Want a great pianist who knows a variety of songs, is easy to work with, willing to travel, all with a competitive price? Pick Steve Carter. He's awesome. Did I say awesome?
Seriously, I was looking for a pianist to play our wedding ceremony and cocktail hour. I talked to five who charged me at the higher end of the spectrum. Then I came across Steve. The deal-breaker (or deal-maker, depending on how you look at it), was that Steve was the only one willing to learn a couple of songs not on his repertoire (which, amazingly, is pretty extensive) for our ceremony. He learned to play Shai: Together Forever for our wedding party introductions, and Coldplay's Yellow for our exit march. He even adjusted my wife's wedding march with a substitute of Pachelbel's Canon in D. All super amazing in sound.
Our venue at The Sainte Claire in San Jose had a grand piano, but Steve also has a portable one he can lug around. For the cocktail hour, Steve entertained the crowd with a mix of Jazz, R&B, and Pop songs to lighten the mood and get people bobbing their heads and hips. Again, a request we had which he happily accommodated.
Steve lives in Oakland, but is also willing to drive north, south, east, or west. In our case, to San Jose. Another plus for us.
I would recommend his piano services in a heartbeat. Again, did I say awesome? read more
