If you are looking for a great pediatric dentist, look no further. Dr. Steckler and his staff are so kind and gentle. While my children were getting their teeth cleaned, another family arrived. The littler boy was very shy and the dental hygienist went out of her way to make him comfortable. Safety measures are in place at this office. You must call when you arrive to limit capacity and for COVID-19 screening questions. When the staff is ready for you, you walk inside and get your temperature checked. Everyone is spaced apart and dividers are in place to ensure patients are separated from one another. While there is usually a play room and lots of old and new video games, they have all been removed due to COVID-19. I look forward to their return one day. When my son was six months old, I noticed some black spots on his teeth, panicked, asked for dentist recommendations for infants, and was suggested to see Dr. Steckler. My son has now been coming here for about two years for twice yearly check-ups! I am impressed with the friendly staff, the facility, and Dr. Steckler himself! The waiting room includes a sea-themed playroom for kids attached to the typical waiting space. The staff is always happy and able to help in any way they can. Dr. Steckler is very friendly and personable (on our last visit, he noticed my son's new light-up shoes and got him excited), completely understands kids, and is very easy-going. I also love that all dental work is done in one open room, so everyone can see everything going on and it cuts back on any unease for kids and parents. After the appointment, kids get to pick a small toy and a toothbrush, which is always fun! My kid always leaves with a smile. read more

My daughter is 2.5 and had her first ever dentist appointment today with Dr. Steckler. The waiting room is fun an inviting for kids and my daughter loved playing in the little play area in the front. The staff was very friendly and welcoming and everyone made an extra effort to ease my daughter's fears because let's face it - the dentist is scary even for adults! The treatment/exam space is an open area which is a little different but allows the kids to see the other kids being worked on without being scared. Dr. Steckler was very personable and explained everything he was looking for to us thoroughly and what to expect from the appointment and in the future. After the exam kids get to choose a toy from the treasure chest, which was a big hit! I would definitely recommend this office for parents and feel we made a great choice in coming here for our daughter's dental care. read more

My son was a little over a year old when he fell and chipped both front teeth. We rushed to a pediatric dentist and it was horrible experience... my son was terrified and the dentist was not very good with children. I grabbed our files and left. A friend recommended Dr. Steckler and I decided it couldn't be worse then the last dentist. His demeanor with my son was awesome. His office is light and bright and the staff are super patient. This is the dentist I wish I had as a kid! The office staff is great. Scratch that, they're fantastic. Beyond helpful and friendly from the phone call to schedule, to the person that handles the billing at the end of the appointment. Dr. Steckler is a great guy. He'll chat with you, and then is great with kids. If he did adult dentistry, I'd gladly see him. To make things just a little bit better we got to talking about a trip he just made to Haiti to help the kids down there. He's just a great guy. My kid loves going, I do too. read more

Everyone is so so nice here. The facility is clean, and the environment is interactive for children. The back area with the dental chairs is open, which is different but much appreciated. Although my son has no issues hopping up in the dental chair, I imagine the openness goes a long way towards earning a child's or mom's trust. I also really love that Steckler does not push unnecessary procedures. He really takes the future relationship between him and his client into consideration when divesting if/when something should be done. read more

So let me start by saying Dr. Steckler is an amazing dentist, and the place is actually really great. I gave this three stars because we got a letter out of the blue that they had dropped our insurance and we had to find a new provider within 17 days of the letter. It was very abrupt. We had hoped to keep our daughter with a longstanding dentist and pediatrician, and made sure to find an insurance plan that covered both. She had been going there for 5 years, and when we called to discuss what had happened the front desk was nothing but rude, and the person they referred us to as a replacement for Dr. Steckler had horrible reviews. Imagine going from a 5 star dentist to a 2 star whose reviews state they like to perform a lot of dental surgery to drive up costs on kids! Yikes! When we asked what out of pocket would cost, it ended up being more than what us adults pay to get a cleaning. It was all just very disappointing to know we had to move on, but also that they didnt even seem to care. Long story short, we were really bummed with how they handled this situation, we understand that everyone has to do what they have to do to survive as a business, but considering how insurance is expensive, and there is a general lack of insurance in Kentucky for small business owners, and some people need help with insurance plans, to be dropped out of the blue and have to scramble to find a new doctor can be quite overwhelming for a family. It seems like money and rates are now more important than cultivating lifelong relationships between children and their doctors. In the end, the kids lose out. read more

Great pediatric dentist! The playroom in the waiting area is super cute. The office is very kid-friendly. All of the staff are very nice. Dr. Steckler takes time to explain everything. He didn't make me feel rushed. The office staff are competent. The receptionist was readily able to answer questions I had on the phone. This is second pediatric dentist we have tried in Lexington, and I was much more satisfied with everything at this office. read more

Find another dentist! We had a routine teeth cleaning done in July in which Dr. Steckler said everything was perfect, no cavities everything looked good. Upon the return home and inspecting the teeth myself, I noticed alot of plaque still left on the teeth. We went to another dentist a few months later to have the dentist scrape off the plaque build-up left behind, and to find out a cavity was present and it was so bad it had to have a baby root canal. read more
