We had used another company in the past but after inquiring felt Party Host Helpers were more organized and straightforward. We hired them because we needed the service and were overwhelmed without the help. I received an automated email 2 days later saying our deposit was refunded but no apology or acknowledgement of how inconvenienced we were. I do not recommend risking it by hiring them. It doesn't seem like they are able to oversee or manage their staff properly.

I had planned almost every detail of the wedding and knew exactly how I envisioned my big day but the problem was I could not oversee the coordination of all the vendors/individuals in the execution of my plans. However, Wendy seemed to take over flawlessly and made sure everything happened EXACTLY as I had hoped. My fiance and I were beyond thankful for her because she really enabled us to enjoy every moment of our big day!! When tiny things went wrong (and of course something will go wrong!) - Wendy always had a creative solution and did her absolute best to take care of it as quickly and quietly as possible. I was especially thankful for Wendy because I my niece (the flowergirl) had an issue come up and was unable to make it to the wedding ceremony with her dad so we were unable to get a complete family photo right after the ceremony. Literally the best combination you can ask for in an event coordinator. Last month I was at a Thanksgiving Dinner done by Wendy (and her assistants) that was phenomenal. The "flow" of the dinner and throughout the entire evening was exceptional. And, it was incredibly MEMORABLE! If you don't have time or energy for all the work that goes into an event, hire a true professional. I have made the mistake in the past of not working with a pro. "It's Your Day" is perfectly named. She quickly took the reigns and established contact with our vendors to set up a comprehensive timeline, ensuring that everything on the big day would go according to plan. A week and a half before the wedding, she met us at the venue and did a walk through with management, figuring out how the different parts of the day would flow, asking questions we hadn't even thought to ask. On the day of, Carly set up all of our DIY decorations and flowers BEAUTIFULLY and, in concert with the venue, she managed the flow of the entire day, making sure everyone was where they were supposed to be at all times. She handled all the payments for our vendors so we didn't have to worry - we could just sit back and enjoy our day. She seemed to be everywhere, and she was always right where we needed her, checking in on us, but never obtrusive in any way. Emily is insanely talented, amazingly organized, wonderfully resourceful, and above all else, a truly kind person. She started helping my husband and I plan our wedding about 2 years before our wedding day - and without a doubt planning a wedding from across the country would not have been possible without her. We realized again and again in the months leading up to our wedding we would not have been able to plan anything near what we had envisioned without her. Emily is wonderfully creative and paid such attention to every detail. She got to know us and made sure that the wedding was a reflection of "us" as a couple. One of our favorite moments from our wedding weekend was when Emily brought us into the reception space to see it fully transformed - we just couldn't believe how incredible everything was! I can't tell you how many people commented that it was one of the most beautiful and fun weddings - and also how "us" it was- all due to Emily's design and planning. Her creativity and tireless effort to make our day perfect left me in awe. She was attentive, available, and such a wonderful resource. She is calm, a great listener, and became a valuable friend through the wedding planning process. I have had a hard time deciding whether I wanted to make a negative review at all because my wedding was so positive, but I feel it is important for other brides to be made aware of this problem. I won't go into many details (although I did write notes in moments of frustration) but in summary she is very un-prompt in her responses (which towards the end not only is stressful but made things more expensive, like dropping the ball on candles and lanterns that should have been ordered a long time ago; I think I literally signed a contract with the person doing my lights for my tent two weeks before the wedding. It wasn't just me and my mom who were wondering what was going on, but my other vendors who were worried too). Everything that she was suppose to have control over was done last minute. The last month or so of my wedding planning was a lot more stressful then it needed to be because there were still questions unanswered. This was a time that I should have had everything completely ready to go, and everything was, except for items that she was "designing". She was cold and rude, when I was trying to be friendly and fun! All of my other vendors were super enthusiastic, friendly, accommodating and helpful throughout this process and I by no means was a difficult bride. Most of my tight knit group of vendors would respond to me within the hour, or definitely the day. I often didn't hear from her for days. On multiple occasions she referred to my "lower investment" which is why she couldn't do something. Not only is that entirely inappropriate, but in my eyes (and many of my vendors eyes as well) I was paying way too much for what I got (I paid $4600) And what I got was pretty much inspiration, some sourcing, and a little help the day of (which my day of coordinator could have done completely..emily was not there by the way, it was her assistant--courtney who was very nice!). I don't know if it was because of my "lower investment" that she didn't put as much time into my wedding, but her timeline was very off. In order to be successful in this business, you not only need to have the creative touch and ideas (which she definitely has), but you really need to be good with people, happy, organized, enthusiastic and eager to help. Also, she did not care about our budget. In the end my wedding was beautiful! Maybe it had a little to do with her, but I am pretty sure that without her it would have been beautiful too. And most definitely, much less stressful. It was my vision after all and my other vendors executed it flawlessly.

Megan Whithed from Tangorra Wedding Planning was our day-of coordinator for our May 30th wedding…read more Hiring a day-of coordinator was one of the best decisions we made during the planning process, and Tangorra Wedding Planning offers that service at a really great price. I first met with Megan months before our wedding and we had a couple of two-hour-long meetings before the week of our wedding, besides many emails and phone calls (she would even pick up her cell phone on her way to another client's reception to help me). We had already hired almost all our vendors, but Megan also helped me with DJ recommendations. The week before our wedding Megan did an amazing amount of behind-the-scenes work, coordinating a schedule with all our vendors, checking that no detail had been overlooked, and coordinating the drop-off of place cards and cake servers/toppers with me the day before the wedding. The big day came and....my husband and I enjoyed every minute of it! Most importantly, we didn't have to worry about anything, because Megan and her assistant made sure everything flowed smoothly and everyone was where they needed to be. All we had to think about was having fun and enjoying the beginning of our marriage. Tangorra Wedding Planning has a studio in the North End, in addition to Newburyport.
