They had him sort, count, repeat syllables, recognize patterns, identify various items/numbers/letters, and numerous other tasks to determine where he was developmentally and intellectually. WELL, he did amazing! What the facilitator and I were most surprised about was his letter recognition skills. So much so, that the woman asked me IF HE COULD READ! I know my son is a smart boy, but seeing him excel so far into the testing really blew all of us away! I just wanted to recognize and thank all of his teachers and the staff at KinderCare because, really, I owe it to everyone who has been teaching him and helping him learn more and more everyday. They communicate with me on a daily basis about my girls accomplishments as well as the areas that they need some more help with. They have become part of our family and we love them. Kerri, the Center Director communicates with us constantly about what's going on in the center, the fun activities that they have planned and anything else that is going on with my child. She greets each child with a warm welcome each day and always has a special story about my children to share with me letting me know that she sees each child as an individual. The staff to child ratio is wonderful - only 8 other kids in his group. Food is included in the weekly cost, and I appreciate that he's trying new foods, and I am not having to pack food for 2 kids each morning. (He has a sister in first grade.) The app Kindercare uses is great! You get notifications of pretty much everything - what he eats, when he naps, and even when they change him and if it's wet - if it's pee or #2. We also get photos sent throughout the day and it makes me so happy to see him having fun. The long hours at Kindercare work for our family. We drop our son off before 8:15 am to get breakfast. The teachers at all levels are nurturing while allowing each child to individually (at their own pace) reach and/or exceed their potential. Especially notable is the arts program and the extended theater program which allows children to perform in plays providing them the confidence to speak in public. The enrichment classes allow preschoolers to practice being on stage, elementary students to join various sports activities, and kindergartners through middle schoolers to join larger productions (such as Annie and Seussical). My children have graduated college, but still fondly remember their Bay Farm experiences.
