In spite of the LED 'open' sign flashing in the doorway, this shop always looks closed - probably because it sort of looks like the windows have been boarded up by pictures. In fact, the liklihood is that it is open, and if you want to pick up some booze on your to or from the station, this is a good place to do it. They have a very large selection of wine. Best of all, they have a very large selection of CHILLED wine. I hate it when you go into a local supermarket or whatever, and there are lots of white wines, but very few that are already cold. I rarely buy wine as an investment beverage; I buy it because I want it now, so I want it cold! Same with beer, and happily, Station Food and Wine also has lots of beers in its chiller cabinet. They also sell a few grocery bits, so if you need to pick up a few essentials like baked beans and bread to accompany your wine, you can. The prices aren't as cheap as a large supermarket, but in my opinion the large fridge makes up for that. read more
