Place has changed/remodeled. Prices for the food you have to buy has increased too. I guess it is just the sign of the times. The last time I went here was NYE 18. Lavar Crawford was preforming. Mr. Crawford brought out his best work for the crowd. I digress, The servers, are not ever seen during the show except to take orders and drop you tab at the end. Don't expect refills or more food. I couldn't find any reviews of the drag brunch before going today so I wanted to share one for everyone thinking of going. Overall, I would recommend seeing the monthly drag brunch here. The set up at Stardome is perfect for a drag brunch; all of the seating is pretty great. Don't go expecting a great brunch though. The waffles that come with the chicken and waffles are quite literally frozen eggo waffles and the "breakfast potatoes" are French fries. Brought friends from Mississippi tonight and my mouth is still sore from laughing. What I really liked was a mixed crowd of black and white and a mixture of comedians. The StarDome gave me free tickets to check out Tony Tone. That was so nice of them to do that, so I took a few girlfriends and had a girls night out. The StarDome used to have a $10 minimum requirement but I was told since they have a new menu, it is now a two item requirement. So I decided to get a soda and try their grilled chicken and shrimp Cajun pasta. And I must say, it was pretty good. The ingredients were fresh and the dish was seasoned very well. I wish they had more vegan options because my friend couldn't eat most of the items on the menu so she decided to just order a soda and some wine. Besides the food, the service was decent but once we got our food, we didn't see our waiter for awhile. Also once the show was over, we had to wait awhile to pay for our food. Besides that, the show was great. I thought the first comedian was going to get booed off the stage. Being a comedian is a tough job, and you have to have thick skin. The comedian Tony Tone was too funny!! He is very talented and had us laughing the entire time. The StarDome is a historic comedy club. I have always enjoyed coming to the Stardome for comedy shows but this time I was here for the Karaoke night. They have a happy hour drink menu which is nice. I enjoyed my drink that I had. The spinach dip that I ordered was not amazing and was a little cold with minimum flavor. The wings were better that we ordered with the sampler platter. The platter had a lot of food that you could split with someone or two. My service was pretty good especially since we came with a large party, The staff were accommodating with letting us sit in the sky box so we could all be together. The show was fun as usual and the atmosphere was welcoming. Will defiantly be back again soon. Note:They have changed the minimum from $10 to a two item purchase so be prepared. 4 stars because I thought the space itself was great. It was nicer than some other comedy clubs I've been to. The waiters realized that we would have been a little cramped so they removed one of the chairs from our row which I really appreciated. 3 stars for the comedy that night, but I feel like comedy is a hit or miss. Late Review...been to stardome numerous times to see some of my favorite comics and they all were hilarious so I will definitely be back but my most recent visit during covid was definitely different but not all bad. Everyone was spaced out and the staff all wore masks. The waiters n waitresses were all great and on top of things but the menu was very limited. They still had the standard typical food. But once things are back to normal I'm hopeful they'll get more n better options. read more

I went with a group of coworkers & a great thing the club does is that they give away free tickets for your birthday. I thought the newly renovated place was very nice & clean. It seems to me that everyone has a good view of the stage. If you want to comedian to interact with you them you need to be right up front so they can see you. I had a Moscow Mule, the BBQ chicken fingers, & French fries & all were excellent. I the only minor annoyance I had all night is that the check includes the tip for the waiting staff. The only reason why the StarDome is getting a 2 star and not 1 is because they do bring in some decent comedians - other than that the location, food and service are awful. We went this past Thursday to see Vicki Barbolak. We got there early and it seemed dead. The parking was completely empty and we wondered if it was even open. The StarDome is located behind the Hoover Best Buy off Lorna Road. Parking doesn't have that much lighting and it seemed like it is in not the best of neighborhoods. The outside needs some major updating or simply more lighting to reveal what it's all about. The inside has potential though. I do like how the