This ship looks well from a distance. You pay and board at the ship - credit cards welcome - but first you must pay a fee just to go on to the pier to be able to board ship. Yes it's the longest wooden pier in Europe apparently and it's only free to enter after 8pm nightly.
The ship is certainly galleon like and a bit of fun on a warm, sunny day. The outside seating is wooden bench like, sort of comfortable and It plays taped sea shanties through speakers that wouldn't be out of place being sung on fishing trawlers off the coast of Donegal or Sligo - Donegal Danny comes to mind.
We got a few beers and sat up on the bow. I opted for their porter style beer, which was delicious and not a bargain. The ship also served cooked meals but as it sails 20 minutes out to sea slowly and takes 20 minutes to return to dock we decided not to dine. We certainly didn't want to rush our food.
Are we glad we did it once - yes. Would we go again - nope. read more
