I was in this store earlier today and received terrible customer service. I was in the store for at least 5 minutes and was never greeted. I had to approach one of the two employees behind the counter to ask to see a pair of shoes in my size. When she returned she told me that my size was not available but she brought me the next size up. I appreciated that she tried to offer something however when I asked to see them she held the box out without even bothering to open the lid or assist me in any way. My hands were full so I had to put my items down in order to open the box to view the shoes. At this point I had already decided I was not going to by any shoes from them. There were three other patrons in the store and neither of the two employees offered to assist anyone unless someone asked. They were too busy talking about their personal lives to pay attention to their customers. BAD CUSTOMER SERVICE. WON'T RETURN TO THIS STORE. read more

I like shopping at Steve Madden Shoes on King Street in Charleston as they have a wide selection of quality shoes at really good prices. They have good shoes for pretty much every situation from business to casual and every occasion in between. They seem to always be getting new designs and styles in the store so it is worth coming in every so often to check out what is new. The staff here is helpful enough to make you have a good shopping experience, but not too helpful to get in your way. I have had a good time coming in here throughout the years and seem to come away with a good pair or shoes every time I come here and I am always satisfied with my purchases and like wearing the shoes out there. read more

Horrible customer service! I wanted to return or make an exchange for shoes that I never wore after two weeks of ordering them and the employees didn't bother trying to help me. They just said they can't accept returns without a box then went to the back completely ignoring me for 15 minutes. They gave me no other options or help in regards to this purchase. I usually don't review chain stores; because well, we all know what to expect. But, I had such a great experience I just had to share. I ran in to buy a new pair of shoes for a wedding (an hour before we had to leave.) As soon as I walked in I got a scratch-off coupon and a friendly greeting. I immediately asked to try on about four styles in my (ridiculously small) size. The sales associate was so friendly. She brought out whatever she had in my size and some similar alternatives. She was very helpful. I decided on a pair I really loved while she was in the back trying to help me out with even more options. (I told her about my situation.) When she came I apologized and told her I decided. She was SO friendly and so polite. That is really rare these days. I was so happy and the shoes looked great at the wedding. I've been to this location on multiple occasions and I've always been greeted with a smile (unlike many other stores on King). The sales people are so helpful and seem happy to help get additional sizes and styles until you find something you like. The last time I was there, I tried on 4 different styles I selected but they didn't have any available in my size. So the associate got the size below and above in each style. None of them fit, so she came back out with a completely different style that I ended up really loving and bought. I never would have picked them out for myself since they didn't have much appeal on the shelf but on my feet they were so cute. Bonus- they're comfortable. I'll be back here again to shop! read more

what happend to this store? when I shopped here 5 months ago, the atmosphere was fun and friendly...customer service was above and beyond fantastic! I even met the manager and he was AWESOME!! I looked forward going in on fridays after payday..now not so much. Please do whatever you were doing before, so I and friends can continue meeting here on weekends. Just words of advice, thats all. I am here on vacay and the chain on my SM purse strap broke. And I didn't bring another purse, BUMMER! I walked in the store and Carly, the manager, could not have been nicer!!
