Hubs had located one of the many, many, many trails within the the area In Lenox and noticed the Yokun trail. Be warned though and drive slow to get here- as some roads in the area are insanely narrow right next to dropping woody hillsides. Breathe. From the little bit we experienced, trails around the area offer walking and hiking options to suit all levels. Even though we were suited up for the trek, it was still freezing and difficult to walk on the cracked ice so we cut our walk short. Real short. We ventured a bit more and drove to the main office where Rosie(y?) helped and answered all our questions. We liked it here- but I'm sure it's magnificent in the Spring and Summer mostly where you can see all the lushness and some wildlife. What I also liked about Yokun Trail is that it's well-formed and signposted. You could try to tackle and get to the tallest peaks in the area to see the beautiful landscape- but for that, hubs and I will wait for better temperature to explore more of the wilderness.

What a great place!…read more We stopped off in the afternoon on a Wednesday during a short trip to the Berkshires. First off, LOVE that you can bring the dogs. Is this normal for an orchard? I'm not familiar. They have the cutest little store with apple cider donuts, fudge, little store items including an apple liqueur of some kind that I was lucky enough to try and that shit is DANGEROUS. They also have a wine tasting area and cider/beer tasting area. We got 2 apple cider donuts (obviously) which were incredible. We also tried a cider flight. I asked for "the fruitest shit you have" and we got a nice spread of different and interesting things including a lavender cider. All of the staff were super nice and friendly. The place is also massive if you are into a lot of walking and things.

One of the owners, Sarah, did a wine tasting for me and was extremely friendly and provided some great background on the various wines. The wines were really good and they had a good variety of sweet and dry options. There's a nice cozy wood burning fireplace with couches to sit and enjoy a glass of wine in the winter months. For those who want to be more active, there is snowshoeing available with snowshoes for rent while you're there. Didn't try that but maybe next year :)

Unfortunately, the peak was cloud covered with breaking sun during our visit. The drive up was scenic, with winding roads offering glimpses of the charming woodland scenes. Once at the top, the Veterans War Memorial Tower added a historical touch to the beauty of the surroundings. The short hike around the summit was peaceful. If you're feeling adventurous, there are longer trails that seemed perfect for a day hike. We didn't have time to tackle them all but definitely plan to return. We hid a coin in a slate rock wall near the Appalachian Trail for our church brother to find should he reach this spot during his early 2025 attempt at traversing the trail. There's a small visitor center however it was closed during our visit. We were unable to grab a quick bite at Bascom Lodge. All in all, Mount Greylock is a must-see if you're in the Berkshires, offering the perfect blend of nature, history, and beauty. Just be sure to bring your camera--the views are unforgettable!

While these bikes are big and heavy they do cut these roads down to size pretty easily. Whether it's hitting jumps popping wheelies or skidding around dirt turns at high speed they perform very well. Decided to head to October mountain as the dirt roads there can be anything from easy to extremely challenging for the experienced rider. Additionally the views and scenery are generally outstanding. As always at the top of the mountain we got a great view of Mount Greylock across the way. After relaxing and maxing for a couple minutes we headed down to the Reservoir parking area and checked out the water. There was a few people fishing and relaxing with a picnic lunch when we were there. Did not stay very long and was back on the dirt roads looking for the more challenging areas and of course as always we found them. Huge potholes deep water and lots of rocks to crush with our cycles. After a few hours of fun filled mud covered Riding we decided we were going to go get some food then head home. What a beautiful day sunshine perfect temperatures and great scenery.
