Especially as a person of color and new resident of Providence, I worried my needs wouldn't be taken into consideration, but I felt comfortable under his care and would recommend him to anyone in Providence or any student at Brown.

The office did forget to check me in during my last appointment, so despite my being on time I was brought in 15 minutes late. Other than this annoyance it's been a great experience thus far.

He used to be one of those people who avoided seeing the dentist unless there's pain. He thinks they're all the same, but they're not! My previous dentist would point out certain problems, like a chipped tooth and receding gum lines but never bothered to suggest any treatments other than an expensive mouth guard to keep me from grinding my teeth at night. It really annoyed me that he made a joke about my chipped tooth. One of my fillings started to wear down and became sharp like a dull saw. Luckily my previous dental office had a long wait for openings and I managed to book an appointment with Dr. Yousef for an earlier appointment! After a cleaning and assessment, he noticed my chipped tooth, receding gum line and immediately had treatment plans in mind. Dr. Yousef fixed my chipped tooth, smoothed down my chain saw molar, and filled in the deep recesses of my receding gum lines, which would avoid Gum Graft Surgery in the future. He did all of this in less than one hour!!! I was amazed!!! Also, I love that he's polite and respectful and doesn't make stupid jokes like my previous dentist, even though he's not a very talkative man. Btw...I opted for no local anesthesia because I hate having a numb mouth for hours. I really appreciated how gentle, quick, and efficient he was. The practice was sold recently to someone called Katherine Burton, who I've never seen. I have seen one of the other Dentists there, who is young and eager and seems knowledgeable. I do find the bedside manner not quite filling Dr. Barr's shoes, although I suppose that's something that comes with time. Other things have changed, too: the front desk staff, who I always liked, and I've had to trundle out to the other office in North Prov a few times because they couldn't reschedule me on South Main. None of which is a deal-killer, and I guess if I walked in the door today I wouldn't think much of it, but, I don't know, it's just the way my trust in the practice has been lowered just a bit that feels uncomfortable, somehow.

He drilled out the filling and put a new one in. My face was numb for over a week. I called and he said this was normal. I've had fillings before and I've never been numb for more than 8 hrs or so. He scheduled me to return to have the remaining 2 cavities filled. After my terrible experience I went to Dr. Darby in East Providence who was awesome. They did a complete x-ray and determined that I did not have any cavities! Caress was going to drill and fill 2 teeth that didn't even have cavities! I've been going to Dr. Darby ever since and those 2 teeth are still fine. To add to my bad experience, Caress Dental said I never paid them $50 and put me into collections in 2007. Two years after I had my filling. I was never made aware of this since I had moved. I just discovered this after applying for a loan. Stay away from this place!

I emailed to make sure my accounts were synced, but then received a call the following day telling me my appointment had been cancelled because they won't have a hygienist. I do wonder if they would have told me without me asking-- my guess is no considering my partner had an appointment the same day and didn't know his was cancelled until I told him mine was. I then asked if I could come in the day before or the week after, and was told they're scheduling into April. Even though THEY cancelled my appointment. Needless to say I will be going elsewhere.
