Really great prices, I think they likely have many other fast food places beat as far as that does. Burgers are very good, not too salty, only a bit greasy and good flavor. Nice, buttery french fires and the girl who took our order was alright and got our order correct. read more

My son and I were dying for some lunch after a day antique shopping. We saw Steak n Shake a d wanted to give it a try. If you've ever ate at a Freddy's it's pretty similar with their steak burgers and fries. However this place was so much better. Not only were the prices great for a large meal the food was tasty and fries perfect. They also offer some delicious desserts as well. Drive through employee was friendly and it was great to see her smiling. Yum! read more

This steak and shake experience was bad. The food...cardboard...the drinks dry ..the water dry...the service...dry...the workers didn't speak...the workers didn't work...the bathroom tissue dispenser was empty but the massive roll was there for me to constantly pick it up and keep unrolling it. The paper towel dispenser was empty had to keep touching what other people had touched...I don't care if they say that COVID is over I don't want to touch what others have touched with their nasty hands, that's unsanitary. This store was not so busy they couldn't fill the dispenser, they weren't working much at all, they even took the time to sing in the kitchen. I'm used to steak n shake cooks coming out to greet me and ask how the food was, since they've updated the place even the service has hanged along with the food. The menu...where has all the great food choices gone to? I won't be back. They could stand to do so much better. read more

I just wanted to compliment the young woman who was in the cash register at about 5:15-5:30 on Thursday April 6, 2023. Happened to set near the register and heard her say something kind to every customer she waited on, and every compliment was unique and felt genuine. Wish I had caught her name. It's always been busy when we've been there but the food was always good and the servers were always friendly. I read some of the other reviews on here and I was blown away with the stupidity I was reading. One person complained about waiting 45 minutes in the drive through with 10 cars in front of them? Lol obviously. They cook when you order. This isn't McDonald's where it's all sitting there pre-made. It's also a brand new restaurant with brand new employees. Don't go in there when you're in a hurry and you'll have a great experience. read more

Every time my boyfriend and I have sat in the booths to eat the this restaurant it was a wonderful experience. But when we went to order to go it was a different story. They forgot my drink and gave us regular fries instead of Cajun, both were cold and soggy. When we went to the car to eat the burgers were smooshed and they put so much onion on my burger I couldn't eat it. I offered it to my boyfriend and he almost threw up and handed it back. They forgot the salsa on his burger as well. Hopefully it's not going to be the same experience when we decide to go back. read more

I love steak n shake, but today i was totally disappointed in the west plains SNS! Ordered 3 doubles and 3 orders of onion rings. We got our order and went to our hotel and took food out of the bag, burgers were good! Rings, had 4 rings in each holder! Are you kidding me? Did I really spend 45 minutes in a drive through fast food joint for a just average burger and a chocolate shake with bits of soft ice in it? Well, as embarrassing as it is, I did. When I finally got to the pay window where my food wasn't ready yet, I informed the cashier of my time in line. So disappointed. I waited until they were open for quite a while before going bc I'd heard they were having trouble. Finally went tonight and sat in the order line for 40 minutes. I figured if the wait was still that bad, surely the food must be awesome....wrong. So wrong. The chicken strips were luke-warm, crunchy and with a burned taste that tasted like they had been in spoiled oil. One of them was about the size of a half dollar coin and didn't really have any actual meat in it. The fries were okay but not hot. The shake was pretty good tho! Absolutely the worst service ever at a Steak n Shake!! My wife and I were sat by a young lady who later identified herself as a manager. We were sat in a booth across from the counter in plain view of every server who was in the place. We waited just under 20 minutes and still had not one employee acknowledge us. We ended up leaving!!! Not before we observed everyone sat after us getting their drinks or food. The first time my wife and I ate here, it took over an hour for us to get our food. The second time we went through the drive through I ordered a burger and ended up with a patty melt instead. The THIRD time we ate there we ordered two shakes, 1 birthday cake and 1 cookie dough, and we both got poorly crafted vanilla shakes with about two pieces of topping in them. This town has waited a long time to get a Steak'n'shake. Its really disappointing to say that I have more trust in McDonald's getting my order right and in providing quality services than what we receive at Steak'n'shake in West Plains. They wont be getting any more of my business. BEWARE!!!! If you have a coupon for Steak N Shake in West Plains, MO they WILL NOT ACCEPT IT. I signed up on line for the e-club, and then I received an e-mail with an offer of a free Double Steak burger and fries for becoming an e-club member. I printed off 2 coupons thinking maybe my husband could use the other. BEFORE we even ordered our food we ask the waitress if we could use both coupons and she said yes, no problem. We order our food, plus shakes (as an extra treat). So, I went to the register to pay the bill, I laid the 2 coupons down and that was when everything went South! I was told by the cashier that "they were literally just told by the manger minutes ago, that we do not accept these coupons" I then ask to talk to the manager (didn't get name, but he was short & bald) he explains they do not accept the "paper coupons" he didn't give a rats behind that I got it directly from Steak N Shake for signing up for the e-club. After a heated 3 minute go around, I paid the bill, gave him a piece of my mind and left. The manager didn't even offer any kind of restitution whatsoever, poor management if you ask me especially if you are loosing customers. Just makes me wonder if this is why all the Steak N Shakes in the St. Louis area closed, due to lousy management. I will NEVER eat at this Steak N Shake again!!! read more
