Our family, from the very first visit, felt at home, not at a church. I was not brought up in church, my husband attended on off and on in his teens.
We had a 12 year old, a 5 year old and a 6 mo. when we started going to Starlight in 1997. We felt so welcomed and so loved on that first day and after hearing Pastor Riggs preach we ended up accepting Christ as our Savior and joining the church. From then on we got on fire for the Lord. He became the Sunday School director and I'm the secretary. We also became the custodians when our children were small and we are still cleaning the church to this day. My husband has taught our bus teens and now is teaching our bus boys. I have gone to church camp 20 years as a counselor, I can tell you I always come back with just as many stories as the kids do. We have activities, VBS, Church Camp, Youth Converences, boys and girls clubs, just to mention a few and we have so many activities for our Senior Sanits. There's just not enough room to tell you everything wonderful about this church. All 3 of our children accepted Christ in their own time. This church has the best children workers who can put the Bible in terms that even the smallest of children can understand. When our children went through the teen department they were very involved with all the outreach programs they did back then. Covid stopped all of our outreach programs. Which is really sad, because that's the only way people are going to hear about God. We had at least 6-7 bus routes at one time going out to bring children and teens to hear the Word of God preached. So many will be in heaven beacause of the dedication of all the bus workers, the bus drivers, the mechanics and of course our Preacher who has a heart for children. We also ran several vans to go pick up people and bring them to church. So people who were older and didn't drive, or those who didn't have a car and so on, we made sure it was possible for them to come. We are just now getting our bus routes going again and our vans are out picking up people. God has been good to Starlight during COVID our members stayed faithful in their giving and watching livestream. We are back to a church where we are a family again. People need people, it's that simple. If you are looking for a home church that you love coming to Sunday morning, Sunday night and Wednesday night to see your family, Starlight is your home. After 24 years we still feel at home. Our Pastor lives what he preaches. You don't have to worry about him standing there behind the pulpit preaching and then living differently outside of church. He will be the first to tell you, that he's still a sinner saved by grace and makes mistakes just the same as you and I. You can find bad apples in any place you go, so I'm not saying that everyone who attends lives the same. But, one thing I will tell you is that if you mess up somehow, this church will accept you with open arms. We are all sinners saved by grace. There is not a member of Starlight that won't tell you that they live everything that is preached but we have a loving and forgiving God if you truly repent. But the church still loves you and will help you through your difficult times. I pray that you would consider giving Starlight a try, I'm sure you will find the most loving and caring people around. The best Pastor around, he is sought out by many churches to come preach at. But, he believes in being in his home church, so very seldom does he go off to preach elsewhere. All 5 of his children are in the ministry, one Pastor Sam, is our Co-Pastor here at Starlight. His many grandchildren (I lost count lol) are also involved in the ministry. Not sure what else I could put in here to convience anyone that this church is our home and you should come and make it yours.
