We came to her with a fantasy of finding an off-market, un-renovated single-family fixer (but a fixer that was livable with only minor work!) on Potrero Hill for a reasonable (for San Francisco) price. I've bought and sold several houses with many different realtors. Stephanie is by far, the best one I have worked with - helping me find a house in SF in this crazy real estate market. Realtors don't have the best reputation as a profession -- the stereotypical realtor is pushy, just looking for the next sale, short term oriented, doing the minimum necessary to get the deal, pushing you to try and buy the most expensive property available blah blah blah. Stephanie is nothing like this. From the first time I met with her, she took pains to understand exactly what I was looking for and why. I have a very busy schedule and Stephanie always adjusted her schedule to accomodate mine. Her customer service skills are exceptional. She does her homework and actually provides insight, rather than just regurgitate things that are in the MLS or Zillow/Trulia/Realtor listing. Since she has worked in the city for several years she has seen properties come and go on the market and has an exceptional memory for other houses. While comps only tell part of the story, Stephanie can provide more background on the house such as"oh that had a really funky layout, so that price reflected it. It's not a good comp" etc. That helped me prepare much better offers. Unlike many agents, she also has a good eye for renovations/design which helps you to see the possibilities of homes that on the face of it look less than ideal. Further, she has a good reputation and strong relationships with other agents. This helps a great deal in negotiation, particularly in competitive bidding situations. As other reviewers have noted, she has a full rolodex of service providers and can find people home inspectors, contractors, structural engineers and more at a moments notice.
