Several items on this menu that I have not seen before, so we asked some questions and ordered different dishes to share. * Medu vada: Since we were not ordering bread, this was the appetizer. They're donut-shaped, bread-tasting, onions inside. Authentic. * Chicken curry naadan: My choice, similar to Varatharacha curry I was told, but spicier. It wasn't killing my tongue, but a nice balance of flavors overall. I wish the menu warned me that the chicken comes sliced, not deboned. So make sure you are prepared for the bones! Food gets 5 stars, service was nice (they were balancing grocery and restaurant duties, so we didn't disturb them with questions but I'm sure they would help anytime needed), but otherwise This Is A Grocery Store. It's also adjacent to the library, a kids playground (why gets mobbed), and is a short walk from Beekman St. Parking can be a challenge if arriving late however there's typically enough unless it's a crazy weekend (ie: around Halloween). This place was very open, had an assortment of cheeses, breads, produce, grocery items, and more. I walked around the store, and I found a lot of specialty products that I've only found in some of the grocery stores around here. They have organic items and other items that aren't typically carried. When I checked out, I wanted to sign up for a frequent shopper card, but the cashier informed me that you need to spend $100 in order to sign up for a card, which I thought was strange. I might be back, but I am surprised they have a minimum you need to spend in order to get a store card.
