An added benefit is that the place is a trailhead to the Charcoal Trail (so named as there used to be charcoal pits here) which is a moderate/hard loop trail which culminates in another set of vista points looking both in the same direction as the Olivia Overlook as well as the opposite direction. It's a quicker route to the vista points if you take the right-hand side of the loop but either way, you'll: 1) be in for an uphill slog; 2) have a great sense of accomplishment making the vista point; 3) will see some beautiful ravines, slopes, brooks, boulders, and trees. Although the well-marked Charcoal Trail loop is only about 1.6 miles long, it takes longer than you think due to the uphill sections. Take water - and a hiking stick will help too.

Snow is very soft and powdery. It seems people snowshoe here 3 miles, but not further. We snowshoe 6 miles, so was breaking trail a lot. It was scenic and nice.

Using grapes shipped from CA and mixing with apples crown on site, this small batch operation is a delightful stop. Specifically, I want to shout out our wine guide who took us through several of their wines. She made our experience there memorable with her amazing personality, charm, and humor. The space is small but offers a variety of options to hang out and enjoy their wines and ciders - inside by the fireplace, outside on the screen porch, or outdoors on the patio. Def worth going a little out of your way for. Couple of things: -No swimming signs are posted-I've head people still do it. -There is a port-o-let in the parking lot-didn't use and not sure if it's unlocked/clean but if your coming for more than 1/2 hour may be smart to bring some t.p. -There are a few picnic tables by the falls-but if it's crowded then your prob going to need a picnic blanket. -The road that gets you to the park is rutted in places so go slow and don't drive in the ruts. If you have a super low car because your one of those types then skip this as you will prob bottom out. -Bring a trash bag and take your stuff (and anything you find) out.

People heavy depending upon what time of day and year you visit. I visited on 4th of July weekend. It wasn't as people heavy as expected. The drive up from the main roadway is really nice. Beautiful area! I would visit this park for another opportunity if I'm ever in the area again.

About the beach itself, it resides on a sizeable property, and they have a few chairs for sitting and relaxing while watching the calm lake in front. The sand seems smooth, so during the summer time I'm sure it's a fun place to swim and sunbath. There is a building with canoes and other types of boats on the property, but when I visited it was closed. Def a place to check out if you're ever at Kripalu.
