There's a checker here named Marcel who constantly skips by the digital deals screen before I finish typing in my number, even though he can clearly see me typing in my phone number. Then, when he asks if I want a bag and I respond "no" he proceeds to charge me a dime for a bag I didn't get. And then they want to give you a problem when you ask for your dime back. I NEVER buy bags...I only get a few things each trip...and yet I am constantly being charged a dime for one. But this guy Marcel is not very nice, it's just unpleasant to have to go through his line, but if it's the expresslane, that's what I have to do. Probably should just avoid this store, that would solve the problem. Then, there is a blond woman in the produce section who likes to stare down customers, and one time she began following me around the store, which was really creepy. Anyhow, today I had questions in the produce department, and asked a different (male) employee over there for help, and he was very helpful. Didn't get his name, though. I'd like to thank him. Unfortunately, I still can't give a positive review, because I feel there's too much need for improvement. read more

1 in 4 times when i get meat from the counter, the meat is bad! Looks fine but smells sour and rotten. So freakin gross and a huge waste of my time! I would mention all the other things that are bad about this store, but i want the focus to be on the meat counter. Hopefully some changes happen. read more

I would just like to say, if you live in Hesperia and are unhappy with the service at the 3 Stater Brothers markets that have inundated our town, please live a little and go elsewhere. I realized today, after trying to buy (4) $100 Stater Brothers gift cards, that they do several things to annoy me and I need to try Aldi's, Vons, Food for Less, and Trader Joes in Rancho. I had been buying a $100 gift card now and then when going into this store this quarter, since my Discover card is offering 5% cash back this quarter only at Supermarkets. Didn't have any issue buying them until today, a checker decided to not sell them to me. I had all my ID forms on hand. Where is the consistency? You don't want me to shop at your store? I realized on my way to the other St. Brothers to purchase a gift card there, hey, it may seem like the only supermarket in town, but it's not. There are other stores, and they all sell gift cards. So, I think I have been steered in their direction at the hands of St. Brothers themselves. Thanks for reminding me that your store is a shithole and I get annoyed every time I go in here for one reason or another. Good luck with your policies. Live a little and try other stores...don't get stuck in a rut going to a store that you don't want to shop at. UPDATE: They keep charging me for bags that I'm not getting. Again today, the clerk did not ask me if I wanted any bags, so I assumed I would not be charged for any. She proceeded to charge me for 2 bags, yet nothing had been bagged. It was only after I paid that she gave me 1 bag and then I assumed I had only been charged for 1 bag...looked at my receipt and she charged me 20 cents for 2 bags.  I never even wanted the one!  STOP charging me for unwanted bags!   FYI-   The picture associated with this location is not the correct picture of this Stater Brothers.   Previous: There are a lot of homeless people around here. But the homeless people and criminals in the area are not the only hazard to watch out for.  I just got stabbed in the arm walking in the store by this lethal plant.  It must be some kind of a cactus, idk, but it hurt!! Then I started thinking, Jesus, if that branch sticking out like that stabbed me so easily, imagine what it could do to a little kid! I think Stater Brothers should be proactive and take care of getting this dangerous plant taken out, too many people walk by it to get in and out of the store.  I hope no one else gets hurt by it. Every... time I buy meat from the Stater Bros. On Main St. And C Ave. The presentation in the packaging, shows a decent cut of meat. But when I open the cellophane, and turn the meat over, it is Always, and I mean Always, all fat on the underside. Their policy seems to be... CHEAT the consumer, and be sneaky while doing it. They don't Cary organic eggs anymore so I have to go to multiple stores, also purchased Feta Cheese and when I opened it there was mold on top. Mold on their feta cheese has been a common problem, I found two containers once with mold from bottom to top and took them right to staff. Have lived in the High Desert for 21 years and this is the store I always shop at. That might change if they don't improve read more

I keep giving this store a chance but I'm done. I have bought numerous expired items such as creamer, nuts, ice cream, milk expired. Ordered a chicken dinner that comes with rolls. When we got home 2 of the rolls were taken out of the package and the other 2 were put in a Stater ziplock bag. on another occasion I purchased a bag of chicken. Noticed I was overcharged. Went back and the cashier went to check the price and admitted herself there was a big sign right in front of the chicken but she said it was for another food item. The price of the sign should've been honored. I now go to El Super for my meat and Walmart and Target for all other grocery necessities. read more

Stater Bros is not my favorite supermarket though they do have some plus points. A good bakery (enjoy their cookies) fresh fruit and veggies at a descent price ....and that's where it ends. Stater Brothers fails on a few levels with me. The stores, even the best stores are dated and seem to be stuck in the 70's. I don't believe they are getting discounted fixtures when they open a new store. Also, much of the stores lack any type of bakery which makes no sense. Those stores that do have the bakeries in them are poor at best. Reasons to shop at any Stater Brothers: The prices That about sums it up when shopping at any Stater Brothers including Newport Beach, California. This is a very weird chain of stores. The review is solely for the managers customer service or lack of I should say. I was returning an aveeno lotion I purchased yesterday. The scent was too strong for me and didn't feel well on my hands. Well I had the receipt and lotion in my purse. I grabbed the the desired one and placed both on the counter to exchange. I felt totally reprimanded by him. "Did you show anyone that you were bringing in the lotion, I responded no it was in my purse." Well there's a lot of theft that goes on her he proceeded to say. Asked for my Id and if that's my current address i responded yes, he asked what brings you up here, "unfortunately I'm a commuter." He had a snarky attitude and it's a store I frequent on a daily throughout the work week. Really cannot believe his rudeness as he should be leading by example. read more

