We are incredibly grateful for TaekwonKids. My four year old daughter, Noelle, has been attending Tae Kwon Do here 2 to 4 times a week, and the growth I've seen in her has been amazing. Our kids, Jonas & Eris, attended till about the end of 2024, and I have nothing but praise for Master Scott, and the work he did with them. He made the sport fun and approachable and was always focused on providing them a good training environment. He was strict but fair and had an awesome method and strong work ethic. We unfortunately could not continue after me and the wife both returned to work, so we had to move to a school closer to home. My boys (7 and 10) have been going here for about a year now and we could not be more impressed with the skills that they have learned, the confidence they have built, and the sense of family/community we have felt with them. This is an update to my first review. This used to be Elite Taekwondo and I was always happy with Master Ashley and her crew, we do miss her. That being said, my GF and I are huge fans of Master Scott and his crew. He is very disciplined and doesn't simply let kids get higher belts. He actually requires them to increase knowledge, practice and show the ability to accomplish the moves. Our son has show amazing improvement. TaekwonKids is such a fantastic school. If you have a child who has expressed interest in martial arts I couldn't more strongly recommend any place other than this to take them. From day one, Master Scott and Instructor Cage take an immense amount of time getting to know your child and tailoring the lesson to their strengths and weaknesses. There is time spent as a group and each child gets individual instruction. Teaching children anything can be difficult, but they have mastered the art of delivering technique and instilling discipline in their students. I can only review Master Scott, not this studio. Master Scott recently branched off on his own after several years at a very successful taekwondo franchise in the Bay Area. Master Scott is a gem - a practitioner who really feels passionately about taekwondo, a teacher who is a strong role model for his students, and someone who really cares about kids. Full disclosure: I have not been to Taekwonkids Phoenix, nor do I even live in Phoenix. That said, I feel qualified to rate this business. Here's why: Master Scott Sonu recently moved to Phoenix, after teaching Tae Kwon Do to children in the SF Bay Area for several years. My two boys (age 9 and 6) both were TKD students of Master Scott, each starting at the age of 5, so I have several years of experience watching Scott teach and guide young children in this martial art. Words cannot describe what an amazing instructor Master Scott is. While at first glance, Scott may seem a bit intimidating (shaved head, REALLY muscular), he is absolutely wonderful with the children. He is so patient and nurturing with his young students, and he is always encouraging and motivating the students to do their best. I have watched my two young sons (neither of whom are naturally athletic) grow and flourish under his instruction, as they have loved learning TKD from Master Scott. Member of the US Air Force. When I first started looking for a Tae Kwon Do school I was looking for skill, discipline, and an instructor who wasn't afraid to get loud when necessary. To tell me how i look and perform each day without beating around the bush. Instructor Ashley and Instructor Jake did just that. If I performed bad, they told me. If I was improving, they told me. With my schedule at work constantly changing, they worked with me financially and also put in a Saturday class to help me keep up with training when my job wouldn't allow the time for nights.
