I was looking for a tax accountant for our personal taxes and several businesses of mine. After receiving the quotes, I merely remarked that it's a lot of money and I need some more time to consider the options. His brittle and tone-death reply that I "seem to emphasize fees over quality of service" and that I had "best to retain another tax preparer" was a total turn off to being a potential client. Who doesn't look at costs, especially if you are a small business owner? And quality of service is only determined after I have paid for this service, so how can I judge your work when I'm merely at the door inquiring of your fees? So the only point of reference to service quality up to this point is his insensitive and dismissive remarks that Steve has provided me- just from asking for more time to consider! I would provide a warning to existing and potential clients that this firm may no longer seek to do the best work it can for you. Perhaps he is at the point of his business that costs are no longer an issue to ever consider, unlike the humble current state that I am in. read more
