Our son is like me (his dad and not into traditional) sports... We noticed he was into other things like rock climbing, zip lining, and paragliding (if we would let him). So over a year ago (summer break of 2016) we noticed while watching Rush Hour my son was acting out all the Jackie Chan moves... so my wife asked him if he wanted to learn karate.. He said yes .. Long story short after an internet search for a kid friendly karate school my wife got literature from Starworld MA in Goodyear. The next day we took our son in and not only was he impressed but so were WE. What impressed us was the discipline by the students and level of respect given by the instructors. My wife and I each both over 25 years in customer service and typically we are good at spotting Fakes...besides they expose themselves in time anyways! From the time we was first introduced to SWMA until now (well over a year) The team at Starworld MA has been consistent at making our son grow as a respectful, positive and respectful young adult. It emphasizes on anti bullying, self confidence and being a better person.. something we all could probably use. Ive noticed a few comments on here about costs for things... well it states in the contract that you agree to get your equipment through starworld and its obvious that they would rather have your child use knew safer equipment then something outdated.. (kinda like a car seat from 1990 isn't as safe as one from now). Also here unlike seasonal sports its a 12 month program not an in and out of season "Event". Yes we enrolled our son in the leadership program it requires a Saturday attendance with no parents allowed and yes we see more improvements in his well being. So to us its worth it and better than him being on his Xbox. Now as far as the Martial Arts.. Our son has done nothing but throw himself deeper into learning the forms that comes with advancing.. it amazes us how not just our son but also the other kids there are so willing to better themselves. Every now and then we get to see what disciplined Black Belts can do when the Master instructs 2 or more Black Belts to demonstrate a technique.. to put it simple its like a mini movie trailer that leaves you wanting more... In my opinion the instructors can transform from a gentle giant when training the kids to a Ninja warrior when needed. They set an example of what you want your child to be as they transition from childhood to adulthood. Im thankful that Master Williams (at his expense) is willing to make improvements to keep his facility top notch in order to better serve his students and accommodate the parents. Its obvious Starworld MA takes pride in its image, the facility is always spotless and you are always greeted by friendly staff at the door and during each class an instructor come around and asks about your day. I highly suggest anyone considering a program like this to try it out... To be honest I thought it would be a 6 month Gig but now Im hoping my son never stop Loving this! read more

My son has always been interested in karate and he had taken group lessons that were given through the school, there were 15-20 kids in a class and they basically just went through the motions of self defense, the instructor did not know any of the kids names, or even whether they were present in class or not. He got discouraged. Then when we moved to Arizona, he wanted to be part of a" real karate school", his words. That's when we found Starworld Martial Arts and it was the best decision EVER. From the very first meeting,Master WIlliamson & all the instructors/leaders, treated us like they had known us for years. There are so many AWESOME things I can say about this academy. They make you feel a part of something right from the first class, Ms. Williamson knew AIden's name without ever seeing him before, which means she knows her students, ALL OF THEM. Every one of the instructors/leaders are great with all the kids, no matter what the age or skill level. They are energetic, make the classes fun and the amount of respect and pride in what they do is so evident watching them interact with the students. Since coming to Starworld, my son has begun to care more about his school work, his appearance,being responsible and becoming physically fit. I am a 47-year old father, and I was looking for an activity that would keep me active and healthy, and would allow me to have something to share together with my 13-year old son. Star World Martial Arts Academy (SWMA) was that answer. We have both enjoyed learning Tang Soo Do karate together. My son has really thrived since beginning. He has made new friends, stayed active and fit, and has learned discipline, respect, self-control and commitment. It has even been a good motivator for him to improve his schoolwork too. The key to SWMA is twofold: Great leadership and awesome staff! Master Williamson is remarkable. He embodies a magnificent combination of patience, knowledge, respect, technical skill, and business prowess. I have probably learned more from him in regards to being a better father and parent than in Tang Soo Do karate skills. I really respect him. My child has started this program less then a year ago. If you are looking to put your child into a martial arts class this would be the best option in the whole state. Not only is their performance team ranked at #1 they are more then just a business they are a family. The lessons of discipline and everyday life skills that I instill as a parent are the same. I could not be more appreciative to be able to see my child learn and want to learn to meet his next goal. This is not a place that is just for small kids it is a place for everyone no matter what age you are. When I walked into this facility after my child expressed interest I was