Lots of ducks were out with the little babies. Looks like there's a little fun area with rides for kids and food. It wasn't open for the season looks like. A little ways down was a big aviary with over 300 hundred birds, all kinds of species. Not sure what the admission price was since we didn't go in but we saw lots of families entering. We didn't get to explore the whole park, it was so big. It's a great place to picnic but watch for duck poop on the grass!

The garden was the passion project of Thomas Child, an LDS bishop and Salt Lake City businessman. Located in what used to be his backyard, he started the garden when he was 57 years old and worked on it until his death nearly 20 years later! A neighbor then bought the property and made it available for public visitation, and it was ultimately handed over to the city for longterm maintenance and preservation. I don't mean to be insensitive at all, but the garden is one of the most fabulously weird places I've ever visited. The park contains 12 original sculptures that depict various scenes from the Book or Mormon. My favorites include a sphinx with the face of Joseph Smith, and the sacrificial altar dedicated to Childs' wife. "Gilgal" refers a city and valley in LDS literature, and the name means circle of standing stones. If you're in Salt Lake City, this garden is definitely worth a visit. Admission is free, and the park is open from 8AM to 8PM. It's located in a residential neighborhood, so please be respectful of the neighbors. Add this to your list of favorite roadside bits of unique Americana.

A stream cuts through the park, creating a relaxing and peaceful space. There are several displays that commemorate the spirit of freedom and liberty in our country. The installations invite you to reflect on these foundational ideas. Some of the installations were in disrepair and could benefit from some TLC. Still, it's worth a visit.

I also love that this park has trail access to so many other trails in the area! Parking can be hard to find depending on the day. It's usually fairly busy but mornings and afternoons are the best time to go if you want something more chill.

I love that each section is thoughtfully done with each countries flag and a unique contribution. Greece and Vietnam were two of my favorites. We spent over an hour here and this would be such a great place to catch up with a friend, teach kids about different flags or even just walk your dog. When someone came to knock on my window and ask if I needed "something" and then they also asked for a cigarette.!! The 711 gets gone through a few times a day. I've seen police there on and off! It might be suitable with Someone and their dog. I don't think the people will bother you in that case, but I don't recommend walking alone, especially if you're female!

This has everything I love in a park... bridges, waterfalls, steps, and more. Great place to walk your dogs, have a picnic, or just read a book. I'm definitely going out of my way to walk here again next time I'm in SLC. So pretty, so green, so peaceful. Make a stop then head to Memory Grove afterwards!

It is very scenic with the rolling lawns and Wasatch Mountains as a backdrop. Their "Pavilion" is more realistically named a picnic area. Face it, the average local family wouldn't fit their extended family in this four-benched "Pavilion". There is a baseball backstop, but BYOB (bring your own bases!), and I have no idea what the blue lines on the basketball court are for ... but they aren't for hoops! As well, there is a bit of a trash problem ... and the toilets are, in my humble opinion, Squat At Your Own Risk. There are also some cool bronze sculptures lining the area, definitely worth checking out as you stroll along...

Spent some time in Temple Square when I was in town this week for a conference…read more I learned about the Restoration from statues on the grounds, entered the tabernacle to view the massive organ inside, and was impressed by the architecture of both the Assembly Hall and the Temple, which is currently closed for restorations till April 2027, after which it will be open to the general public for 6 months. Will be back, as I wasn't able to attend the noon choir during this trip.
