barzin was right around the corner from our apartment in Rio. Several beers were had there, not just including the late-night variety, of which I'll provide an example here: Best, or at least longest-enduring memory of Barzin was when they had karaoke on the 3rd floor. I signed up, not realizing it was the pinnacle of karaoke experiences -- live band karaoke. Hostess gave everyone a shot before performing, and the band was extremely talented. Very expensive, and the food had no flavor at all. The service was good up until the point I made a polite comment that both dishes were very bland. The seafood in the linguini was hard and undercooked, and my chicken sandwich/fries tasted as if they forgot salt. I used to go here pretty often, once a month or so. It's a standard bar, nothing special and the kind of place you'll probably forget about once you leave. Went back and it was not good. Half of their beer selection was out. As in gone to another bar, which is exactly what I did after tasting the chopp. My friend said it was just flat, but I'm pretty sure it was watered down. It had almost no flavor whatsoever. The quality has definitely declined and I probably won't be going back. The food is good but depending on what you get. I came for a lunch special that offered a protein (chicken Parmesan, grilled chicken, shrimp, or salmon) and 4 sides for R$24. The portions were really great and the salmon was fantastic but the chicken was a miss so I guess things are hit or miss. The sides, however, were tasty and came in generous portions. Go immediately to the first floor which is cozy and on a busy day fool of beautiful cariocas (they'll give you a plastic card which you use to order, and pay at the cashier at the end). They have a club on the next floor, but make sure to check what's going on before heading over there. Service like many places in Rio... rather average. read more

Food was pretty good, but on the salty side. There's a nice atmosphere at night and you can sit on the open patio. They have TVs as well in case you want to catch a game. I had the Picadinho Barzin and would only recommend the dish if you need your salt intake for the day. Prices are reasonable for mains and range from 30-80 reals. read more
