The instant I heard that, I knew I wanted to do things a little differently. I wanted a really badass wedding planner so that my guests would be guests, (not servants for a day), and I would leave the tricky stuff to the professionals. I met with 3 or 4 other planners who were a bad fit for one reason or another, before I stumbled on Soiree by Simone. Simone instantly felt like the right planner for me. She is endlessly enthusiastic about all the details of your wedding, which comes in handy when you're like me and you tire easily from all the ins and outs of meticulous wedding planning. Whenever I had decision fatigue, she revived me. She's warm but somehow manages to be incredibly professional. She really listens to you and helps your wedding dreams become a reality. She also helped me stay focused because sometimes everything looks so great and you want it all, but you just have to adhere to one path and be decisive. She and my florist (Yasmin at Floral Theory) even went so far as to create two table set-ups with different tables, linens, glasses, floral arrangements, the works, so that I could make a decision on which direction to go for our decor. How sweet is that? One small recommendation: hire her for the full length of time that you can leading up to your wedding. Let her be involved from the get-go because it will save you so much time and stress. Since she knew what we liked and didn't like, she was able to connect us with vendors who were a perfect match for us. In many cases we hired the very first vendor we interviewed. We also booked our wedding site the very day we went went looking at spots. The whole processes was expedited because of her recommendations and knowledge. (And to boot, her prices for the bigger packages are a thousand times more reasonable than those of some other planners I researched. She charges about 1/2 the cost of others in the bay area, just to give you an idea.) We hired her about a year and a half before our wedding, and she responded to me like I was her only client (I assure you, I wasn't). She even got back to me within 24 hours while she was on vacation in HAWAII! If that isn't a testament to her dedication, I don't know what is. Every wedding she plans, and every couple she works with, is given just as much attention and care as the last. Every wedding is her favorite wedding. The woman is the energizer bunny. By the end of our planning stages, I had so much faith in her that I let her create our menus and programs and last minute table decor without even consulting me. The execution of flowers and decor on the site were so beautiful I burst into tears the minute the chapel doors opened and I walked down the isle. I've described it to people as the best moment of my entire life. It was nothing short of heaven. There was one slip up with our youngish DJ who played a song on my "do not play" list and Simone made a B-line for his table before I could even get there. She cracked the whip so I didn't have to! How wonderful. She also handed me a plate of all three flavors of cake while a conga line emerged (started by my mother. Thanks for that, Mom.) because she knew tasting the cake was really important to me. And finally, by the end of the night, I asked one of the girls to put as many of the flowers in our hotel room as possible so they wouldn't be thrown away. What they did was incredible. A heart shaped wreath of orchids on our bed, glasses everywhere of single flower bouquets, and candles lighting the way to the top of our cake. Wow! As a preface: Our wedding was 6/3/2012 in Carmel Valley and we began working with Soiree by Simone in 8/2011. Simone and her team are extremely organized and efficient. For every bit that they are efficient, they are equally creative and supportive! For several years I've known I wanted to use the expertise of a wedding planner/event planner to help plan my wedding day. Through a couple serendipitous events we learned about Simone. I knew she was probably going to be the one we went with -- just from the raving reviews we heard from Carmel locals -- when we met we with her a few weeks later, we were sold. Why? Because she is flexible, enthusiastic, inventive, strict-to-budget, down-to-earth, steady and cool-headed = everything I had hoped for in someone I am trusting my wedding day with. The BEST team ever. Working with Simone for our destination wedding in Yountville was the best decision we made. We hired her for the full wedding planning option and could not have been happier with the entire experience. Simone was awesome! She stepped in with less than 4 weeks before our wedding because of another planner letting us down. ( Too bad I didn't start with her.). More specifically, Yountville, at the beautiful Vintage Inn. We live in Chicago and were trying to create our perfect wedding from afar. Simone Lennon planned my son and daughter-in-law's rehearsal dinner and wedding in Carmel Valley a week and a half ago. The