seating is arranged. I believe everyone can see the acts from any of the seats they choose to sit in. It just needs some TLC. The workers were friendly, but service and food were horrible. I can't stand having to pay so much for microwaved mediocre food. Thank God gratuity of 17% was automatically entered in your bill otherwise the poor waiter wouldn't get a tip. We ordered ~$9.00 appetizer of bacon wrapped pickles. We thought these were bacon wrapped *fried* pickles, but when they came out it literally was bacon wrapped around a plain pickle spear. We were so hungry that we ate it anyways, but it was not good. For our main meal we ordered a grilled chicken sandwich and fish tacos. Neither one of us ate our entire meal. The Tacos were supposed to come out with chips and salsa as the side. When my meal came out there was no salsa. I asked for it and noticed it on our ticket that they charged us ~$3.00 extra to have it. It clearly said in the menu description that salsa was added. We didn't complain about it to the waiter because the service was horrible enough. We knew they'd find a way to mess that up and the $3.00 was not worth our time. The tacos tasted too fishy and was really spicy. I only had one bite. The grilled chicken was dry and plain. We kept saying we should have brought our own sauces or spices. Such a bummer. The only thing that was good was my drink - the woowoo. It was a beachy type martini. For the show aspect of things - the main comedian and her 1st act were great! It was exactly why we came. As for the host, we felt like he needed a little more practice or to simply loosen up a bit. He came out with notecards and it just seemed too "power point presentation" to us. He - too - has potential and seemed like a genuine guy. Maybe the night we went was just an off night, but hopefully they can pull some things together for an improvement. During our birthday month which is In January we get three free shows. Myself, Fiance, and sister. The food is alright, but the comedians are always funny. I've seen Mike Epps, Pops, Brandon Smiley, Tennessee Tramp, and so many more. This is a great place for up and coming comedians trying to make it. Clean restrooms. Drinks and food delivered fast. (First round is always a little slow but that is expected) Some recent positive changes: Forced Gratuity has been eliminated off the check. Things I would change: Don't force customers to buy tickets in pairs. I brought 3 people and had to pay for 4 seats. Not cool. The new seating arrangement is awful! We went with couple friends and everybody is in lines facing the stage. Only a few tables in the whole place where you could sit and interact with the people you came with. The chairs are packed in so our elbows are all touching each other. You have to push your chair all the way back to stand up because there is zero space between chairs. They added probably 20% more people but the kitchen is apparently the same size! It took one and a half hours to get our food!!!!!!! Zero apologies. 18% tip is automatically added to your ticket!!!! The "Philly cheese steak" bun was only 2/3 full, no peppers and onions, overcooked meat. The pre-show videos are filled with dancing girls that are wearing thongs and stuff. Not what my wife wants to watch, hello? The loud musical sounds and announcements hit 100 decibels on my iPhone app. (that is loud enough to cause pain!!!!). The whole night was so stressful we could not enjoy the show and the great comedy. WE WILL NOT BE BACK EVER. I've been too the Stardome several times now and I decided to come see Marlon Wayne's I really enjoyed the show and he was very funny but the service here was absolutely terrible it's bad enough that the Stardome adds the tip with your total which I understand that some places do things differently then others. Our waitress was not good at she had a very bad attitude and was very forceful in trying to make us order something and didn't allow us the chance to really look at the menu she didn't even check on us to make sure that we needed anything or if I wanted another drink. I understand the fact that the servers there have multiple people to attend, to make sure food and drinks are served in a timely manner but I do feel like she could have provided better customer service. I love a good joke. Where else can you go to get good laughs, good drinks, & good food?! (If you know of somewhere else, let me know) My coworker Sharon got free tix for her bday & invited me to come along. Not my first time here, but who thinks to review The Stardome?! The comedians were awesome! We laughed the entire time we were in our seats. I ordered the Potato Skins (minus bacon) as my starter, not realizing it was coming out with my meal. But nonetheless, they were bomb. So bomb, I practically ate that as my meal! There were 5-6 