Definitely an old/aging hotel, needs up keeping. It's got some creepy vibes. Staff was nice at check-in though. Walking into the room the light switch by the door only turned on one light and the rest of the room was in complete darkness. I had to walk across the room in the dark to switch on a table lamp. The space is large, but the furnishings are very dated. Redeeming factor is the bathroom seems newer than the rest of the room which is important. The gross part is water was YELLOW and GREEN. Gross. Was too grossed out to shower and brushed my teeth with bottled water. Thank goodness I was only staying for one night only. I don't know what to expect from a small hotel in a small city like Kalamazoo, Michigan but there you go. This was the "best rated" hotel for a less than $200 per night. One star for hotel in poor condition. One star for friendliness of staff. read more

Starting off this place is not new... the check-in staff was friendly and polite. She paced away from the noise so we could rest. It's clean although visibly worn. Proximity to the highway makes for some noise and the heater kept my wife awake most of the night. Breakfast was a pass $15 for thawed frozen foods didn't seem appealing. Would we come back? Stayed here a couple years ago when it was a Sheraton. It's a Marriott now and the management has let it go. The entire parking lot is a mess. The towels are old. Toilet was wobbly. We didn't eat there at all. All in all, a real disappointment. The bed was decent but the windows are very old and cloudy. read more

OK. So this place is meh. We stayed there to attend an off-the-property wedding and were in a bit of a hurry. Our room had shredded carpet that was sitting loose on the floor (literally it was loose - so weird) and the paint was separating from the wall around the air conditioning which gives the impression there's water behind the wall = possible mold. We went downstairs to the lobby and were moved into a different room on a different floor. The room was better but there was stuff still in the garbage can, presumably from the last guests who stayed in the room. Also, one can hear guests walking the halls, meaning the rooms aren't sound-proof, that's for sure. I've included photos of the air conditioner as well as the shredded carpet. They had some bagged cookies downstairs and that was a nice gesture so that was nice. read more

I saw some negative reviews and was skeptical, but we have had a fine experience. We were set to spend five night here. Due to a travel issue, I requested to check out a day early and had no issues. The staff have all been friendly and accommodating. It is an older hotel, so there is some expected wear but everything was clean. The breakfast buffet was the same each day; I would have liked more variety but acceptable. Although we did not really hear our neighbors, at night we could hear the freeway noise. Leaving the AC fan on helped to drown it out so we could sleep. I'd be willing to stay here again if in the area. read more

One of the worst hotels we had the misfortune of staying. We were visiting town for a sporting event and all other nearby hotels were booked. We didn't expect much but given it was a Marriott flag I expected it to be a decent property. The lobby, hallways, and rooms are tired, the carpet is old and dirty, towels were brownish and oily, and employees are liars. We reserved a room for 5 nights but decided to checkout after 2 days as we couldn't stay in that filth (and a nearby hotel had rooms become available). Since we checked out early, the hotel reception said the refund will be processed for 3 unused might by Amex Travel. When Amex called for a refund authorization they denied it. I will be reporting them to BBB. The place has no regard for the harm they are putting everyone amidst the pandemic and they cheat their customers (which is probably the only way they make some money in this shitty property). read more

We understand our visit was during COVID but there are still certain standards to be observed in guest services. Firstly, the desk attendants were gracious, knowledgeable & great to interact with checking in & departing. Our room was not as clean as it should be, there was an half consumed bottle of water next to the ice cube bucket, a standard size bar of soap in the shower, obviously used, we had to bag our trash, restaurant was closed so we bought our breakfast from a refrigerated unit so needless to say, we were disappointed. read more

Mike the night auditor was extremely rude and completely unhelpful. He lacks any form of customer service training. Then I got to the room only to discover that there was blood on the top sheet of my bed. This hotel is not suitable for Putin's army. Marriott should be embarrassed and ashamed that this franchisee is part of their organization. read more

