Arrowe Park is a fantastic hospital, I was born here, and have been here on several occasions since for treatment with various ailments. I've never had a bad experience, the hospital is always clean, the staff have always been professional and dedicated and I haven't died yet! A friend of mine was here not long ago suffering from a bad case of Pneumonia, and things didn't look good. However, with care and top medical attention, the staff at Arrowe Park soon had him back on his feet and in ship shape! As well as being a centre for medical excellence, the hospital has a cafe, a restaurant, a book and flower shop and a gift shop. It's basically got everything you'll need on tap if you have to stay here!

My nan has been admitted…read moreinnumerable times with various illnesses of varying degrees, she has always been impressed by the standard of care and lavishes respect and thanks upon all of the staff. However, as I have grown older and am more aware of behaviours, language and the appropriate level of care required, I have to disagree with her. I believe my nan is thankful for any help and any painkillers and medication when she is ill, but in my opinion this is not enough. When a patient is admitted, especially for a long time I thin kthey deserve attention from and time with the relevant people, be it doctors, nurses or surgeons, and I don't feel she has got it. She was recently discharge from hospital and is still extremely sick, I think it was too soion for her to leave the hospital. When in Arrowe Park, which was just under a month, she was moved from ward to ward and nurse to nurse, none of which I was very comfortable with caring for her; they were brusque and blase and often rude. Doctors who looked younger than myself were diagnosing her but not listening to anything she had to say- which was highly relevant to her current condition, such as medication she was on or even the fact she had certain operations or conditions before! The diagnosis changed day to day and was never really fully explained to patient or family. The behaviour of one nurse in particular was disgusting- even nan could not forgive it. She was rude to visitors, horrid to patients- including a very old woman in the next bed who could not speak English, force feeding her roughly and admonishing her when her weak hands dropped something on the floor. Worst of all this nurse did not give my nan her tea until several hours after the rest of her bay which affected my nan' diabetes as she could not take her insulin. The nurse later confessed she did not know nan was diabetic (despite this being a diabetic ward!) she then proceeded on two occasions to give incorrect levels of insulin which caused serious sickness and blackouts. As far as local hospitals go, this is wonderful. On arrival…read moreyou are immediately confronted with an information desk, staffed by very knowledgeable people - volunteers, it would seem. Within any of the departments there are different receptionists who look after all of the patients and check that they know what is going on, then ensure that the patients get to their appointments on time. All the medical staff that I have come into contact with, and that's a lot now, have been very supportive and have explained everything in great detail. I'm sure this is very reassuring to most patients but, as part of my second degree included the use of cNMR, CTI and similar imaging techniques, it wasn't really necessary in my case. The small shopping area/canteen near the main entrance is also well staffed and has a good supply of basic items. A small glitch occurred when I was prescribed some medication, went to the pharmacy for it and found that they can only accept payment in cash. I only carry cash when I Know I will need it, and then just the bare minimum. I ended up sending a cheque through the post as my next appointment isn't soon enough to clear their weekly accounting. Another small complaint has to be the car-parking. Although a hundred times better organised than Warrington, the available space is far too small! This was built on open spaces originally, surely the planners could have predicted it would need more than 40-odd spaces? After all, Halton Lea (formerly The Shopping City) was built at the same time as a futuristc shopping mall, with all sorts of transport facilities. If you need to be there in the morning time, go a little early or, better still, have someone drop you off. Update - January, 2009 Have just found another moan. They don't actually have a proper crash team here. If you have any sort of heart complaint while in the care of Halton, they send you to Warrington Hospital's A&E. Great in my case, as I live there, but could be a problem for others, especially if they've left their car on the carpark! I still think it is a very good hospital, notwithstanding the gripes.

i find halton hospital one of the better ones in the five boroughs however more and more are being…read moresent to other hospitals particulary warrington,however there is a hospital bus direct from halton to warrigton hospital,ask for a timetable,i did not know this and without transport at the time i found it difficult to get to my appointment ontime,i had a operation here and was well cared for however i did get concerned regarding the more elderly patients who seemed to be left, nurses too busy,to give the extra attention they needed,also i found for some reason they kept losing my records other than this i prefer here to some of the other hospitals.

the staff here are not the most compassionate of people i find most of the doctors very rude and…read moreunhelpfull they are jsut in a hurry to fob you off and get rid of you.. you have to phone up on the morning of the day you want an apointment only to get given a time the doctor will phone you back to deside weather or not you are ill enough to come in then they will hope there is an apointment left if not you have to repeat the same process again the next day =( ..you can book ina dvance for certian thigns but it normally takes about 3 weeks

The Health Visiting team are wonderful and I rate them very highly. The actual practice is always kept clean and there are plenty of seats in the waiting room. They have toilet and baby changing facilities. There is also a beep system to call people in for appointments, which I think is useful.

