I've been to this location numerous times and have always been impressed. Service is always on point and the staff are super friendly. I like the fact that they have a lot of gluten free and dairy free options that actually taste good! Cocktails and Wine are a must here as well. I usually like indulging in either the tuna poke bowl of chopped salad. I've never been disappointed. Awesome patio when the weather is nice. Came here for lunch for the first time with a couple of old friends before our spa date. We asked for the patio so we could enjoy the beautiful weather. My friends were still a little tipsy from the night before, so a little hair of the dog was in order. I decided to join them in a breakfast caeser, which was delicious. Mine (a single) had a long bean in it. My friend ordered a spicy double and got a pepperoni stick in it. The other two ordered...margaritas, I think? They were Slurpee textured and pink. Also delicious. I loved the menu--Great variety! It made deciding rather difficult. Lots of appetizers, entrees, salads, soups, burgers, snacks and brunch items, all on one page. I especially liked how there were traditional items such as steak and eggs and chicken wings alongside more exotic fare such as Bang Bang shrimp and fish tacos. Our appetizers were salt and pepper wings, lettuce wraps and tuna tar-tare. We had to rethink our main meals, because the appies were fantastic and we were already half-way full. I had the eggs benedict with tomato and bacon. THAT came with an option of five different ways to have it, and Jen ordered hers with spinach and cheese. Jody had a burger and Natalie had a caeser salad. I suppose the main dishes could have been a little bit better. The caeser had too much dressing, and the burger patty was of the frozen variety, not homemade. Jody didn't like it at all, but said her fries, cucumber dip and coleslaw were great. Still they didn't charge her for it. The hash browns that came with the bennies were also of the frozen variety, but the eggs had so much beautiful flowing yolk to dip the hashbrowns in, I didn't really mind. Plus they were well seasoned. I suppose we could have asked our waitress about those things ahead of time. She obviously knew the menu well. In my opinion, the food was a little above average, and the prices were decent. I would try this restaurant again. Shout out to our waitress. I forgot her name, but she had a long blonde ponytail and freckles. She was a six out of five. Fantastic server. Our water never went dry, our drinks never went dry, and she was efficient without being intrusive. We were a boisterous group of women drinking before noon and we had a lot of catching up to do. Very modern/hip decor. Kids are allowed. Food was great, dull mayo dip is awesome. They only had two people in the front of the house on New Year's Day. Also two tables food came out before ours even though they came way after us. Fries are so good, and the grilled cheese burger was amazing. I didn't eat all the bread, it's like a Texas toast. Kids burger and fries were a good portion. Overall a nice experience. Waitress was lovely. read more

Nothing to write home about. This is a typical pub style restaurant with typical, average food choices. It is a spin off from Original Joe's, with the same menu. Although it is essentially Original Joe's with a different name, the service and food quality seem to be meh. The only thing that was great about State and Main was the bathroom door had a foot plate thing that helps you to open the door without touching the handle. Sad. read more

Worst service ever tonight! We came in, party of 3 at 8pm, restaurant only had a few tables, 3 servers and the bartender. We ordered a chicken club to split, a glass of wine, ice tea and a cider. Took FOREVER for the server to finally come up and acknowledge us after being seated, over 15 minutes to receive our drinks. When we did order (before the table behind us even sat down) it took over 45 minutes for one burger. When I asked what was taking so long after seeing the table behind us receive all their hot apps, he went back and our meal magically was ready. The burger was cold, fries stale and HOLY ATTITUDE FROM THE SERVER! He got his back all up stating it was our fault for ordering a burger that was on a gluten free bun. Hot apps and meals all come from the same line cooks. No way does it take 45 minutes to cook one burger. All he had to do was admit that he forgot about our order, or the kitchen screwed up (it happens) . I will NEVER return to State and Main as their service has become terrible, rude and seems like your presence is an inconvenience to the servers. read more