lucky to be walking into a place that is so genuine for what they stand for. My 2 children go to Starworld Martial Arts and have for years. The truth is, this school is the best. I cannot do it justice in this little review. They honestly care about all of their students progressing their lives in a positive way (physically, mentally, emotionally, etc.). They also literally bend over backward to provide quality instruction. This is very important to them. With lots of people stuck at home right now due to Covid19, now is a perfect time to join up with their Zoom video conferencing accommodation option for online classes, or you can still have the option to go in person as well. Another major point I'd like to make, beyond the previously mentioned, is that Starworld is a community. This positive community that students join and become a part of is the school's number one feature, in my opinion. Amazing relationships are made that last a lifetime. This is even more evident when you go to any regional tournament. You would see the enormity of what I am saying. Our girl just achieved Red Belt rank and I want to thank Master Williamson and his entire staff for all the help and attention they showed her as she learned the steps needed. Starworld Martial Arts has changed my family for the better. We started by enrolling our three children in hopes to help them both physical and mental. We have seen the change in their lives and being a member of this group has been such a positive influence especially to my boys. My daughter comes here and she loves the classes. We have seen so much improvement in her ability to preform in larger groups and has slowly been gaining confidence as well. The groups vary in size at times but there is always enough room for everyone to preform. The staff here are all extremely kind, understanding and supportive. The dojo is always clean and tidy. Master Williamson has been so amazing answering all our questions and providing any information on other subjects as well. My daughter absolutely loves when he's teaching the class and is laughing her butt off at times because how silly he can be at times with the kids. Truly a genuine staff to bring your kids to who care about their efforts and wellbeing. If the rest of our family didn't live so far away I know my daughter would be begging for her cousins to come to class with her. Such a professional place. Husband and I decided on this establishment to teach our 6 year old karate after checking out several other martial arts schools nearby. We wanted an establishment that was not just fun or just taught karate fundamentals, we wanted both. Starworld gave us that. The one great thing we didn't know we'd find is a karate class that would have so many black belt teachers at once for every class. It's so awesome. It wasn't even something we were looking for, but once we had our six year old take his trial class and we saw 4 plus black belt teachers on the floor at all times, we were sold. We didn't have to worry that we would be paying for karate and our kid would just get lost in the pack with no teacher paying attention. That will never happen here, there's always a teacher steps away from your kid...noticing them and encouraging them. read more

This martial arts school is awesome! The instructors are patient, kind, encouraging and attentive to each child in class making sure they can do all the skills to the best of their abilities. They invoke a sense of belonging, pride and positive behavior that impacts the students academically as well as at home. All of the instructors are very well trained in the discipline and it definitely shows in their passion to teach! I was looking for a traditional school in the West Valley for two of my boys (10 and 14). I wanted a place where they can learn discipline and honor: carried into their lives outside of the school. Starworld is a welcoming community, not just a martial arts school. There is a lot of individualized instruction even in the larger classes as there are many Black Belt leaders, and they are all amazing (and kind) people in their own right. I couldn't be more happy with my choice to bring my children to Starworld. I have seen significant improvement in their attitudes, respect, drive and determination. Our son has been there for about 3 months now and loves it! He has not once complained about attending a class and looks forward to each week. The school makes it fun and celebrates all his accomplishments along the way in various forms. This positive reinforcement works great for my son and makes him feel like he is getting better, faster. He is attentive during class and is able to receive one-on-one attention when necessary due to the smaller class sizes. We have been enrolled in this school since my daughter was 5 years old. It is truly amazing where she started and is at this day. She is a senior red belt and on her way to black belt. We have watched her grow and get better conditioned in her moves, forms and technique. She is in the Jr. Varsity program as well and she loves to use weapons in her forms/routines. We're so impressed with Starworld Martial Arts! The staff is super friendly, helpful, and dedicated to making the experience incredibly positive for the kids!! My girls (almost 9 and 10 1/2) have been going to Starworld Martial Arts for 6 years now. They enjoy going to karate class twice a week, as well as leadership on Saturdays. We love Starworld Martial Arts! For the past 2.5 years, my family has participated in Tiny Tigers (4-5 year olds), Little Dragons (6-7 year olds), Youth, Adult, and Fitness programs. Each class specifically meets unique needs of the age group. The studio not only strives to teach excellent technique, but also focuses on character development.