In the start of 2025 I was taken to WHISTON HOSPITAL by ambulance to A &E there is spent 8 hours in…read morethe back of an ambulance then 3 days in the corridor before and allocation of bed on a specific ward was available as I need a separate room due to personal illness and being a C Diff carrier so it's a precaution. But I had to go back on the 14th Dec to A & E once I'd had my bloods done and assessed I A and E it was only a matter of 3 hours then I was allocated a bed on observation ward then treatment began. 24hrs later I was moved to the correct ward in an a room allocated bed. This was a vast improvement which not only assist ing my physical but mental well being in itself. I have being a long term patient in and out on a regular basis been given the best care available by the doctors and nurses at Whiston and can only commend and praise the work and the treatment I have been given. Whilst I was in A&E I must admit I did see a lot of footfall come and go wanting treatment which could've been acquired and was more suitable for the walk in centre locally at the Millenium or seen a doctor if they had rang the surgery to make and emergency appt. The life and capacity is being square out of A&E due to these factors. I would like to give a huge thankyou to the drs and nurses at Whiston Hospital. Whom along with treatment have not only shown me their care but with compassion and empathy also. Hats off to you Whiston Hospital you can only work with what you've got but within 6 months I myself have experienced a vast and impressive improvement. Thanking you Donna McLean

Poor care, my mother says she would rather die than go to Whiston!!…read more The place is new and soulless, clean and tidy, but no care, staff talk between themselves, while you stand waiting to ask for help. They managed to lose my mothers belongings, broke her hearing aid, they could not understand how important a hearing aid is, thinking shouting at a deaf person is the only answer. When you ask for info the Drs answer was I have not seen her, the nurse pulled out a scrap of paper from her pocket!! what happened to records? To telephone you need a password, but you have to go in to get the password, the system is just not right. Car parking a joke, no info on the web site, even parking attendants telling you to park on the grass, taxi ranks full of cars parked in the wrong place. Not enough disabled bays, so cars just dumped all over the area. WH Smiths is so expensive just to buy water or sweets, at least Costa Coffee was ok. All in all It was very disappointing, when the care is so bad for patients they say they will not press the care alarm again, it must be bad. Some nurses were lovely, but it was never the same staff each time you went so confusing and upsetting for elderly people. Come on Whiston, do some fine tuning, make the patients feel cared for, and improve the food, terrible compared to Newton. Its not only medicine that gets people better.

Alder Hey is a Children's Hospital, serving the North West. As a child lets just say i was a little…read moreaccident prone, so I had something of a season ticket to Alder Hey. Apart from the injuries themselves I have fond memories of the place. The staff were always very friendly, kind, caring and helpful. It was as if they couldn't do enough to help and make me better. Now as an adult I have returned to Alder Hey and the lovely atmosphere is still there. The staff are all lovely and seem to totally love their jobs. I have friends whose children have been inpatients or just visited clinics here, and they really cant praise the place enough. The main corridor is 1/4 mile long, but it is lined with murals and paintings on each of the 3 floors which makes it interesting, attractive and less scary for the visitors. This is a great hospital and I cant praise it enough.

Well despite all the organ storage trouble which has tarnished the name of Alder Hey over the last…read more10 years, this place has helped me live as normal a life as possible as a Haemophilia sufferer. In fact, it was a specialist Dr here that first diagnosed me as a sufferer after years of horrendous nose bleeds. I used to have to visit Alder Hey at least once a month for blood tests, and any time that I needed any dental work or operations, this was due to the fact that my blood couldn't clot properly and needed to be thickened before and during any treatment which I was at risk of bleeding throughout. I actually used to look forward to visiting here as the staff were always so friendly towards children, and the murals that decorate all the corridors used to fascinate me. This is a truly great children's hospital, unrivalled anywhere in the North of England!
