They are really friendly, helpful and have very competitive prices. The flowers are very beautifully arranged in bunches if you need something pre-done and ready for a special occasion, or there is an ample selection available that you can have made up at your request; or buy a bunch of random bits and pieces and arrange for yourself at home if you want to get creative. The flowers have also been consistently fresh, so quality is guaranteed. They have another store in Henderson, 229 Lincoln Road, according to their business card, but I have not been in there yet, so cannot review that one until then!

On my most recent visit I also discovered that they have those washable paper bag/pot type things, you know the ones that you see in all the trendy cafes these days. I got a white one with big black crosses and have put a large orchid in it - looks wonderful! With the amount I was willing to spend, I wasn't expecting anything amazing. I ended up calling Roses on Friday afternoon to arrange 3 bouquets to be picked up on Saturday at 2pm. I told the florist to surprise me and just give me what they could. On saturday, the day of the pageant I got so overwhelmed I forgot to pick up the flowers. Thankfully I got a call and when I explained I wouldn't make it to the florist before it closed, the florist offered to leave the flowers at the shop next door to be picked up and I could leave the money there. When the flowers finally arrived to the venue, they where so beautiful and I could not believe I had only spent $50.

The lady was friendly, chatty in a quiet way. I would go back if it wasn't for the fact I already have a favourite florist, a wholesalers in New Lynn, plus a silly lil' thing bugs me about this place - the name, modern twists on names, grrrrrr.......

But it does come with a price. It's quite an expensive store and even things that are kind of disposable (like novelty bachelorette/bachelor night stuff etc) are sold at a premium price. But it's actually one of the very few places where you can find different, fun stuff. I really like their greeting cards too, there are quite a few funny novelty ones and they're always a bit of a laugh to look through. If you're trying to find a fun gift for someone who's hard to shop for or one of those people who kind of have everything they need, this is the shop to go to.

Just a tiny store, most of Ponsonby Flowers' flowers are displayed on the street. And I love it. The arrangements brighten up the entire block of shops and definitely work to attract customers! Sunflowers, gerberas, tulips, roses - Ponsonby Flowers has a great variety of flowers available and the prices are really reasonable. Plus, the couple that own it are absolutely lovely. When I stopped to smell the roses - literally - the woman came out of the store and stood with me chatting about the nice weather and her favourite flowers. It's a tiny place,…read morebut crammed in there it has all the things you might expect from a dairy - lollies, ice creams, milk, bread, magazines, canned chilli beans, silver polish... there's even a selection of flowers out the front just in case you've forgotten a birthday or need to impress some bees or something. Fun fact: More likely than not when you walk in the guy behind the counter will be on the phone. This happens like 80% of the time I go in there.
