One of the only places opened early in the morning! Came here around 9am, hard to miss the store. Entered to a very welcoming display of pastries. Was looking for something hearty and inquired about the quiches and opted for the bacon and garlic quiche. Got a latte macchiato as well. You can dine in and the quiche comes with a small salad. The latte macchiato had a layer of foam at the top and seems like they didn't sweeten it at all (sugar on the side) but it was perfect! I usually have a huge sweet tooth and love sweetness but I also can appreciate a good coffee as well, so for a sweet lover like me, the unsweetened version was amazing by itself and the foamed milk combination when you drink it was perfect. The bacon quiche was delicious as well!! They heat it up for you and it's a bacon, cheese with a crusted layer of goodness. Loved my first experience here and I can see myself coming back. read more

This Steiner Flughafebeck location was recommended as a good place for a modestly priced lunch in a very expensive Zurich. It was within an easy walk of our hotel, so we followed the recommendation. There were four of us and after eating such great food in Paris and along the Rhine in Germany, to be honest we were disappointed. We all had one of their soups. Ms T and I goulash soup and Tom Kha Gai respectively. I had a beer. These soups are not inspired, despite the recommendation. I would classify them as pretty institutional. My Tom Kha Gai had very little of the flavor that you expect. In fact we had a much better version on our cruise boat and the boat is not exactly the place to get great soups. There was very little lime or seasonings. Ms T's Goulash Soup was about the same. It did not taste of the rich paprika flavors it should have. I would classify it as average beef vegetable soup. We liked the little robot that delivers your food, but as for the food, it is OK, but don't expect to be impressed, if you like well flavored soups. And for $50 for two modest bowls of soup and one beer, I would expect better. This is a significant chain of restaurants in Zurich. You are getting fast-food quality. read more

We were staying at the Renaissance Tower Hotel on a Sunday, and this was the only open nearby place other than the hotel to get food. We were glad we gave it a try. There's a decent variety of food offerings, from sandwiches and salads to quiches, pretzels, and many sweet items. They were out of the oft-mentioned pretzel with cream cheese, but they did have the ones with butter (and lots of it!) There's a case with beverages, including white wine (red available from the cashier). And there are plenty of comfortable places to sit, both hard and soft. We had a couple of sandwiches, a cinnamon roll, and drinks. We watched their cute little robot deliver food and take away dirty dishes. The place is larger than it looks from outside. We were looking for someplace close by the Renaissance Hotel in Zürich where we were staying that had some soup. We were told that this Bäckerei also had both soup and sandwiches, besides just the pastries. We got the Tom Yum Gai soup, which hit the spot, as it was getting cold being late November. Not only was the soup good, but the price was reasonable too. The sweets looked great, but I'm on a low sugar diet. There were four or five tables in this bakery, and the lighting was nice, so the atmosphere was very comfortable. Everyone at the counter (where you order) was very pleasant. Oh I really enjoyed Steiner Flughafebeck! This place was delicious and and when you walk in your eyes do not hold anything back. In my short trip to Zurich I came in here several days and I always walked out a happy camper! The first day I got a pretzel with creme cheese and it was so good. I should have bought like 3 of them because they tasted so darn good. The second day I got a pretzel with butter, still good just not as good as the creme cheese one. The other food in here looks amazing. I wish the hours were a little longer. They close at 7 p.m and would be better if they were open for dessert. Overall I love this place! read more

Right next to the Renaissance Tower. Fluent English speakers and helpful (but curt) staff. I agree with other reviews; definitely get the cream cheese pretzel. Ours had a green onion cream cheese that was so delicious! The pretzel wasn't available the first day we went because they're not out until "half nine." We didn't know if that meant 8:30 or 9:30, so we waited until 9:30 on our second day to go over. The latte macchiatos are large and delicious. We also got the bacon quiche, ham (? That's what the staff said it was, but it was more like a sausage) croissant, and a chocolate croissant. Everything was delicious. Love this place! So many fresh baked goods. Warning....if you are on a diet don't step foot inside Excellent coffee and you MUST get at least one cream cheese filled pretzle It opens nice and early. I went back later in the day & many items were sold out! read more