Came for Dokidokon in 2017. I didn't experience the rooms, but everything else was great. Plenty of space for everyone to look around the convention and the pool area was well maintained. The pizza restaurant within the hotel has delicious pizza. We outgrew the space for next year, but am glad we had it here. read more

The food here is so good! We had a graduation party for 50 people and Heather made an incredible feast for us. The Mac and cheese was my favorite, but we all loved the chicken wings and southwest egg rolls too. The fruit tray and veggies were fresh, colorful, and delicious! The meeting room facility had a projector we used for a slide show. Parking was safe and convenient. Room temperature was perfect. The draped tables and serving island was beautiful. We will definitely use this facility again! read more

Had a very nice Mother's Day brunch here today. The food was good. Wish we had a little better service. The atmosphere was set up very nice, I personally liked the tall tables but they the hostess team didn't understand how to place young strong folks up on the tall tables vs some more senior guests that couldn't get up on the nice tall tables/chairs. They were nice about changing our table to a booth as my mothers were unable to get up on the tall chairs. But I witnessed other folks having a difficult time with the chairs. Overall it was a good experience and we would go back there again. read more

I only stayed here for less than 12 hrs but for the cleanliness, staff service, location, hot breakfast buffet(even if coffee costs additional $3), restaurant and bar area, and the well maintained lobby....I would definitely consider staying here again if I am in the area. read more

Disgusting room!!!! My husband and I arrived at the hotel really early (11:30 am)...mind you I called the day before requesting an early check-in time (AND I'M GOLD ELITE). I was told by the front desk person on Friday 04/19/23 that a room was cleaned and waiting for us on Saturday 04/20/23....but of course, when we got there, that wasn't the story. The manager checked us in and informed us they had no room for us and we had to wait. This guys was very matter of fact and borderline rude....his whole demeanor lacked any customer service skills. And I don't believe good customer service skills means to lick my boots! But when GOOD CUSTOMERS meet GOOD CUSTOMERS SERVICE.....BOTH parties are appreciated and listened too. I believe I was a good customer (I never yelled, was understand and patient) however I did NOT feel appreciated or listened to. I did NOT remember the young lady's name who I spoke with the day before but the manager asked for the person's name who told me our room would be available. She (the lady I talked to the precious day) was kind and I believe she TRIED to help me...it didn't work out that way but the effort was appreciated. If I had remembered the young lady's name I would not have told him! Her name would not have changed my situation. Needless to say (and the real reason for this review it's not about the early check in...) we only had to wait about 30 minutes to get our room....HOWEVER THE ROOM WAS DISGUSTING!!! I have the pictures of the hair, dirt and blood spots in the bed!!!!!! I have no words!!! We bring our own linen when we travel however when I pulled up the covers and saw how filthy the bed was...I could not believe it!!! And I have pictures! read more

Im not sure who or why they put "3star" hotel for this place, it is not even close to a 3 star hotel. The staff were very friendly and fast at getting us checked in and out. Pantry was small but had a decent selection of beer and what not. Nice to be able to charge it directly to the room. The walls in the room you can tell theres damage and who knows what on it and they just paint over it. Pillows were complete trash, zero support. Had to fold one in half to get any kind of support out of it. Tv is not a smart tv, you have to watch the guide channel auto scroll like its 1995. Tv is sitting on a short dresser so when your in bed you cant watch the tv unless you sit up. Too cheap to hang it on the wall i guess. Toilet was loose, would rock every time you sit on it. They supply shampoo, conditioner and body wash-the conditioner was empty. Shower is just your run of the mill fiberglass shower like you have at home. Bar/restaurant was closed on a Friday night (the only day i stayed) so that was super convenient that it was all shut down despite the website saying they were open mon-sat. If you want breakfast, its 15 dollars a person, you're better off going out to an actual restaurant. Very disappointed in the state of this hotel and its supposed "3 star" rating. They don't even put the garbage bags in the garbage cans, they just leave them on the table. Ive been to way cheaper hotels that had lower ratings that were miles ahead of this place and they had their garbage bags already installed. They also give you a little care package that has ear plugs and a mint in it. Should've been a red-flag right out of the gate. You do get a lot of highway/parking lot noise. If I was to come back to this area i would not stay here again. read more

