Very comfortable bed and pillows. Waffle and fruit for breakfast. Key card only entry after hours for security. Close and well lit parking. Many amenities (food, shopping, gas) nearby. Cons: Room had a mild fish odor. Weed smell in the hallway. The eggs, something they called potatoes and chicken sausage for breakfast were horrible. A few hiccups getting the correct room rate but it was eventually properly invoiced. Some staff were so-so. Good value for what they offer. I would recommend and return. read more

DO NOT STAY: Our car was broken into in their lot. When we booked our suite we had no idea that they hadn't even nstalled cameras. It's absolutely unsafe. There were several disappointing things about our stay. It was our family Christmas vacation. The carpet in our suite smelled. Staybridge offered to call housekeeping to spray a chemical on the carpet. I guess they seriously thought we'd want to sleep in an enclosed space with a dank smell/unknown chemical combo. The USB ports didn't work. No hot tub. Weak water pressure. The icing on the cake was the unprofessional management response to our entire situation. Do not stay at Staybridge Kzoo! read more

My husband and I have spent the last three years traveling from So. Cal to Kalamazoo twice a month to visit our daughter and watch her softball games, and we LOVE Staybridge. This hotel was great. First, the front desk manager, Zeus, was awesome! He was friendly and helpful. Got us the quietest room possible, and gave a great dinner recommendation. The room was very clean. Bathroom included Dove brand shampoo, body wash, etc. There was even dishwasher detergent provided. Housekeeping staff was friendly. Breakfast was good every day. And M-W evenings, there was a snack provided by the hotel. All the staff was very friendly. My daughter enjoyed the pool; it was a little cold for my taste. Most importantly, the bed was very comfortable. One suggestion is wall-mounted hallway air freshener. There were other guests that cooked food and the smell wafted into the halls. If there was an automatic air freshener, it would have smelled a little better in the hall. The other suggestion would be to have the pool just a few degrees warmer. read more

My wife and I were in town for the Mac N' Cheese festival and choose Staybridge because of the location, price, prior reviews by others, and the free breakfast. The one star reduction is for the front desk associate who checked us in. We asked if there were any nature trails close by and his response was, 'Your guess is as good as mine". I asked him if that's because he was new in town and he responded, "No, I have 2 kids, I don't have time to get out". Not a harsh message but the tone wasn't great. It's also due to the low water pressure in the showers, it left something to be desired. The suite met our expectation. The room was clean and the bed was comfortable. While we didn't use the kitchenette, it was stocked with everything one would need to make a meal. We slept comfortably and it was quiet. The breakfast was fantastic. There was plenty to choose from. Options include yogurt, fruit, waffles, eggs, sausage and gravy, and biscuits. read more

I usually don't do reviews of hotels and accommodation but I feel compelled to do one based on the excellent service we received here. It's a brand new facility so the rooms and the furnitures are very clean and modern. The complimentary breakfast is fresh and has lots of healthy options. The pool is big and the water e is heated so it's perfect for the little kids. It's in prime location with lots of food and shopping options so it was very convenient as well. The thing that impressed me the most about this place however is the exceptional service provided by everyone that works here. Not only did everyone greater us with a smile but they really went out of their way to accommodate us with every request. If you're staying in or near Kalamazoo, look no further! Well to start I am a Platinum member which usually comes with a few perks. I called 3 days before my stay to ask that they put a request in for ground floor room. They assured me the request was in. I get to the hotel after 6 and I am told not only did I not get a ground floor room but I am on 3rd floor . It's late so I take it, I walk into the room and it's about 95 degrees and stinks like sewage . I go to turn on the air and NOTHING. I call to the desk the guy at the desk says he'll be up shortly to show me how to adjust it. Mind you I stay at Staybridge suites every week! After 45 min I call back down because no one came up. When he picks up he says he forgot about me and would be right up. He shows up and starts to mess with it on the wall. I then notice the unit is gutted out down below. Someone clearly was tearing apart the air and the room wasn't taken out of service. He says, "I'll bring you a tan but it will take me a while". Ummmmm NO I said you can move me to another room. He says, "we are sold out and there is t another room". I said well check me out I will move hotels. The hotel was filthy! Stunk like sewage in the halls and downstairs . I will attach pics of the air conditioning unit. I moved to the Holiday inn and it is BEAUTIFUL! Cheaper than the Staybridge and free breakfast and rooms have micro/fridge combo. read more

This location is pretty run down and not well maintained. My room had stained carpet through the suite (king suite), broken drawer pulls, broken door stop, dirty counter tops, an off odor, stained furniture, etc... It was decent enough for one night but only because I received a discounted rate and I was too tired to repack my car to find a better hotel. It is not worth the full rate for the condition of the room. I wouldn't recommend this location. Drive on travelers...drive on. read more