Customer serviced is a misnomer. Cashiers are very rude and they act like they are doing you a favor by letting you shop there. The lines are always long. Cashiers spend too much time talking to each other . When you mention it, they become defensive and testy. If I ask for assistance in locating an item, I am tols, 'If we carry it , it is on aisle #.........." When pastrami was on the ad, I was told they don't order it because it doesn't sell well. Often there is no one in the service deli and I just leave. Same goes for the meat dept. Also, on ne visit to the meat dept., I couldn't get elp. As I wked away, I said to 2 employees, "that is why I can't get any help, everyone is standing around talking." The response I got was, "you got that right buddy." NEVER will I shop in Stater Brother. I can spend my money anywhere I want to. It doesn't have to be at one of there store. read more

While food prices do go up you can still catch newspaper specials for all your local stater bros. I have not been here in a while but I remember the quality meats, freindly staff and overall selection. Tons of parking, close to main streets and very convenient. read more

I was extremely bothered when 2 of your female employees were speaking so loudly and cussing without a care.. I had my three year old with me.. sounded like they were speaking about other co-workers which really speaks on there teamwork ethics.. at least do it privately where customers can't hear you. read more

I stopped by to pick up some groceries for a trip to the lake and the manager here is rude. I believe it her name was Alberta. She needed to come help the cashier that was ringing me up and she acted like I was inconveniencing her. I dont even know why the manager needed to come over there. This IS the rudest store in the area next to cardenas. Debra W. seems to forget what customer service is. I asked for 4 quarters in my change and her response was "If I have it". I told her she can ask her manager if she needs change. She got an attitude and went to another register and found quarters. WOW! So sorry to make your job so hard on you. I guess customers are not the important people. They just pay your bills, help you pay for your life, but hey oh well, right? This isn't an isolated case. I have been going there on and off for a few months and they seem to have a problem with saying Good Morning. Welcome. How are you. No they almost run you over and don't even care. No excuse me or sorry I almost ran you over. Just rude. There are some nice kids there and a couple cashiers that are friendly, but the over all staff acts like the management. Kamiel (KA MEAL) is super sweet and polite, but most are too busy profiling people. They have a lot of homeless here and they love to talk about them lol. At least the homeless say excuse me, most times. But they don't work for stater bro's do they. I live around live stock so sometimes I come in a bit shabby. This is for the stater bros on main and maple that doesn't even seem to be listed on yelp . I usually shop at winco but tonight I decided to stop by stater bros for a couple Gatorade and a 6 pack of shock top . At the 15 items or less aisle at 7:10 pm on Tuesday I received the worst customer service ever . The cashier was incompetent and disrespectful. I simply asked for her Id to prove she was old enough to sell me beer and since I was showing my personal information , it's only fair I get to see theirs as well . The lady refused to sell me the beer after being showed my ID 6 times and than disrespectfully asked why I was holding the line up . I said no one is stopping you from ringing up my Gatorade and she walked away . Talk about rude . Wallmart had no problem with customer service and sold me the beer after briefly looking at my ID with no problems. If they can't handle their job they shouldn't be working. read more

I can't bring myself to shop at this store anymore. The last time I came in, I got to the checkout and the cashier, AND bagger ignored my existence. They were talking to each other the entire time that I was checking out, and even while I was handed my receipt and change. There was no 'thank you' or 'have a nice day', they were just in the middle of such an important conversation that they couldn't be bothered to pay an inch of attention to me. This isn't the first time that has happened to me. The staff at this store has never been friendly to me, and I'm done shopping at a place that doesn't value customer service, especially towards a customer who comes in at least once a week. read more

This is my Stater Bros. of choice in Hesperia, the one on I is too small, and the one on Maple is too ghetto. The people that work here are much nicer, their selection is nearly identical, and you always get close parking. My only complaint is that they don't sell organic produce. read more

The checker named Summer P. really made my evening frustrating. First, she was carrying on a on conversation with an employee from another store. She mentioned that she drives from Barstow to work and so on. No big deal except that I have a screaming kid in the car waiting with his mom. The next customer was not going to buy some soda because of the price being too high so Summer P. decided to get on her personal cell phone and look for Pepsi coupons for the customer. She tried one coupon and it didn't work so she removed everything from the sales screen and re-scanned all of the items and tried a different coupon. All of this required her to walk back and forth between the register and the customer keypad on the customer side of the counter. She was able to get a coupon to work and saved the customers life. All of this crap is going on while my kid is screaming in the car and I just need to buy milk and get out of there. Summer P, pull your head out of the clouds and do your job. Your job is not to get on your personal cell phone and help customers find coupons. Please, do your job so that I don't have to stand in line waiting forever. read more
