A great find in Amberg While walking the quaint streets of Amberg, we decided to eat here. The we were seated quickly at a table with plenty of room for our party of five. I don't remember if there were English menus, but our waiter spoke English and talked us through our order. Everything about our meal was very good. The meat is cooked in an open grill, located in the bar area. You can see the magic as it happens. Again, the service was very good, my beer glass was never empty. Sehr unprofessionelles Personal/Reservierung! Kunde NICHT König! 1) Wenn ein Restaurant auf der Homepage die Möglichkeit einer Online-Reservierung anbietet, dann erwartet der Kunde i. Allg. auch, dass hier eine zeitnahe Zu- oder Absage eintrifft und NICHT, dass der Kunde nach 5 Tagen kurz vor den Feierlichkeiten nochmals hinterherrufen muss, ob die Reservierung nun bestätigt ist oder nicht. 2) Wenn ein Restaurant eine zeitliche Begrenzung auf Tische vorhält, dann sollte das dem Kunden auch so VOR (spätestens bei/unmittelbar nach) der Reservierung mitgeteilt werden. Ohnehin ein absolutes Unding generell. Aber uns dann an meiner 60. Geburtstagsfeier rauszuschmeißen vor all und mit meinen Gästen ohne jegliche Vorabinformation, dass die Tische zeitlich begrenzt sind, ist das absolut Unprofessionellste was ich in meinem ganzen Leben erfahren durfte!!! Und auf meinen Hinweis, dass ich die Info bis dato nicht erhalten habe, mit den Schultern zu zucken und den dummen Spruch "...dann müssen wir das halt noch auf der Homepage irgendwann ergänzen..." abzugeben, ohne jegliche Lösungsoption war die Krönung des Ganzen. Wahnsinnig unprofessionelles (Fehl-)Verhalten des Restaurantpersonals und das bei einem für Amberger Verhältnisse nicht ganz günstigen Lokal. Das hat mir meine ganze Geburtstagsfeier versaut. Very hungry after a LONG day at work... a colleague suggested steak... we were agreeable- so off to the Amberg Marktplatz we went. Very nice steakhouse, we felt underdressed being casual. Started off with a round of Kristallweizen beers, nice and cold. I had the ribeye, salad, and fried potatoes. My co-workers had surf and turf and T-Bone steak. The meals were ENORMOUS and delicious. We decided to try "Frenchy's" our last night n Amberg, and I am glad we did. All I can say is the steaks are pretty fantastic. i was told by a co-worker that the beef here is imported from Argentina, rather than using local "older" cows. FYI, we tried coming on Monday, but they are closed. The decor is pretty neat and cozy. It has a very rustic feel to it. The staff was very helpful, but I felt the owner was a bit pushy with selling the appetizers. i am glad that I decided to get the carpaccio though. It was amazing. For my entree I got the fillet with mushrooms. It was cooked perfect and so tender. Next time I would ask for the mushrooms on the side though, as my plate was smothered. All in all, I was very impressed. just expect to pay a bit more than the other local locations. read more

This is one of the best steakhouses that I visited in Europe. The steaks are prepared with care of a master chef. The cuts are tender and never overdone. The staff is attentive and speak both German and English. The steaks are cooked in a French style which is a change from most German restaurants. I would recommend eating here. I've been coming here for over seven years and even though Frenchy no longer own the place, they have preserved the character and the excellent customer service. It's a must visit if you are in the Amberg area. read more