amount of co-ordination, negotiation, communication, and stamina it requires to produce events as beautiful, personal, and perfectly executed as the rehearsal dinner and wedding were is beyond my comprehension, but Simone did it. I and my family hosted the Big Sky Country-inspired rehearsal dinner and we are so happy with how the evening turned out. I didn't believe in wedding planners before Simone. Correction: I don't believe in any old wedding planner, I BELIEVE IN SIMONE. There aren't enough words to describe how amazing, what a lifesaver, how instrumental, Simone is - she's just that good. Unlike other planners I interviewed (one of whom told me having our friend officiate the ceremony would drive up her costs since we had "no idea what you're doing"), Simone listened to me, got a quick read on both my and my husband's personalities, and adapted to us. Which is saying something, because I'm bossy. Every suggestion Simone made was money. Even those that cost money. She was right about everything, and she does not suggest you spend money lightly. The patio furniture I didn't believe we needed? It enhanced the intimate feel we were going for and completely changed the way our guests interacted during the reception. She went to bat for a floral designer, and helped us find someone who would work with our budget - and now I can't believe we ever even considered doing flowers on our own. On the flip side, she minced no words when it came to telling us a dessert table was a waste of money. And even though she was technically only our "month-of" coordinator, she answered any questions we had along the way - from invitation etiquette to helping me overcome a wedding dress debacle. My favorite thing about Simone is that she's not just your logistics savior, she's your emotional shield. Don't get me wrong - her down-to-five-minutes day-of timeline almost gave me an orgasm in and of itself - but it's the way she structures the day to calm your nerves and give you what you need that makes the biggest difference. If there is a sticky family situation, and you need to avoid seeing someone before the ceremony, Simone will come up with a plan that both makes you comfortable and makes that someone else still feel special or involved. Your wish is her command: I told her I wanted to make sure my stepmom, who's sober, had sparkling cider coming her way all night, and voila - she did. When I got last-second nerves about one of our vendors, Simone handled it, in a warm, polite fashion that totally saved the day. She has no problem when you drop a good eff-bomb, and she'll even forgive you when you accidentally involve her in a full-on brawl you have with your fiancé about what turns out to be nothing more than a giant misunderstanding. (Her team, for the record, is equally baller. Our friend did officiate our ceremony, and Simone & Co worked with him in a supportive, and in-no-way condescending, fashion. He got everything he needed, no more, no less.) I can't quite put my finger on it, but there was a moment, right before I started to walk down the aisle when Simone cued me and straightened out my train, that I can't imagine having happened, or been right, without her standing there. I am proud to say I fell into the minority of guys getting married. However, that did not mean I knew what I was doing. Frankly, I was terrified. I don't even know where to begin with my love and praise for Simone. She came highly recommended from our venue in Yountville, CA and just a brief overview of her work convinced me she was who I wanted even before we spoke. Talking to her cemented the fact that she was perfect for our wedding. I was initially on the other side of the country and my fiancé was here, but there was not a second of difficulty the entire time. She had such a full understanding of our vision, I was convinced she was inside my brain the entire time. I just got married on March 23rd in Yountville, CA. However, not only was I planning it from a distance because I live in NYC, but I had less than 3 months to do it. I contacted a few planners and of the even fewer who actually got back to me I liked Simone the BEST by far. Her enthusiasm and knowledge from the moment we first spoke was contagious and calming since I had NO idea what I was doing. My wedding day prep was simply filled with spending time with my friends and my mom getting ready and drinking champagne and I can honestly say the biggest "stress" of the day was that my sister-in-law ran barely FIVE mins late!! Her recommendations and referrals for vendors were invaluable. There were at least two vendors that I never would have found if it weren't for her referrals, and they fit my wedding vision perfectly. There were so many instances where I just needed some reassurance or advice, and she was always the calm voice of reason. I was the most relaxed bride because of her and her team. She was especially crucial in the weeks leading up to the wedding.
