The caretaker is a lovely man who is always there to open the door for you. They run a nursery group every day and a mum and toddler group on a Friday. I primarily browsed the DVD section here, and was not disappointed. Charity shops are the ideal place for a great bargain. For example, whilst perusing the DVD shelves, I found 'Wanted' for the bargain price of £2.99. All of the stock on offer seemed of a good quality, and I was impressed with the selection of things on all fronts. As with all charity shops, you have to hunt around a bit, as they are not as meticulously organised as typical high street retailers. I may have to come back and do a more thorough check of their selection. Of course, the stock will change all the time, as is the case with charity shops. An unbelievable bargain is almost guaranteed.

Inside it is quite roomy and what I like most is the book selection on the right side of the wall. It is massive. They are stocked in order and you can easily look by authors names. You can get old and new titled books, as well as DVDs and CDs. They also have a vast clothes collection and some children toys and games at the back. You can even find changing rooms and try on the garments in private. The staff is really friendly and the place is clean. Prices are fab and don't forget you support a Charity :-)

The Castle Creche is a small building situated outside the Gyle Shopping Centre. It is an ideal…read moreplace to leave your child to play while you do the shopping. It's for children over 2 year old and on your first visit you will have to register, bringing the childs birth certificate to prove that they are of the relevant age. It is a drop in chreche between Mondays and Saturdays from 9.30 until 5.45 pm and on a Sunday it is open between 11 and 5 and it is a case of checking whether they have spaces or not. Children take their shoes off when they enter and the automatic door can only be opened from the inside where it is high up outwith a childs reach. Only parents or staff may enter. Whoever drops the child off must collect them to ensure that they are not being taken off by the wrong person. All the staff are well trained and the equipment for the children are full of variety. There is a large built in climbing centre with a ball pit at the bottom and a slide for getting out. Most children play in there though it can get a bit rough for the smaller children. There are also several nursery toys, from role playing, to ride ons, with gluing tables and also a video corner, though I do find, when I put my son in the creche he ends up in the video corner. The prices are fantastic and you are initially charged for 30 mins and then it will increase for every 15 minutes, a parent is not allowed to leave the Gyle Shopping centre when their child is in the creche incase something happens. The Creche can also be hired out for birthday parties. I believe it is around £50 for 90 minutes. The cost includes, use of play equipment, one member of staff to assist and plates and cups. You provide the food, or order food from one of the establishments in the food court. You can also use their kitchen to prepare your food. All in All, if you want some time shopping, kid free, drop them into the creche and have the peace you so rightfully deserve!

The telford college is a new building and has a great studio space for courses such as millinery. This course takes you through the making of a felt hat, straw hat and fabric hat....(I've just completed my felt hat!). If you are not looking to dedicate so much time to the art of millinery keep your eyes and ears peeled for courses run by a charity called Hat Walk. These two day courses are run through the telford college and leaves you with a fabulously fun hat or two!

A great venue for talks and lectures…read more There's one fantastic lecture theatre which is kitted out with all you need including a massive projector screen and microphones scattered through the audience. These make chairing a session a million times easier as you don't have to wear yourself out legging it up and down the stairs with a mic. Other rooms can be used as lecture halls and I must say that I felt well fancy giving a talk surrounded by fancy art and statues in a room with amazing awnings, blood red carpet and fancy gold fixtures. The catering they provide is also great. I've been here several times and it's usually a selection of sandwiches that's vast enough to suit everyone, some fresh fruit and various biscuits. The coffee is good, which is generally not expected when they're catering for 150 odd people! The foyer behind the lecture theatre is big, not decorated all the best but it's big and comfortable. There's a big cloakroom just off it, which is convenient but I imagine not very secure. When there's a lot of people wandering in and out of the building it would be super easy to slip in there unnoticed. Finally, the bathrooms are awesome...they're super fancy!

The school also functions as a community centre, offering evening classes and sports team. There is a decent sized swimming pool which provides swimming lessons on weekends and during the school holidays. The school has good sports facilities, with large rugby and football grass pitches, outdoor tennis course, 3 indoor games halls and a gravel pitch mostly used for hockey. In terms of education, the quality is probably around average for a state school with some excellent teachers and some not so good.

They are based Dunfermline and Kirkcaldy but cover number of East Central Scotland areas including Edinburgh and Dundee as well as Fife.