After taking a trip to Amburg and walking around the cathedral plaza for hours at night, it was time to find a few places to eat on yelp and have a nice meal. After seeing a few I decided on this restaurant and it did not disappoint. Reservations were needed and the restaurant was very busy but I asked if I could wait and after about 20 minutes I got a seat. Inside was cozy with an open kitchen and fire where the steaks were being grilled and other dishes prepared. It has a warm and friendly atmosphere where you really feel like you are mingling with everyone inside the restaurant durring your meal. The food was excellent, although on the more pricy side, but definitely worth it. I had the tomato cream soup which was delicious and filled with large croutons, perfect for a cold night! I followed that with the land and sea entre which included a nice size cut of filet mignon large prawns along with a side of croquettes. The fillet was cooked perfectly to my order and had a wonderful smokey flavor from the wood burning fire it was cooked over. Add a nice local draft beer to complete the meal and I was very happy. Very cool restaurant. Went there with friends on a Friday night, the place was packed, we had to wait 30 mins, but it was worth it. Atmosphere is perfect for a steakhouse. The 4 Euro Carpaccio was amazing, cannot get the same quality for this little money anywhere else. T-bone steak is the best, be sure to tell the waiter how you wanted your steak to be done, otherwise they will just cook it medium-ish. Also, their fries are aMAzing! they come with the steak but we ended up ordering 2 extra plates of fries, because it was that good. read more

It is worth flying all of the way to Germany to dine in this restaurant. The owner and staff are hard working, very cool, and hilarious! The food is beyond amazing, I would have to say it is the best steak I have ever tasted. From the appetizers to the dessert, everything is out of this world! A hidden gem. read more

Up front, here's the downside to this place - 1) it is pricey, 2) you need to make a reservation at peak times or you will be waiting for a seat. That's about it. Since you probably already expect those two things going into a steakhouse near an American post in Germany, I'd say the good more than makes up for the downside. The steaks are amazing, and you don't have to get the top-shelf Argentinian beef to have a good meal; the normal cuts are just as delicious and the menu options are creative. If you want to have a glass of wine with dinner, the selection is good and the staff is helpful if you're just not sure what to pick. Set aside a few extra Euro and make a stop here at least once before you leave Germany. The restaurant is just a short (~5-10 minute) walk from the Amberg Bahnhof parking garage. It's setting is great for a nice date night or a small group outing, but don't forget to call and make a reservation! read more

Went here to have dinner with a friend and we both LOVED the food. We both had the filet mignon with king prawns...it was just soooooo good! The food was very tasty and flavorful, service was amazing, and the staff was super friendly and polite. The only reason why I'm giving it 4 stars is because the place smelled a bit funky...not too bad though....but still. You have the option to sit outside as well so I'm definitely going to do that next time read more

This restaurant was a tie for my favorite restaurant in Amberg. They grill your meat on a open fire place and is very rustic. I had the pork medallions and it was some of the best pork I have ever eaten. The price was around 25 Euros for each meal but was well worth it. read more

Allgemein Nur löbliche Worte für die neue Inhaberin "Steffi", hier hat sich einiges bewegt! Bedienung Nachdem der alte Chef nun abgetreten ist, kann man wieder bedenkenlos dort Einkehr halten. Sehr freundliche und rege Platzzuweisung von der Chefin selbst. Das übrige Servicepersonal war ebenso sehr freundlich und immer "gut drauf" (hatte immer einen lockeren, aber nie abstossenden Spruch übrig!) Also jedenfalls völlig anders, als zu Alains Zeiten!!! Einzig auffällig war, dass nach / beim Abtragen nicht nachgefragt wurde, ob noch Wünsche bestünden...Da darf nachgebessert werden! Das Essen Mein Filet-Steak mit Pfifferlingen und Pommes war ein wahrer Schmaus. Pommes in frischem Fett frittiert, Salat ausreichend portioniert und das Steak war auf den Punkt gegrillt - einmalig!! Meine Partnerin hatte ein Puten-Steak, von dem ebenso nur geschwärmt wurde! Das Ambiente Wir sassen im linken Gastraum, welcher mit dicken, dunklen Holzbalken abgetrennte Tische bietet. Hier war es sehr gemütlich und der störende Grillgeruch (wie von anderen beschrieben) war hier nicht zu vernehmen. Trotz zahlreicher antiken Deko wie Kaffeemühlen usw. war alles sehr ordentlich und sauber. Keine Spinnweben, die beim Vorbesitzer schon mal zu sehen waren... Ich persönlich würde diesen linken Gastraum bevorzugen, da im rechten Raum der Grill und der Zugang zur Küche hinten die Ruhe vermissen lassen, die zu einem gediegenen Essen gehört!