I hate to be a complainer when I'm only staying somewhere one night however....pool out-of-order (and I swim for fitness), coffee maker broken, no hair conditioner in the machine in the shower, take out from the restaurant in the lobby was TERRIBLE. Staff was nice, though, and the room was clean. Meh. Whatever. The people of Kalamazoo were SUPER friendly and the Lyft drivers in the area are very nice and helpful. It was a completely different experience from the Sheraton in Ka'anapali, Maui which I was at just two weeks before. The attention to customer service is night and day...kinda weird. read more

We arrived at around 9 p.m. to check in for our weekend-long excursion of southwestern Michigan's breweries and wineries. No matter, the front desk checked us in relatively quickly and accommodated our request to have a room adjacent to our friends. Little touches like that make me feel like they care about making their customers happy. I have found that I get poorer service occasionally when I book through a travel site, but that certainly was not the case for us on our stay. We booked for about $110 per night and found it to be a terrific deal. Rooms were nicely-sized, beds were comfy, our room was made-up promptly (and another free bottle of water was left behind.) The gym is nice, as is the pool (I used neither, my focus was on beer and wine for the weekend!), and the lobby and hallways were kept clean. Parking is complimentary. I would definitely stay here again. (Pet-friendly with a small fee.) read more

We are here for the 2016 Synchronized Ice Skating Championships and staying at the Four Point Sheraton. Overall impression is below average. Lobby is open and fairly clean. Renovations are noted. Staying in room with 2 queen beds. Room is narrow, bathroom a little tight. Sucks that only the rooms with king sized beds have refrigerators. What a dumb idea! Usually family with children require refrigerators but obviously the hotel isn't children/family friendly. Wintery advisory warning with snow accumulation of 3-6 inches and windy but the hotel would not allow us to order in (pizza) for our girls. Rather have us buy from their unopened restaurant or drive out in the snow and eat out. Totally displeased with those options. You would think management would a bit flexible with the weather issue but the management only cares about profit rather than their tenants. Our other team stayed at the Holiday Inn Express and they understood our predicament and welcomed outside food. Very disappointed at the Four Points Kalamzoo. Will not be staying here end of the year for the Kick Off 2016 Synchro Competition. read more

Front desk staff were amazing. Rooms were clean and neat. Recently remodeled maybe? Housekeeping was great. But..... Hotel bar and restaurant were a JOKE! The kitchen was out of many different items on their menu. They and the LONE server could not handle anything bigger than a table of one. Food came out one dish at a time. At our table of six, the first couple were done eating before the last couple got their food. The food was bland. The breakfast buffet was nasty, not taken care of. Food was cold, overcooked. Visited the bar (they were advertising drink specials) and was given the extreme pleasure of paying five bucks for a beer that would have been maybe three anywhere else. read more

We stayed here as a group for a skating competition at the Wings rinks. I wish it looked like the pictures above with sunshine and green grass, but instead we got a snow storm and wind. Check-in was super easy and they were happy to split our bill among the four people staying in our room. We had two queen beds that might have been the most comfortable hotel beds I have ever slept in. The room itself was ample in size and I like the design of the bathroom. Staff were super friendly and there was always complimentary coffee available in the lobby in the mornings. There are also ample seating areas if you wanted to gather but not in the restaurant/bar area. I'm deducting a star for the lack of sound proofing and for the restaurant and bar area. Sound wise, not only could I hear every word spoke by the man in the room beside ours (bet he was glad to be beside us too), but every door slams shut and shakes the room/bed every time. I mainly blame our group for this one, and our good 'ol 5am wakeup calls, but there has to be a better way for a door to close and to add a little extra something in the walls. We had drinks the Thursday we arrived and our server was definitely new to the bar side. Drinks were not her specialty and the chocolate cakes our table ordered were still a bit frozen and not delicious. These were graciously removed from our bill after noticing that little was eaten. The buffet breakfast in the mornings is a good deal at $10 but again, service was spotty. There are limited restaurants surrounding the hotel and so I would recommend venturing outside of the hotel neighbourhood if you can. Overall, the beds and general service would bring me back to a Four Points hotel. The rates are very reasonable and overall the property is well maintained and updated. read more