halves with cheese. Lettuce & sour cream came in the side. They were hot so blow! I also ordered the Cajun Pasta with Shrimp minus the Andouille sausage! This no pork thing is gonna kill me.... It was delicious! It was seasoned so well, I didn't have to add a thing except butter to my dinner roll! It was so much that I didn't eat it all! (Lunch for the next day) Applebee's could take a cue from their book on the pasta! I also got to taste the chicken quesadilla & it was good too!!! The chicken was well seasoned! This place was great! I wish we had a place like this in the Montgomery area, but it's not a bad drive up to B'ham; especially for a date night at a comedy club. The bartender made us a really good Turkey 101 & coke (more Turkey than coke, just how we like it ) before the doors opened for the show, and the owner hung out with us for a bit chit-chatting; I can't recall the performers that night but there were 3 guys, two starters and the headliner, and all were very entertaining. I really enjoyed the acts at my show. Henry Cho was the headliner and I was really impressed the club can attract nationally known acts to Birmingham. The seating is nicely arranged so everyone can get a good view of the stage. My main issue is with the food/beverage purchase requirement. I understand why they need the requirement because the ticket prices themselves are not high and probably can't cover the talent. But if you're going to force us to eat there, at least make the food taste good. I ordered a salad with chicken and the chicken was completely bland and the croutons burnt. I split a brownie sundae with my date and the quality of the ice cream used was low (could taste ice crystals with each bite). My drink order was a dirty martini and there was not enough olive brine in there which threw off the taste. There isn't much to say about this place...It is a comedy club, some of the comedians are funny and some not so much. I did take the liberty to order food while here. Their Tilapia Fish Tacos are pretty darn good and the service is just okay. Lincoln was my server and he was very nice and very efficient, but sadly after he brought my food he never returned. I would definitely return and i'd definitely try other menu choices as well. As for their cocktails, I've had the Woo Woo and it was pretty good, but just like going to a bar it was juiced down. They had great guys here last night. I left with the back of my head throbbing. Tony was amazing and so was his opening acts. The Woo Woo drink special for the night were delicious. I had two of them lol. I also ordered wings hot lemon pepper lmao. The wings came red but dry to touch and the lemon pepper was on the side. I asked for more sauce to actually sauce the wings and added the lemon pepper myself. I was given one stick of celery that was maybe a week old so declined to eat that. I didn't complain since I was out with a new friend but they know them damn wings were bad off and they gave me all drums. To me this comedy club wasnt really all that but who should complain about free? Me and a couple of my frat brothers gotten together to celebrate our anniversary. One of my brothers had gotten free tickets but only 3 of us showed up. The drinks were pretty cool but seem to been mossing something. This was my first trip to the StarDome and while I wasn't all that impressed, I wasn't completely disappointed either. My boyfriend won some tickets so we went with a group of friends. We arrived about twenty minutes before the show started but couldn't go in because the meet and greet wasn't over from the previous show. Fast forward 45 minutes and the crowd outside had tripled but we still weren't allowed in. It was really annoying because we weren't allowed to wait inside so we had to all squeeze under the awning outside because it was raining. When we finally did get inside, I was surprised about how nice the place was. It was setup with a type of amphitheater seating with a nice sized stage at the bottom. We were quickly seated but it took a while for the waitress to come around and take our food and drink order. We ordered a gin and tonic, beer and some fries with bacon and cheese. My beer was cold, his drink was good and the fries were okay. The food certainly isn't anything to write home about but it was okay for the price. The show started off very good. I really liked the opener guy but I'm not sure if it was because he was clearly drunk or if he was really funny? What I do know is that he was much more entertaining than the main act, which was Kenny Smith. He begun his act pretty well but just became less funny and more awkward as his act progressed. He was just really bad and not at all impressive. Considering all things, I'll be back some time to give this place another try but for now it's just "meh". read more
