I took my watch to be repaired at Starnes. They didn't have the parts to repair it. So they sent it off to have it fixed. I did not hear from them for a LONG time. Yesterday I called them. They DID have my watch. They apologized but I wasn't even mad. So I picked it up. It cost me $165 to have it fixed. Then last night when I was taking it off the band fell apart. Starnes watches are expensive but worse quality than what you get at Wal-mart. read more

I had to have 3 rings cut off of my ring finger due to swelling in my finger. Gene took the time and tried not to do too much damage to the rings. He was successful in getting them off (which took a lot longer than expected). I will have to have them resized and will return when my finger is back to a somewhat normal size. He was very patient and kind. read more

My husband bought my engagement ring from here. He had went in and looked around at their selection and liked this place better than most he'd been in. He narrowed it down between 3 he really liked and decided to bring me in to choose my favorite. Everything in there was SO beautiful! After going back and forth 100 times I finally chose my ring! It was wonderfully priced even before they had marked it down about $300. Everyone was EXTREMELY nice and helpful. They had to send it off for resizing on a Monday and I had it on my finger on Thursday. I'd love to do business again with them someday. (Maybe a nice watch for our 1 year anniversary!) read more

The Starnes and Parker families erected a building in the downtown commercial district of Albemarle in 1907 with two businesses downstairs and an opera house upstairs. One of these businesses, Starnes Jewelers, has been continuously operated by the Starnes family since the building was built. Francis Eugene Starnes is the third in a line of the Starnes family to enhance the town of Albemarle with their presence. Over 100 years ago a young man, upon stopping to repair a bicycle tire, noticed an old horseshoe lying on the side of the road near Albemarle. F. E. Starnes, founder, picked it up and kept it for good luck. That horseshoe is still at Starnes Jewelry Store. The business has flourished ever since.

I chose Starnes Jewelers because they were the most honest, genuine, educated, and caring jewelry store I went to. There was no pressure when I went into Starnes jewelers and my fiancée recently returned to Starnes to have her diamond engagement ring cleaned and Mr. Starnes treated her like a queen and made her feel very special. read more