We stayed here this past weekend to attend my college reunion. This was not my first choice, since I had never stayed here before, but it will be my first choice in the future. This was a great location. It is on Stadium Drive close to the expressway. It is a couple miles from Western Michigan University and Kalamazoo College, and only a few miles from downtown. The staff is phenomenal. Everyone was so friendly and helpful. Our room was large, clean, and comfortable. There is a pool and hot tub that are both decent size and temperature. The pool looks out into the pretty courtyard, which gives it a nice view. There is a courtyard with grills! In the summer it would be lovely to eat breakfast out there. The breakfast was one of the best free hotel breakfasts I've ever had. There were scrambled eggs, sausage, hard boiled eggs, freshly made oatmeal, wide assortment of pastries, cereals, fruits (including a great fruit salad). There were even toppings to make your own breakfast sandwiches. And everything was refilled so it was fresh! There was a nice sitting area in the front. This looked very comfortable, and even had some books you could borrow. This was also a great deal! The weekend was ~$250 including taxes. Oh, and they have free parking and free wifi. I will absolutely be staying here next time I'm in Kalamazoo! read more

Room was large and clean ee had the 1 bedroom suite. Housekeeping comes every 7 days so we had no Housekeeping at all. Breakfast is delivered to you if you want in the morning due to covid there is no buffet breakfast which is fine. We had some pretty loud neighbors the days we were there but overall on the things I can review our stay was fine. The reason I cant give 5 stars is because our ac in our room did not work effectively enough to keep the room cool. We had to close the shades because the sun was to much for the ac unit and keep the temp on 67 which kept the room at about 70 degrees. We normally have a nice stay here but this time they neglected to tell us when we booked that the entire lobby/dining room was being remodeled and not available. Also tv in bedroom did not work and when we asked for assistance there was nothing they could do except offer to move us. Mind you it was 10:30pm and we were already unpacked. When I asked for a partial room credit all they offered was points on our account. Really?! In the morning we also noticed the coffee maker did not work. Ugh! So much more than I expected! I stayed at the Staybridge Suites during a long move across several states because it was close to the highway and offered complementary hot breakfast and wifi. What I discovered when I arrived was that this jewel also offered complementary dinner (Tues/Wed/Thurs nights), free laundry facilities (soap was $1.00), a 24-hour store stocked with travel essentials, and a beautiful pool and courtyard area in back. My suite was so much bigger than I expected for the price, and there was ample parking available for trucks and RVs in the lot next door, making it easy for me to get in and out without a hassle. It was a welcome surprise on a very long trip. I will definitely stay there if I'm ever in Kalamazoo again. read more

I stayed at Staybridge while staying in Kalamazoo. I'm a Travel Nurse, relocated to help with Covid in Michigan. The state of Michigan place nurses at this hotel, for a safe environment. My hotel room was BROKEN into. The Perpetrator took all my electronics and even my firestick from behind my tv. Yes, the Firestick, which the person had to know, a cord only to the visual eye, was behind the tv. But, this not the craziest thing, the person left drugs (Meth and Marijuana), personal checks (that says cleaning services) in a lunch box on my sofa. I didn't feel safe any longer at this hotel. The hotel manager tried to say I left the door open. I close the door 20 times (lightly and softly) and the door wouldn't stay open by the slightest close. It's been a week and I still haven't heard from their Corporate office. Not even an apology or updated on investigation. Listen! NOT A SAFE ENVIRONMENT!!!! read more

Horrible service! Jeramy the manager has no customer service skills at all. We asked if we could please see a room before we payed $200 or more for the room and he said we could only come during the day to see it. We were wanting to stay tonight and were recommend by some good friends so why would we want to wait till tomorrow? We are on vacation and at least expected to have better customer service but it's ok I would just recommend not staying here if you are looking for something at night and you want to see the room. Since our local pool is closed... I thought let's rent a room @ staybridge since it was so hot yesterday so the kids could swim! I booked the night.. but upon re entering the building I was informed that I couldn't have any guests. There I had 8 kids.. they were so disappointed and so was I. I work 2 jobs in customer service. And that's bad service@ it's best. I've had birthday celebrations there before they never acted so stuck up. My with special needs son never has friends to play with and the one time he does.. your policy ruins it. I hope that you can rethink how you do business. I even bought a cake. read more

Quite possibly the worst hotel I've ever stayed in. We requested to be moved three times and then toured two more rooms all of which were filthy. The front desk guy couldn't even be bothered to get off the phone to speak with me, just shoved keys at me. The floors hadn't been vacuumed in ages, there were stains everywhere, food smears all over the kitchens, the pots and pans were caked with old food and there were pubes all over the bathrooms. This was literally every room we stayed in and the two we toured before giving up and sleeping on top of the sheets for 5 hours and high tailing it out of there. We requested to speak with the manager and left phone messages/voicemails but finally had to resort to calling the IHG line. Thankfully our points and pet fee were returned. read more

