Instead, Jim and his team allowed exposure of the fascia to debris and elements causing fascia board to warp - less than one year after install! He came and replaced fascia once - without making any change to his original method - of course, fascia warped again less than one year later! Sloppy workmanship! Not once but twice!! He walked away from the install problem and placed the blame on everyone else...all this after paying over $12K .

He laid out really beautiful plans that were representative of how the finished product looked but honestly, the finished product is even more amazing than we had realized it would be. Jim is experienced and knowledgeable. Jim's team is excellent and very hard working and he and his team are responsive to concerns. As with any project, unexpected things arose, and they all got dealt with. The finished costs were within ten percent of the estimate, which having had several other large projects done on our house, is within what I expect as reasonable, especially in context of providing estimates during times of rising building costs and supply chain delays. He was accurate in timeline of how long project would take and was honest. In terms of the quality of the work... Months later we are still AMAZED at how well it came out. We, at Jim's suggestion to consider, elected EZE breeze windows to make it a 3 season Carolina room that will be usable during pollen season. We spend time out there everyday and eat a lot of meals out there and will for decades to come. Years ago, we got good advice from a contractor who is going to remodel our bathroom. He told us there would be times during the project where we would all be angry with each other, which is normal when you are spending a lot of money to do something to your most important financial investment, which is also where you live. That advice helped us through bathroom renovations. It also helped at the couple of times when I was upset with Jim about things that are pretty typical during a project. We communicated with Jim rather than let things fester and things got handled very smoothly. I would advise anybody was asking to strongly consider using Structurally Speaking to do a deck or porch project and, whether you hire them or someone else, communicate clearly when you have concerns. If you hire Structurally Speaking, Jim will make sure to address your concerns and you will be thrilled with how your project comes out.

I didn't want to have a verbal conflict , nor stop the job before it was complete, so I was at a loss what to do and gave him my check for $3,024 and he left. I soon realized that I was definitely overcharged and called him on Friday, Sept 5 at 4:21 to address my concern. I left a message. Ron never called me back. I waited over the weekend to allow him time to make this situation right. He didn't so on Tuesday Sept 9 at 2:24 I called him again, he didn't answer again so I left him another message expressing my concern. I have never heard back from him. He has never sent me an invoice. He never measured my areas and he has never contacted Angi's list (who I hired him through).

Things to note: - The communication, payments and scheduling were disjointed and I do agree with Crystal W., the previous poster, on this point. Based on my experience, I would recommend that this company hire an office manager or some type of scheduling/accounting assistant to manage scheduling and billing. Paul appears to manage it all himself and communicates mostly through texts after 9pm, though it is possible to get him on the phone during the day. - Have Paul come out and do the consultation and have everything ready and prepared for your estimate 3 months in advance when you want to get on the schedule-the business is busy and you'll likely need some lead time before getting on the schedule. - For our experience, we paid 50% for the flooring and then the remaining 50% a couple of days before installation. This was done directly with the flooring vendor (not Sedaris); the Sedaris crew will pick up the flooring directly from the vendor prior to installation - Sedaris installation crew were phenomenal-I give them 5 stars. They worked hard, were polite, and made sure everything was clean when they left. - We had one hiccup where the measurements that Sedaris did at our original consultation for our pricing fell short and didn't account for enough flooring-1 or 2 additional boxes of flooring were needed in the laundry area. In the end, Sedaris agreed to pay for the additional flooring and we paid for the additional labor. We felt that this was a fair arrangement and were happy with how that issue was resolved. - After the installation and final payments, we had a question about cleaning some paint stains in the floor (done by separate vendor) and Paul was prompt in giving some helpful tips-I appreciated his helpfulness even after our official business was over. Despite some of the communication challenges with scheduling and billing, if we were to get our floors done again, we'd hire Sedaris. We love our floors.