This restaurant is me and my boyfriend's most favorite restaurant in spruce grove. From being geeeted at the entrance to the meal after we sat down, the service is amazing! Bull Dogs are the favorite for an alcohol beveridge, which is lime marguarita with a corona beer. OMG! Its like I have stepped outside my body and ended up in Mexico!Favorite for an appetizer are the pretzel sticks and the salt and pepper chicken wings. The combination is truly delicious! The main course we recommend is the steak, which is done to perfection! The establishment is clean and I love the bathrooms! I am a clean freak so this is very important in my world. We only tried this restaurant once, but that's just about enough. My wife had a wrap and thought it was good. I had the ribs & chicken and thought it was far below expectations. The worst part was the reheated, frozen chicken breast. Really? Not a big fan of watery, mushy chicken. The ribs were slightly better but far from great. If you do decide to go here, stick to the wraps and sandwiches. read more

Great! To start off, they had amazing service; food came fast and ready. The chicken was amazing and the drinks were even better. I had a strawberry daiquiri to fit the mood of sitting outside. When I was about to pay, I accidentally hit my glass and it shattered everywhere. The waiters and waitresses rushed over not to pick up the glass, but to see if I was ok or not! I came here for a work lunch and it was an enjoyable experience. Service was not super fast but acceptable. Atmosphere is quite nice and modern feeling although the tables are fairly close together, which might be more of an annoyance if particularly busy. I had the veggie burger which was pretty tasty and I especially like the hummus and brushchetta toppings. It also came with a choice of two sides. I chose green salad and yam fries but there were a number of choices. The menu appeared to have quite a variety of options which I really liked, and although there weren't many vegetarian options, it looked like a lot of dishes could be made vegetarian if requested. Used to enjoy this local restaurant a lot but found the music started to become so loud it was difficult to chat with others. The staff refused to turn it down and one person told us later the music was deliberately loud in order to attract a younger clientele as per manager's direction. What? Wow. Ordered tea no cream & sugar brought out with it. Server should know that tea pots always leak while pouring no napkins provided till meal was brought. We both had eggs over easy they came out over hard ,was supposed to have sausage with the meal but none was brought ,I guess they where out but no one told the servers. One piece of toast each that was dryer than dry and no jam to be seen.Sis ordered tea later in meal took forever as well as when bill time came we had to ask for it and requested interact but the machine never materialized so paid with cash. A nice little restaurant. The food is good, but not spectacular, and I wish that they had a larger menu. The food tends towards "safe", which can mean "bland" if you hanker for more variety. So far the butter chicken has been my go-to dsh here, and there's not much reason to change it up. On the other hand, if you like fancy cocktails, there are a lot to choose from! Our experience here tonight is a bit mixed. My meal: chicken and ribs was excellent for taste, little skimpy for portion size and a little on the side of pricey but reasonable. My wife's however was a totally different experience. Her meal was fettuccine and meatballs. Horribly bland, no taste whatsoever... almost like they took a tomato and squeezed it over a bowl of noddles and that's it. A tiny little slice of garlic bread and while it was supposed to be served with parm. cheese there was none. The 5 meat balls were ok but nothing special. I really like the State and Main chain. There staff was really nice even though the patio was super busy. I tried the $3 happy hour taco and would not recommend it. The medium sized taco wrap was stuff full of cabbage and just a little bit of fish. Would prefer is the rest of the taco kept a balance to the amount of fish. Get smaller wraps and put in less cabbage if the cost of the fish is holding you back from serving a well balanced taste experience. $3 chips were a very healthy size and super delicious. The caesars were tasty and had a skewer fills of full garnishes. You should definitely try one of those. read more

I have heard a fair bit about this place. Eventually got a chance to go. Not disappointed not overwhelmed. State& Main is the type of place that works very hard to be a notch above some of the other restaurants in its niche. They offer a good selection and very generous portion sizes. The best way to sum up State & Main would be it is a better than safe bet. There will be something for everyone and the service strives to be as good as it can be. While I endorse State & Main, I was hoping something would stand out as amazing but nothing really did but that is exactly what this place is about. They offer up good food and drink but nothing so distracting that it takes away from visiting with friends or having a nice social experience. More than anything they seem to want a nice social atmosphere where you are comfortable, don't have to worry about issues with your meal and make you feel good enough to come back. I certainly will, as it is a nice alternative to the many tired restaurants that have gotten lazy as of yet. read more