Hotel didn't honor my reservation. I arrived late on a Friday night and had to wait roughly 5-10 minutes while their computer system was changing over from one day to the next. Once it was done, the employee checked her computer and said they had no rooms available. I had made the reservation online that night so I was doubtful they didn't have at least one room since I shouldn't have been able to make the reservation if they were sold out. I asked if she could be looking at Saturday's hotel status rather than Friday, the night I was actually trying to check into but she said no, they had nothing. Had they actually had nothing, I would have thought she would have known that the moment I arrived rather than me standing there waiting to find out. Best hotel stay in the USA for me in a very long time. I particularly enjoyed breakfasting in the garden area with my family and friends. The breakfast and desk staff were professional and excellent, constantly bring out fresh eggs or oatmeal. The room had a kitchen area with small refrigerator. I've been in my fair share of hotels with family in Michigan, but for this specific stay I was alone. I was excited to walk in and see a large, apparently very clean suite...that is until I opened the fridge to put in my water and found three or four plates of old, half eaten food. To be completely honest, I didn't even care that much. A little gross, but whatever. I left a very polite note for the housekeeping asking if they could take care of it so I could put my own food and water in there my second night. If it would have ended there, I would have definitely given this a four star review. When I came back to my room later the first night, neither of my keys would work. I didn't have them by a phone or any of that, so I went down to the front desk. The guy, very nice by the way, came up with me and showed me that I had "lift the knob down really fast and then pull it all the way up." Huh?? Ok... sure. Whatever. Again, no big deal. I was tired and had a big day the next day. Went to bed. Next day I come back to my room around 4:00. The door is literally OPEN. I peek in to see if maybe someone, though VERY late in the afternoon, might be cleaning. Nope. I rush around to check my stuff and make sure everything is there, and thankfully it was. I called the front desk immediately to ask if perhaps someone was cleaning, coming back.. no accusations, just asking if I'm missing something. The guy says "oh sorry. They must have forgotten to lock it" Um.. ok?? I say "Oh. Well thank goodness none of my things are gone." He says "Well, let us know if anything is." Totally unimpressed, and this is a mom of two with a crazy job who is very, very hard to make crabby lol. Won't be back. read more

This hotel is a pretty nice property, with large well equipped suites including fridge, freezer, microwave, stovetop, utensils, dishes and coffee maker. Free breakfast buffet every day is decent, and a nice perk is that they offer guests a free dinner every Mon, Tues and Wed pm - last night my family and I had white chicken chili which was delicious, cornbread, salad bar and fruit for dinner. Very convenient and helpful when traveling with a young child. Now for the not so good parts: the indoor swimming pool which we were looking forward to using to get some exercise (winter weather outside) was filthy and cloudy looking water on Monday am. We swam a bit any way and the water was freezing. We informed the front desk and they said the pool needed to be shocked and that would clear up the pool. They shocked the pool Mon afternoon and Tues am the water still looked cloudy and filthy. Yuck. Also the keycard only opened our room door about 50% of the time. We informed the front desk and they said they'd have maintenance look at it ... still not working right. Sucks when you have to use the bathroom and can't get your hotel room to open!! These things all need to be addressed. read more

Really clean and friendly environment! The front desk is super helpful and attentive. The only complaint I have is the bed frame... it sticks out right under the bed skirt and it doesn't take much to run into it. If you've ever hit your leg on something like that, you know it hurts like hell. It's more irritating for me as an adult, but could be a real safety issue if someone has small children. I am not sure why this hotel has such good reviews. The only positive thing about this place was that the pool was warm. The negative about the pool was that there was garbage and other people's towels thrown about and no one seemed to care. We stayed in a two bedroom suite and the first room we were given was absolutely filthy. The carpets were stained in all rooms, the bathrooms were dirty, the kitchen had food debris all over, and there was some very strange things next to the refrigerator on the floor. The smell was awful as well. Thankfully we were able to switch to a room across the hall that was in better shape, but still had its issues. There was still dirt and food stains in the kitchen and the bathrooms could have used some extra attention. Also, the light bulbs could be checked every now and then to make sure they work and match. Not sure why that would be to much to ask for especially after the price you pay. Maybe the other people that post good reviews live in filth and don't care about the cleanliness of their home. read more

Incredibly unprofessional. I am infuriated by the way I was treated on the phone. I wanted to book a room for an upcoming event, and was told "there are 12 rooms available, but there are negative 12 rooms". Basic logic would lead me to believe a) the negative 12 rooms was a waiting list or b) that this is some hotel lingo that those outside the industry are not aware of. When I asked about this, the gentleman on the phone said that it was not a waiting list and that they don't have that type of system. Fine. I asked him to explain what the negative 12 rooms meant for curiousity sake and so I could strategize when I would call back to see if rooms had become available. Instead of explaining, he kept repeating "negative 12 rooms means negative 12 rooms". By the third time asking, rephrasing each time thinking he didn't understand me, I realized that he is either incredibly stupid, or being incredibly rude and refusing to answer my question (I suspect both). I asked to speak to a manager and he forwarded me to a voicemail. I obviously did not book a room, and frankly would not ever consider them as a place to stay going forward. I cannot effectively explain how rude the guy who answered the phone was on here, but I can say that I would avoid this place at all costs. This type of rude behavior should not be tolerated, and they should consider firing this idiot and filling their staff with respectful and competent employees. read more
