Situated right below the Musee D'Orsay, this is the RER line that you take along the Seine but also to the Palace of Versailles. Before you think you can sneak on with a zone 1-3 pass, realize that you have to present your ticket at the other end as well. If you have an incorrect ticket, then you won't be able to exit. They start moving at about 5AM but the palace is really open at 9. Take that into account. If you're going to the Palace from this station it will be about 30-45 min before you get to the other end. There is a train attendant here to help you with tickets. Not all stations have one! Easy to access and allows you to get to all the main Paris attractions.

A few days into the trip we used this station more. Flat walking to and from station. Less stairs. Escalator at the Marie exit. All important if you have already walked 10 miles for the day. Purchasing metro tickets are easy. I recommend trying to get them during non rush hour parts of the day. The kiosk is inside downstairs. Use the roller bar to use in English. I recommend the 10 pack. You get a discount and can use them on the metro, bus or tram. It was just under $20. Black line faces up, insert in the end and ticket pops up on top, grab it and pass thru the gate quickly. I downloaded the RATP app to help find lines and connections. Both buses and metros were easy to use.

There's kiosks to buy metro/train tickets or from a person at the window. Once you take the long stairs down to the tracks, there's a cafe selling sandwiches, magazines, etc. There's a screen near the track to tell you when the next trains are arriving--a nice touch!

There is a good amount of shopping on the strip where thee metro exits onto Faubourg-Saint Antoine. The station is pretty clean and there are apparently no regular "residents" who might smoke, etc. inside. Also it's on the line 8 (light purple), which is well connected across Paris and runs regularly and isn't that slow. The station is not a hub so there are no too many people to deal with when exiting. Anyways, it's a personal favorite for me because it is the metro that is closest to the Marché d'Aligre, which is just awesome in general.

Well, that is probably exaggerating, though come to think of it, they are pretty long. I believe you can actually get to Gare de l'Est from here without walking outside the station (though unfortunately I don't believe you have access to the middle of the platforms, not that I have checked that out). Anyway, it's cool, and the neighbourhood around it does appear to be rather nice.

I needed to buy a weekly navigo pass and the staff at the exit 5 ticket office were SO helpful despite my limited and fairly poor French! The ticket office was also still open after midnight which is great. There are a few steps to navigate at this station but nothing insurmountable. Plus I was lucky enough that a gorgeous French guy carried my bag up the main exit steps. Chivalry is lovely but French chivalry - mon Dieu!!! The Montparnasse Bld exit brings you out on to a Main Street full of bars, restaurants, the theatre. Such a nice way to immediately feel right in the heart of things! The station is not to be confused with the SNCF Gare Montparnasse. This is about a 5/10 easy minute walk away from Bienvenue. Right, I'm off to get my Montparnasse on! On y va!

Nicely located station directly on the edge of the Bois de Boulogne. The station is not very deep…read moreso there are not many stairs to climb. Relatively clean station. Ticket machine available as in all Metro stations, as well as a staffed service booth during the daytime. If you wish a scenic walk to the Arc de Triomphe along a grand street and wish to avoid the crowds, Port Dauphine station is a fine choice. It is about a 20 minute walk.
