I had the displeasure of choosing them as FFLs. They denied me my lower because they supposedly know how military orders should look like better than my duty station (they even implied they were fake). They even refused to send it to another FFL that would do the service and called them saying that I was trying to do something illegal. Now my lower is with them and supposedly they will send it back to the maker. Avoid this place like a plague. It's only headaches and false accusations. Go to Academy instead. They have any thing you would need for hunting there. More of a hunting/gun store than a pawn shop. Located right off Fort Polk military base. But they are very over priced. They employees are helpful but not over bearing, and for the most part know what they are talking about. If you need anything archery, this is the place. read more

Such a pain in the rear to deal with. I've never been to an FFL that makes you bring two forms of ID and makes you sign multiple waivers while they slowly run your NICS check. Having weapons delivered to them from an online purchase is a total pain because if you come into the store after you get your delivery notice and they haven't contacted you after "they've registered it into their own system," they get uppity give you a hard time. What a rip off. They use to match prices, know they sale the same products that you can get locally for double the price. Noticed they had pieced guns together with lower end parts and priced 4x what it would cost if you bought it out right. Went to Star today to trade guns. Sat in the store for 45 minutes or so while they looked up my guns and came back to me for $800 total. Sat around for another hour and a half while they did the paperwork. Then the manager decides to offer me $200 less than he originally did. Apparently 2 hours isn't long enough to properly assess the value of something. Enjoy it Star. I will be buying the same gun elsewhere. Very unfortunate circumstances that I have encountered at this store. I have purchased a couple of guns here and had great things to say and was excited to show my loyalty to this company by ordering a specific gun thru them. I never had issues before and the owner was great to talk to. After a couple of weeks I was informed that they could not acquire the gun I had ordered until spring. I had to request a refund of my money and order elsewhere. This was not an issue and as I had felt bad about canceling my order used their FFL to ship the gun I ordered thru somewhere else. At this point I had no issues with them. I walked in after about a week with my wife looking for a gun for her and I inquired about a gun I had seen previously and wanted my wife to see. The owners wife was handling another customer and then rudely asked are you intending to buy it today or did you just walk in to see it and plan to but it somewhere else. This was no off the wall comment it was very much aimed at me in a very rude and snide fashion. With this kind of disrespect for loyal customers. It is my intention to no longer purchase any gun or anything else thru them. read more
