He was very helpful and friendly but they probably should have at least one other person working. They had a bakery here, a Starbucks, I saw a small market, of sorts, and another place called Julia. However, I expected a few more options but what do I know, I am probably just a spoiled American... Kudos to the friendly worker who helped me find everything I needed here.

There are no staff here most of the time for ticketing assistance. The only time I saw a staff here, I asked a question about how to show the QR ticket of a eurail pass on "rail planer" app and she doesn't recognize the "rail planer" app. There is a Spar convenience store next to station where you can buy, fruits, sandwiches, coffee, water, instant noodles, and other snacks.

The station itself actually has some nice, open views and it's right near the beautiful Spaarnwoude park, which is great. The massive downside is that the lift always seems to be broken. Because of that, you're stuck dealing with a ton of stairs. It makes things incredibly difficult if you're trying to haul a bike up and down, and it's completely inaccessible if you're in a wheelchair. It gets the job done for a basic commute, but they really need to get the maintenance sorted out for anyone who can't easily use the stairs.

As far as the train…read morestation goes it's a two story with lots of windows that let the sun shine through, and clean. The first thing I noticed was the police presence on the upper floor. The second was the massive bike parking lot. I've never seen so many bikes in one place! Trains ran on time. By the way the town of Alkmaar is a charming story book town.

One thing I don't like is that you can only exit the platforms in one direction instead of two like a lot of other stations.

I hope they add some soon. I'm more of a park-n-ride kind of person, so I would appreciate the parking. It's about a 6 min trip to the NDSM area. Like the other ferries, you can be inside or outside, on foot, on bike, or scooter. Don't eat or drink on the ferry. The ferries are subsidized, so it's free for all riders!

You drive your car on to the lower decks at 16 pm in the afternoon, you go to your cabin to put away your sleep over stuff, than you go to the buffet lounge at 18 pm to have your pre-reservated and payed dinner, after dinner you watch a movie in the theater, do some taxfree shopping or you go drinking with your buddies (or you go to your cabin and read your book like me), you go to sleep....... at 7 (or 8) AM a friendly voice wakes you up, you dress yourself, go get breakfast in the same 7-Seas lounge and then, at 9 or 10 AM you arrive at the other side of the North Sea!! It doesn't come any easier, yelpies. And: the buffet food is delicious!
