I had a HORRIBLE experience today. I am only leaving two stars because I previously had a great experience with Dr. Woolfolk and I don't want to be cruel by tarnishing this business with 1 star reviews. The issue at hand today was an extreme lack of hospitality, customer service, and empathy from the dental hygienist Jean Anne Geroux. She was extremely condescending, passive aggressive, and told me to my face that I "wasted their time" as if I didn't just drive 7 hours to meet with Dr. Herring. The situation was that I came in to get an understanding of how much a procedure would cost, Dr. Herring gave me an answer and also wanted to do x-rays. I refused the x-rays because I already had my answer, and I wasn't 100% sure I was willing to drive back and forth from Texas to Mississippi. Since I wasn't sure, I decided not to have X-rays done until I was positive that I would go through them. I was not rude about it at all but I was met with the most grotesque attitude I have ever come across from a professional. There was absolutely no reason to treat a customer that way just because I refused a service. I'm an adult and I should be able to refuse services I don't want, especially if it's because I'm unsure if I'm going to commit to this procedure. The office manager was nice and spoke to me afterwards. She made the situation slightly better. But rest assured, I will NEVER be back. I was willing to pay this business $13,000+ for dental work. They just lost my money, future referrals, and my respect at the hands of Dental Hygienist Jean Anne Geroux. I would never want to have someone like her represent my business if she behaves this way behind closed doors. read more

Dr. Woolfolk was rude, did not communicate what was being done accurately, and rushed me and my family through like we were on an assembly line. I asked not to have him do my work anymore and started seeing Dr. Herring instead. On a visit when I was NOT scheduled to see Dr. Woolfolk, he inserted himself into a discussion inappropriately and aggressively, and yelled at me because I was dissatisfied and upset about his poor work and communication. He also advised us to get work done that I later found out was not required. I highly discourage anyone from selecting Dr. Woolfolk as your dentist. You may have to travel a few extra minutes to find another dental office, but you will be saving yourself a huge headache. (Apparently, Dr. Herring is his father-in-law which may be why they keep him around.) read more

The dentist our daughter saw was fine and this would be a 5 Star review had it not been for the admin staff. They greatly underestimated how much the patient portion would be. At one point, we had a conversation where we made a payment via debit over the phone for over $600. I was assured that we didn't owe another thing, that every single thing done to date was paid IN FULL. The administration person I was speaking to seemed surprised that our insurance didn't pay more toward the work than it did and suggested I call and ask why before we started the next phase. I did. Even though Starkville Smiles FILES our insurance, they are not a preferred provider. No matter, we had paid the $600+ up to date and simply had the work completed elsewhere that was a preferred provider. A few weeks later, we got a bill for an additional $406.00. I was very confused by this as I had been assured that we were fully paid as of several weeks prior. I was told with no small amount of sauciness that it isn't their job to tell the customer whether it it they are or are not preferred providers. Keep in mind, I was calling from out of state to arrange work to be done for our daughter who attends college in Starkville. I believe it's shabby not to tell me that bit after I pointedly asked if they took our insurance. All they said was "Absolutely, all the time!" It turns out our insurance wouldn't pay the normal portion because a preferred provider was located in Columbus, less than 25 miles away. While that too is shabby, I believe it was sorry customer service to tell me our insurance was accepted and filed "every day" when they knew full well, they were not a preferred provider and what a difference it could make. Because of our conversation regarding the $406 bill, I'm sure they knew exactly why the insurance company covered a smaller amount than usual. I still believe it to be very shabby treatment of a customer calling from out of state because my assumption when I ask if you take our insurance and you cheerfully reply "Absolutely, every day" is that the office IS a preferred provider. So if you learn nothing else from this, know to ask any doctor or dental office if they are a preferred provider for your particular insurance. read more
