Terrible company to deal with. Absolutely no professionalism, no integrity, and no sense of urgency once they get their money. I paid off my vehicle debt 4 months ago, and I'm still trying to get something as simple as a paid-in-full letter for my bank. That's it -- just a letter confirming the account is settled. You'd think that would be basic. They were very quick to collect payment, but once the debt was paid, they basically disappeared. Calling them is a joke -- it's mostly voicemail, no callbacks, or excuses. Since paying everything off, I've only actually spoken to someone twice, and neither time did anything get resolved. At this point it honestly feels like they just don't care once they've gotten what they want. If you have to work with this company, be prepared for frustration, poor communication, and zero follow-through. Would not recommend. read more

This company came after me for a 2007 account that I owed. I went through homelessness and joblessness regardless they wanted their money they attempted to garnish my wages at the same time another company was doing which is illegal every time I get close to paying the account off it's always another balance. I finally paid the account off yesterday 09/17/2024 daring the BII to call about a balance I believe she truly made me her plan from that one call in 2007 to make my life miserable if she is reading this she knows who she is tramp. read more

In August, I became aware of a SMUD debt (about $570) that had gone to the collections company States Recovery Systems. I went into their office since they are located in my hometown and paid the debt in full. I had paid $100 cash, and the rest on my debit card. I received a receipt for the cash payment, and one additional receipt/notice stating that the amount had been paid in full and there is no longer a debt/amount due for that account. Over a month later, I began noticing missed calls from their local office's phone number. (My ringer is on silent at work). I finally managed to catch one of the calls, and it was a representative from their office attempting to collect. I told them I had already paid the amount due completely, and the man said that he is showing that I had only paid $100. I was livid. I told him exactly how my payments were processed, back to back and on the spot. I also read him the notice/receipt stating that the amount had been paid in full, even being sure to provide any and all reference/account numbers listed on that receipt. He then says to me, "Well, you could have typed and printed that out on your computer." We argued, I told him that their company was incompetent, and that I'm not paying another dime. I may have called them criminals and scam artists. I told him to look into the matter further and to check in with his supervisors regarding my account because whomever had assisted me the first time was clearly incapable of doing her job correctly and thoroughly. I threatened to drive down there and handle the issue directly. He called me back a few minutes later saying that he had checked, and that there was nothing in their system stating that I had paid the remaining $470. I erupted. At that point, I hung up on him and drove straight down to their office. The woman behind the counter listened to my experience/dilemma patiently, but then proceeded to go check on my account. At that point, a different woman (one who had helped me when I had shown up to pay the first time) walked out and instantly began to apologize profusely. She said that she remembered me, and that my debt WAS in fact paid off. I had my bank statement pulled up on my phone in order to provide proof, but she said that it wouldn't be necessary. She said she didn't know that I was going to drive down there (I had left work early to address this infuriating situation) and that Raj (the man who had been calling me) was supposed to call me back and let me know that there had been a mistake. Just doing a quick scroll through my call logs, I had received at least 8 to 9 different calls from this company AFTER I had paid my debt off. The woman tried to claim that because I had paid in person instead of over the phone or the internet, that it takes much longer to process. Bottom line is that I don't care how long it takes to "process" their payments; their damn employees should be updated in the system on whom has paid in full, regardless of whether they have already filed/updated the credit bureaus. And clearly, they had never reported to debt as "closed" to the credit bureaus even though it was over a month from my payment. It's a terrifying feeling when you're being harassed to pay a debt that you had already paid, and they're telling you that they have no records of you having paid any of it, other than the small cash amount that was made in tandem with the remaining balance paid with a debit card. read more

Called in today to pay off a debt. Not always a pleasant experience. However this was probably hands down the best experience I've had yet. Chris Wall has been my account holder and today I spoke with Gary Robinson. To say Gary was friendly is an understatement. He quickly looked up my account and saw that Chris Wall was my account holder and said he would track him down for me. Since Chris was working hard at the moment, Gary said he would be happy to help me make my payment. We got the account paid and current. He was very thorough and assured me SMUD would be updated same day. Gary and Chris have made it such a smooth process while assisting with my account, and made fixing my past mistake so much easier. Kinda wish they had another account of mine just because it was so pleasant. read more

They sent me a collection letter for $82.65 for Credo Mobile which Credo Mobile confirmed in an email was not so My balance on a cancelled account from July 2017 was $0 When I tried to contact States Recovery systems directly all I got was to call a directory - their website only allowed for payment or client solicitations I wrote them a letter asking for them to correct their records and confirm that in writing has had no response I can find no email address but did find the complaint dept address as: Compliance Department P.O. Box 2860 Rancho Cordova, CA 957414 I included the Email from Credo Mobile Octob 16, Lisa, sales supervisor (800) 411-0848 there is no way to contact them other than the phone number 800211-1435 that requires I know the person I am calling so I can access their extension or a pay button I thus sent my complaint in writing & attached the email from CREDO MOBILE stating I had never owed any money as I had cancelled the account the same day ordered July 17 and returned unopened the phone - But their threat to report my balance as a negative on my credit report reflected on my credit rating is still in effect to my knowledge - I have a current credit rating over 800 read more
