Great hair braiding experience! The place is clean and the stylist is talented. I plan to come here several times a year.

I had no wait and I got a wash, blow and curl, and was pleased with how my hair turned out. The prices are more than reasonable and the products smell delightful. Also, it's a very inviting and clean environment. So glad, I found this gem. I will now be a regular.

I just moved to the area and was in desperate need for a good cut to bring back my curl pattern. My last cut was not so good, so needless to say I was super happy to find Jalena's via Yelp, and being only 13 minutes from me, win win!!! They take walk ins and there is metered parking in the front. I went on a Tuesday, and found a spot right in front. The place is neat and comfy. They only take cash, but they do have an ATM in the back. I had stopped in The previous Saturday to get a feel for the place and they were very busy. I asked for the curl expert because I have really fine curly hair which can get frizzy, and if not cut properly look awkward. I was guided to Elizabeth and so finally on Tuesday, today, I got to see her to fix this mess lol. The salon was pretty empty which I liked, and they get you in the shampoo chair as soon as you get in. This was one of THE best shampoos I have gotten, albeit a bit rough, but it sure gets all that product residue out. Their products smell AMAZING!!! This day I got the perk of a free heat deep conditioner, which I welcomed happily. They were a bit short staffed so that was the perk and I didn't mind waiting. This hair needed some love! While I was under the dryer I saw Evelyn work on some people and she is efficient and knows what to do with all hair types. I watched her put in some extensions and they were flawless. I was excited to be next! She asked me what I needed and I explained my last hair cut wasn't layered enough. She went in, worked her magic and immediately I felt my curls bounce back! Just with a good cut! She asked me first the length prior to cutting and I was happy with her suggestion. I had to get back to work so I didn't have time for a blow out, but she put some product in my hair, clipped it up and stuck me under the dryer so the curls can have some form. All I can say is GRACIAS BELLA!!! She was efficient, attentive, sweet, and knowledgeable!! I have a wedding to go in a few weeks and most certainly will be back to get it styled. I am so happy to have found Jalena's, just look at my smile! Best part rates are reasonable!! Go, wait if you must, but so worth it! Happy hair days!!

I don't let everyone do my brows, and have reluctantly floated around to different nail salons in…read morethe city trying to achieve a certain look. Unfortunately, most places are prone to over-plucking my thick brows, when most of the time I just want a subtle shaping or clean-up. Unfortunately, my requests most often get lost in translation. So, I was happy to see this place pop up in my Groupon search, and happier when I realized they are black-owned. I arrived on time, and waited in the car to be texted on when to come in. I appreciated them doing this for safety during this pandemic. Masks were worn and my temperature was also taken. I waited a bit long to be texted, but based on hearing her tell another customer they were running behind, I let that go. Everyone is adjusting to this new normal. Cortney did my brows and I think they came out looking great. I didn't even have to tell her to just do a soft arch and not overpluck them. I think she did one of the best jobs I have seen in years on these brows. I really can't overstate enough how frustrating it is how some of these salons just immediately go to taking off too much of my brow. Cortney was really pleasant, and I didn't have an issue getting an appt right away (no one answered the phone originally - so maybe they were overwhelmed). I think I'll return. Oh yeah, they also have a little parking lot.

Although this salon is listed as natural…read morehair care it may be mainly because of the products not because of knowledge related to hair texture or styles. I went in for a consultation two weeks before my actual appointment the stylist appeared knowledgeable but my results were less than desirable. I can say well after my appointment the dye job was perfect it has lasted longer than most applications. However, I showed a photo of the style I desired and I understand upfront my hair texture may not be the same as the person in the photo. But when you're chopping off your hair the cut should be close to the photo. It was a 'good' cut but, the thinning area on my sides were not considered when 'fading'. During my initial consultation the stylist said washing my hair will help to see the curl pattern it will help determine if I need twist or product for the desired look. None of that happened! My experience is really hard to explain I didn't get what I asked for but I was able to come home and work it out for myself. In the end I got a decent haircut and a good dye job so it wasn't a total bust. Would I go back or suggest this salon of 'natural hair care'? NOPE!

It's been about 10 days since I took my weave out and I'm just getting my feelings together enough…read moreto write all this up. So, I'll start out by saying this: I didn't have a bad salon experience. Nikki was personable during my consultation and my salon visit, and everyone there was pretty nice. My issues are with the quality of the hair and the install itself. I got my hair styled the day before a wedding I was in, and my appointment was booked a month or so in advance. I booked a consultation first to talk about my options and we decided on a closure sew in, pin curled so that I could have to worry about the curls falling before the event. She dissuaded me from getting the frontal as it would require more maintenance, and recommended that I buy the hair from her so that she would already have it on hand and would be able to prep the hair ahead of time. I followed her recommendation and she even walked me through the purchasing process when the closure she recommended was not active on her webpage. So, fast forward to my appointment, she does my hair the way we agreed upon and sewed an elastic band onto the closure to lay it flat. I've never had this done before but I trust her as she has been professional up to this point and she has great reviews on StyleSeat. She pins my hair, I leave and tie my hair up as soon as I get home. I unwrap my hair the following day and my hair is gorgeous. But I notice a few things. 1. The hair I purchased from her has a very noticeable corn chip smell. The like that you'll recognize if you've purchased cheap hair from foreign vendors before. It was almost a foregone conclusion of getting weaves 10 years ago when I first started buying hair from independent vendors but it's been a long time since I've had hair that smelled low quality. 2. The bleach she used to bleach the knots on my closure got on the roots of the hair. This is a common mistake when bleaching closures and frontals, but I would think that since she had the hair for so long before my appointment, she would have used a rinse or dye to fix that. 3. This is the reason I chose to write a review instead of just chalking the situation and not going back. If this helps anyone in their decision making, I'll be grateful: that elastic band was resting on my hairline. I thought it was sitting over the wig cap but she had cut the wig cap so that it was only under the closure. I had a deep side part so the closure was placed on the side of my head and the elastic band RUBBED MY EDGES OFF. I've never had any issues maintaining my edges. And I didn't get the full scope of how the band was installed until I was removing the weave. I have about 2 inches of my hairline across the front that have rubbed off and even a few ingrown hairs that popped out while examining the area afterwards. My hair under the closure is fine so it's not the glue that did it. It's the friction from having that band stuck to my head for the 3 weeks that I had it in. I'm devastated. Book with caution.

The staff is very friendly, atmosphere nice, and just overall good experience.
