But because I had waisted 5 months waiting for a call that would would never come I couldn't wait any longer and paid at the private clinic. A reassessment for something that is cosmetic? Dr. Jordan Sugie and his dermatologist will scam the government by submitting something that was unnecessary given I had the prescription many times in the past. Every time I have an appointment with this clinic they are rude. Sugie rude and so is the dermatologist who are colluding together against the government and us the taxpayers ultimately. So what they are doing is charging the government of Canada extra unnecessary charges and scamming tax payers. Furthermore, I mentioned this in the clinic and left, and asked for my entire medical history I got a letter of Dismissal. I fired them the day before. Good riddance.

I explained to him that i am in a lot of pain and needed a referral for a specialist. He said the doctor will call you tomorrow. So I cleared my schedule and waited. 30 minutes pass from the time the doctor was suppose to call and nothing. I called the office and no one was picking up, or it would go straight to voicemail. After some back and forth, the doctor finally called and she told me that I can't give referral until I see you in person. That's understandable, but the guy I called initially didn't mention this at all. So I wasted my entire day because the idiot from the office doesn't respect my time or the condition I was in, either that or he isn't as informed as he should be... Had he told me from the beginning that you'll probably need to be seen for a referral and that won't happen until September-ish I would've been more understanding and went to an ER instead, but that didn't happen instead I was needlessly in pain for 2 extra days. Avoid this place. Go to Mount Saint Joseph ER, they were wonderful.

She has been my and spouse´s doctor for about 15 years and I have always felt fortunate to have her as my primary health care provider. We feel she is like a very respected member of our family. We both revere her as a doctor and person. She is predictably vivacious and it radiates. It's just cool being with her. Unfortunately Dr Murphy is only available part time. I understand; she deserves more time for her family and herself after many years of generously caring for her patients. I hope I don't come off as a deranged zealot. Dr. Polyakov was smug, dismissive and demonstrated an obvious lacking in compassion and caring. He prescribed 2 tablespoons of Metamucil and 2 litres of water per day! At one point I told him things weren't working out and it was becoming very painful. He said, "then drink 2 litres of water" (obviously his bladder was in better shape than mine). Over 6 months nothing he prescribed improved my condition; in fact, it made it worse. All my concerns fell on deaf ears. I eventually quite his program and am now waiting for surgery.

Moving here to Vancouver from the States 18 months ago, I had no idea how the Canadian, or the…read moreprovincial BC medical system worked, nor did I have a GP here for myself or my family. I was SO lucky to be referred to Dr. Brian Yau here (and lucky that he was taking new patients, too). In the past, when I lived in Seattle, it took me a while to find doctors and dentists that I "clicked" with. I always felt that it takes a team effort - me and my doctor, - to be most effective in my staying/being healthy. So it's critical that I'm comfortable with my doctor to talk openly with him or her. It's in my best interest to "click" with him/her. And it's critical that he/she be knowledgeable, receptive, accessible and helpful. Bonus if the office staff is friendly and works with me and my schedule. Dr. Yau and his office staff are all these things, and more. They've fit me in the Dr's schedule ASAP when I needed to be seen. Dr. Yau is working with my WA doctors to follow up on past conditions and provide continuity of care. He takes the time to patiently go over all the many ways the system here differs from that in the States, and helps me navigate my way here re: blood work, referrals to other medical specialists, etc. He's also been incredibly helpful for my daughter, too. Another bonus here: Dr. Yau is incredibly prompt. (I always get irked when kept waiting and waiting, appointment after appointment, at doctors' and dentists' offices. It's as if my time isn't respected at all. Sure, once in a while is understandable but when it happens regularly, it really rubs me the wrong way). Dr. Yau has always seen me within 5 minutes of our appointment time. To me, that is yet another sign that he cares about his patients. I can't say enough good things about Dr. Yau and the office staff here. My only caveats (which are admittedly minor): no free parking or validated parking here, and no wi-fi in the office (bummer). Otherwise, this practice here is stellar. I consider myself super lucky to be a patient here.

It took me years to find a Dr that would take on new patients and to luck out and find the most amazing Dr in the city is just amazing! The reception is great, they are friendly and helpful. After being to a lot of clinics with extremely rude receptionists this really tips the scales in their favor! They always work with me to find an appointment that will suit my schedule which is really important for me since I don't live or work close to the office (but it's worth the travel!) I believe one of the locums I saw Dr. Bergman now works in the office as well so if you are looking for a male Dr he is also amazing!

He is very caring and takes his time with each person. I am aware that often you have to wait and sometimes it's a long wait but I plan for this but you know when it's your turn, you will get his full and undivided attention. I never feel rushed with him. I think I'd rather that than a doctor who is on time but feels rushed. I always have a phone call now if I don't need to come to the office because then I can go about my business and just take the call when it comes in.

The MOA's on staff can be a little snappy, but I don't doubt that they have a lot of difficult people to deal with on a daily basis. But other than that, Dr. Leung has always made me feel extremely comfortable and has legitimately listened to my concerns without brushing me off/trying to rush to the next patient. I have always been treated with the utmost respect and been granted referrals when I have asked; or been given a logical explanation if my request was not able to be granted. If anyone is looking for a family practice in the Champlain 'hood, I would highly recommend Dr. Leung and the rest of the staff at Collingwood Medical!
