Our waitress at this establishment was fast and friendly. I ordered the fried dill pickles, they were ok. Different than what I'm used to, not sure what the breading was made of. It almost had a potato chip consistency. The portion was HUGE but lacked flavor overall including the ranch it came with. Maybe a bit of buffalo sauce might help. My daughter loved her pineapple pizza, it smelled really good. My husband ordered the beer cheese hamburger sticks. He liked them alright but I thought the smell of the beer cheese was reminiscent of a dirty wash cloth. I don't think it was a cleanliness issue. I feel very neutral about this place. We just moved into the area, and there isn't a lot of restaurants so we hit this place up on our 2nd night here. We ordered 3 different pizzas - Mac to the Future, Hot Brown, and a Peperoni. All 3 were really good, my son loved the Mac and cheese pizza. Since we're still trying to get all settled, and were running late doing errands and fixing up stuff we needed food the Sunday of the mountain mushroom festival so we were a bit concerned about what they might have left. Only thing they were out of/low on it seemed was some of their beer. O'well. This time it was just my wife and I and we ordered the Il Postino... and I can say I may now have a favorite pizza (and I'm not a big sausage on pizza guy). The crusts on all the pizza's we've had have been great, nothing is over sauces, and the meat's are a grease feast. I really like these guys and they are the only one who delivers to the hollar. I have never been to the place and have always had delivery. For the most part it's pretty good, it's just that the apps don't make it as well for delivery as they may when you eat them in house. They have a nice selection of beer, I'd love to go in and drink it! read more

I am in town visiting for work and stopped in here. The service was excellent and everyone is very friendly. The wings were good and I really like their blue cheese. I tried the Stromboli and it was ok. I will try the pizza next time. The atmosphere is great and I like the bar area. I tried this place a second time and definitely recommend the pizza. Stopped in after a hike. They have a mac&cheese pizza. Good, but a bit much for me. The name is the best though: Mac to the Future! All the names are from movies. They also offer an almost gluten free pizza. Not sure what that really means but could be good for some. This place will definitely satisfy the most ravenous meat eater in the house. read more

First visit here and was highly impressed. Friday night, UK basketball game was winding down, and there was a pretty good crowd. Service was still excellent and the food made to order. Okay, so maybe I'm biased because this place is local to me. It's still darn tasty and definitely worth visiting if you happen to find yourself in Irvine, Kentucky. The location is on Main Street and if you've never been there, it may be a little tough to find. Parking is decent, mostly street-side. However if it's busy, they offer take away with the ability to phone in your order. Don't get it twisted. This is NOT chain pizza. This is pizza made fresh on a local level. Fresh dough. Fresh toppings. Nothing is "pre-prepared" and trucked in. Probably some of the best pizza and cheese sticks you'll ever put in your mouth. Seriously. Know what's even cooler? They have a bar. They serve beer. They have big screen TV's, and even though the atmosphere can seem perky and upbeat, there's also a hint of "quaint" to it and that's part of the small town charm. The waitstaff are all super friendly and polite, the wait TIME is minimal, depending on crowd, and the dining area/bar were both extremely clean and well kept. There's a completely separate dining area partitioned off from the "bar" portion so if you're only interested in having a piping hot pie, or if you're uninterested in adult beverages, there's ample seating and is more geared towards "dining". We eat here all the time! The Hot Brown Pizza is fantastic! I usually get a salad, which are HUGE. They used great mixed greens, and it comes with fresh breadsticks. On special occasions, we get the big cookie in a pan and it is so, so good. We love having this place in town! Now with the session room, it's great for meetings and to attend concerts. read more

Would give zero stars, the service is terrible! Our pizza came out after waiting over an hour and it was uncooked it was raw, I told the lady after waiting 20 mins for a server to come over and she asked if I wanted her to make another, no thanks another hour to wait after my friends had all finished eating! So I suggested a credit, they never even offered it. And barely did it. They didn't get my order right and were snotty. On top of all that our servers never came by to refill drinks we had to get them ourselves and they weren't even busy most the time hanging around the front counter. Just had a great experience at Steam Engine. Meets all the basic requirements (which lots or restaurants struggle with). The place is clean, the staff is friendly and the food is pretty good. Sure, this is Irvine, not the big city, so it's not a high bar, but we (from out of town) were still very pleased. Our server was very friendly and even brought me a free beer sample after a good discussion of local KY craft beers. Pizza was also very good. We had kids with us, so we didn't get try any of the specialty pizzas, though they had a good variety. Given the limited options in Irvine, I would more than recommend the Steam Engine! read more
