The intake process was simple, and the owner had my son wash his hands before and keep his mask on while he climbed. The owner also kept the door open, so there was no foul smell as there is normally at rock gyms. The owner also went out of his way to given our son climbing tips and suggestions. When our son started developing blisters on his hands, the owner let our son know that he could take a break and use the slack line that was hung outside. Our teenage son had a blast here and ended up going back in after using the slack line and stopping only when all of his blisters had popped and were bleeding! (Gross, I know, but a testament to how much fun he was having.) While our son was climbing the owner let us know that there was availability for a private lesson the next day where the owner would take our son and his friends to a nearby natural bouldering/rock climbing spots and teach them whatever skills they wanted to learn. The price was reasonable, and my son was excited to climb in a natural setting. Unfortunately, the popped blisters meant we would have to try this cool option another time. We love seeing entrepreneurs succeed and hope the owner of LCA is able to survive the pandemic.

Long story short, he didn't show up on the day we booked & then couldn't take us out on the date we rescheduled for. He didn't communicate either with us, so we showed up on both dates. I'm not sure if this experience is unique or not, and perhaps others would have better luck with the owner. However...my partner and I booked a half-day climbing trip online. It was a LOT of money, which we were fine spending for a positive experience rock climbing outdoors in CO. We showed up on the day of the trip - a Sunday. It said to arrive 15 minutes early (for an 8am trip) so we arrived around 7:45am expecting to need to fill out paperwork or grab gear or something. There was a van that was parked as though it was in a hurry - diagonally across a couple of parking spots. The door to the climbing center was unlocked but all of the lights were off & the place smelled strongly of weed. We shouted out to see if someone was there & no one responded. We exited and sat in our car waiting a few minutes, thinking we were too early. We called about 5 minutes before 8 & then at 8 & then at 8:15 or so. The phone was apparently not even connected. Because of the very weird circumstances, we figured something bad had occurred (unlocked door, haphazardly parked van, lights off, no one apparently there or at least not responsive) and we called the police non-emergency number out of legitimate concern for the safety of the person who was supposed to be meeting us. We waited another 15 minutes before emailing (we couldn't leave a VM because the phone wasn't connected) and heading to do something else. The owner then called us later that day - around 3p for the 8a trip - to try to rectify the situation. He apologized but didn't offer an explanation & then offered us to go another weekend. We set up the replacement trip for the following weekend on Saturday at 8a. I confirmed with him that we'd receive a confirmation via email, but Again, we showed up around 7:45a and were a bit reticent. The door was locked this time, at least. The van was out front again, so we sat in our car and waited. Right around 8a we saw the owner of the climbing gym unloading a cooler, so we got out of our car and approached him. He looked up at us seemingly VERY confused & said "can I help you?" At that point, we knew he had again had forgotten about the trip we'd set up. He said he thought we were going the following day (a Sunday) even though my partner and I were both on the phone when we confirmed with him we'd be going on Saturday. He goes to the Farmer's Market for a different business (some drink thing?) every Saturday, but booking a climbing trip on Saturday is still possible online. So if you're reading this and plan to book a trip, DON'T book Saturday. He won't be there. He offered to take us out the next day or another week but we were in Steamboat for a limited time and really couldn't reschedule. He also offered to take us out for free another time - giving us a refund - but then immediately walked back on that and said he'd give a $100 discount. I understand not wanting to work for free because the work he puts in is certainly worth more than that, but at this point we've showed up twice for two confirmed trips, neither of which he took us on. We just wanted the refund and to stop wasting our time, so that was the approach we went.

They have a lot of great facilities, weight room, cardio available just lots of stuff. They have this cool, gymnastics area. It's really fun to watch. The cool thing about it is there's a water park available and a swimming pool. The hot tub is really big. They had the cutest little recreational river. It's really small, but it's really relaxing. I saw they had a rock climbing wall as well, and it went pretty high. Amenities are pretty good. Locker room could be a bit cleaner, but it was cool that it was available and they had two different size lockers available as well. Bathrooms were pretty clean. Recommend if you're in the area and you need a gym. Or a fun time with the kids.

All of that was included. The rooms were old, but nice. Bunk for the kids and queen bed for us. We stayed in one of the lodges. There was a common room with a fireplace and some games we utilized, too. We had a mini fridge and microwave. We used those for storing breakfast and lunch items and the microwave for popcorn at night. Was a nice stay! The cross country skiing trails were great, even with the limited snow that this year has brought. Great workout and loads of fun. We did that with our kids for a few hours each day (January stay).

Jason was awesome! He explained everything, providing expert guidance throughout our climb of the 3rd Flatiron. I had never done any technical outdoor climbs before, all indoor, but living in Boulder, I felt this was a must. I was a little nervous at first, but I never felt unsafe, and the more we climbed, the easier it all felt. The summit? Spectacular! I can never look at the Flatirons again the same way. Repelling off the back was just as fun. Again, never done it before, but Jason walked us through it all and made it seem so easy. Yeh, I got the bug, and I can't wait to do it again! If you've been thinking about it.. if it's been on your mind.. don't wait anymore. DO IT! You will thank yourself you did.

I was able to book a bed in a co-ed shared dorm for like $80 that night and it was pretty decent. They have a nice big parking lot and when I arrived one of the staff came from a nearby cabin and helped me move my bags inside. They have clear instructions about everything inside, it was a smooth check in and checkout. I would def stay again - it was perfect as a single night after a long day of hiking in the national park, and an early morning again hiking in the national park the next day.
