Meg Reilley is truly Asheville's best of the best. Meg's…read morephotographs are unique, incredible works of art that you will treasure. She brings an attentiveness to craft, a documentarian's eye, and an unparalleled aesthetic to her work. Meg's skill as a photographer is matched by her warm personality and huge heart! For me this is priceless because I generally hate being photographed. Meg not only makes the experience a pleasure but she captures the very best of anyone she shoots. I can't recommend her highly enough.

I started making portraits of my many nieces and nephews that lived in town. In fact, one of my nieces initiated my first paying family portrait session! Thanks Dr.Kate! I knew making heirloom portraits of kids and families was my calling very early. I am so fortunate. Initially, I made heirloom portraits on a medium format, (4 x bigger film than 35mm) film camera. Back then, I printed my work in the darkroom (or dark womb as we called it!). It is a magical process. I moved on to shooting digitally ( about 10 years ago. I started shooting video last year and am just in love with making heirloom videos of kids and families as much as still portraits. It feels like such a natural progression of my creative process. I adore photographing weddings. My philosophy is to document the amazingness of the day and let the couple see what it's like to be there and all the juiciness that they missed. No ordinary human can take in everything that is happening. Having me be a part of your special day is like having your long lost southern cousin (or Auntie) who cares about you and wants you to reexperience your special day through the lens of an experienced artist and storyteller. I hope to infuse some laughs, ease and grace into the day. I  approach the "assignment" as a documentary one with little conceptual mixed in there. I love you, I love your story and I love your face!