Yuck. Filthy and when I set the coffee pot out of the tray so they could clean it was set back in the dirty tray with no coffee. Power outage ,no emergency generator and no emergency lights in most rooms or stairs. ( traveling with a group) Food was good and one employee (kayia I think) was a hard worker and jack of all trades. read more

Well, it wasn't awful. The staff was friendly, the hotel was clean, and the rooms were a good size. The Clarion is a good hotel if you want to feel like you're not staying in an inexpensive hotel. That said, there is a difference. There's no restaurant per se and absolutely no bar (did you hear me business travelers? I said NO BAR.). Most of the decor was pretty nice but I do take offense to the super-cheap plastic ceiling tile and plastic wood grain elevators. Okay, I'm off my snob-box. It's nice to have a few dining options within walking distance and that really isn't the case here. There is an Italian restaurant near but that's the only place you're likely to be able to walk - otherwise, you'll be driving. This is probably a personal preference - I get it. The experience was cumulative and unfortunately, this Clarion only accumulated 3 stars. read more

The beds here are like sleeping on clouds. The coffee is not typical watered down gross free morning coffee. It has some flavor to it. The staff are all very friendly and helpful. Free local craft beers on Wednesday nights is a big bonus too! I highly recommend staying here above the Holiday Inn across the parking lot (gross). read more

This pet-friendly hotel is a short-drive (less than 2 miles) to Wing Stadium. I decided to stay for a night after being in Kalamazoo Saturday afternoon, but attending the hockey game the next day. Room was neat and tidy, and the bed was firm King-Size bed. My only knock is that the curtains were not thick enough and the drapes did not close all the way. I was so tired, though that I slept right through any parking lot lights. Nice little restaurant just off the lobby ran happy hour special, which hit the spot. Check-in was one of the fastest I've experienced, which was perfect. Why stay here when you can save yourself at least $40 just down the road? For me, having carpeted floors during cold months is a huge plus. read more

I was happy that they accepted my UKC Champion dog - which makes sense for them as there are many dog shows throughout the year. (UKC is based in Kalamazoo.) I was in a pinch for a place to stay during a work trip and this place came through. They managed to get my colleague and I separate rooms when they were nearly booked for a weekend wrestling event. More than adequate rooms and extremely competitive pricing in the local area. Very clean rooms and a decent restaurant. The front desk staff was helpful and more than accommodating. Through the weekend we had an issue with crazy kids in the halls a night and the manager called the following day to make sure we were okay. That was above and beyond. read more

Clean, quiet and convenient. We stayed here while in town for a soccer tournament and were very pleased with the accommodations. Rooms are typical Sheraton quality with good linens and great mattresses. Breakfast with both hot and cold choices was good, but not great...adequate for fueling up for the morning, but don't be expecting a fancy meal. There was some pretty serious road construction going on that made the surrounding traffic patterns a little confusing. And the fact that the hotel sits a little bit back from the road made finding the front door slightly difficult. We picked up someone at another hotel to go out to dinner one night, and we are convinced... if we have to return next year, we definitely will be returning back to the Sheraton! read more

My wife, Kids, and I stayed here for a weekend. The hotel was fully booked. We were all in for wrestling state championship. Some of the parents brought food and snacks to pass around. After some of the staff enjoyed or food and drinks the hotel manager threatened to charge us extra per night for having it. Then they hired a security firm to patrol the halls the next day. The firm pretty much bitched at your kids for walking down the halls, for having your door cracked or open, and having it open talking to someone who was in the Hall. The one whole floor was almost all one club. Why the firm? Why not just offer the conference rooms that were unused? read more
