We moved into a brand new home a year ago. The front lawn had been laid on some less-than-ideal soil, so I signed up with Stewarts this spring. (I was thinking "I need a lawn service" and their truck drove past my house, so I figured that was a sign!) They've come out four times so far--once to aerate the lawns, which left quite a mess, and three times to spray. The technician is very nice and clean cut, but my lawn looks terrible. There are spreading yellow patches all over the front lawns (that weren't there before), and mushrooms in the back lawn. I mentioned the mushrooms to the technician and he said "that happens sometimes when the lawn is really wet." But we're in a drought and I'm watering only as often as permitted, so that didn't make sense. My neighbor told me yesterday that the front lawns look like they have grubs. Grub preventative is one of the things supposedly applied to my lawn two weeks ago. I called Stewart's today and they immediately scheduled a grub recall treatment for later this week, so I'm hopeful that the problem will be remedied. Terrible customer service. They supposedly preformed Aeration service at my home in March. I received no communication that is had been performed or a door tag hanger. I need received a $157 bill by email three months later in June. When I responded back that I did not believe the service had ever been performed. After several emails back and forth I never heard from them again, so I assumed they had taken care of the issue. Then a month and half later I received a collections notice. They finally waived the service fee, but it was a hassle and took me speaking very strongly. read more

As background. I first got signed up with Sav-A-Tree about five years ago and got sold soon thereafter on adding lawn service. Then the lawn services moved over to your sister company Stewart. About two weeks ago, I got a call while in the Middle East telling me that that my seasonal series were being terminated immediately because Stewart was losing money on every trip to our home. I invoked my larger relationship with Sav-A-Tree and made a plea to at least finish the season due to the totally unexpected and unwarranted inconvenience. I made clear that I understood the business decision, but neither understood nor appreciated the abrupt inconvenience. I also understand that Stewart was within their contractual rights to terminate, but made clear that the question of whether it was an ethical business decision was a completely different matter. The answer from the representative of Stewart's was a firm no. I made clear that this was not how a decent business should be run. I was disappointed, to say the least. I have begun to make alternative arrangements already, but want to raise this issue up the corporate ladder. This is not the way to run a customer focused business. Period. End of Story. So, the company responded a second time...no apologies, nothing, which is completely unacceptable for a customer facing company. I will continue to raise this issue up the corporate ladder until there is a resolution that is satisfactory. They don't get what I'm saying....which confirms how tone-deaf Stewart's is. We still get weeds like crazy, and they damage our plants with the big hose they drag around the yard. Destroyed 70 dollars in plants. They didn't say anything either. I had to down and prune them which impacted how that section looked. We reached out about it and they said do you have any pictures? We didn't because we pruned them down before the idea of documenting came to mind. they are in such a rush they are not doing a quality job. Makes me wonder if any other customers have plant damage as well. I think it's time to switch to a new company. read more

Edit: This company only pretends to be helpful after getting negative reviews on Yelp. Their response when I called in was the absolute opposite of being helpful. Let me specifically note that I asked for a respray in my call and they told me that they 100 percent refused to do so. Now only after posting this review, they are claiming that they provide resprays. Just amazing how much they suddenly care only after receiving a negative review. (End of Edit). When I first signed up for Stewart's, it was a good company. I have been a customer for years. They would thoroughly spray your lawn and if they didn't do a good job, they would come back. That is the only thing that made their very high prices worth it. However, in the last year or so, they have become a genuinely awful and unreliable company. I have repeatedly had weeds pop up because they do not do a thorough job and then when I ask them to re-treat the flower beds, it is an enormous hassle getting them to agree to come back and they fail to properly spray the weeds again. Today was the final straw. They arrived just before it started raining and left right when it was raining. When I texted them to make sure that would come back and complete the job, the office manager Nicole claimed that they had done the whole house. I informed them that I have cameras around my house and I had proof that the technician did not complete my yard. Regardless of my proffer to provide them the videos, she did not care at all. She said that she was certain that they did the complete yard. I also want to specify that the office manager Nicole in particular was particularly unhelpful. She could not care less about customers. It is amazing that a customer facing company would hire people who care so little about long-time customers. I want to promise you that if you use Stewart's, you will regret it. Avoid them like the plague. They are very highly priced, they could not care less about their customers or doing a good job. Please find a better service. read more

Stewart's claims with their 6 visit service they will fertilize, eliminate weeds, prevent crabgrass, eliminate damaging grubs, and give a total satisfaction guarantee. This is what their service looks like. I used their service to avoid having to spray the lawn myself, expecting that they would be able to manage my lawn care. And when I spoke with the service representative at the end of September, she mentioned that they may not be able to perform the 6th service - because they can't control the weather. I decided to choose Stewarts and compare them to the other insect companies I've used in the past. They always came on time, were thorough and sprayed again when I felt the first time wasn't right. My house was spider free nearly all summer! In past years, I had massive black widow infestations and was terrified of the garage where they resided. No matter what I tried, the black widows took over! Stewart's was able to take control of this problem and I'm pretty sure I'm bug free! Yeah! read more

Worst lawn company ever! If I hadn't gone with another company (lawngevity) first I wouldn't have anything to compare them to. 1. They said they spot treated my lawn instead of spraying the whole thing. ( they said this was standard) 2. I had them come out 5 times and they barely killed the dandelions 3. I wondered if they even sprayed at all. There was no evidence of them coming except for a bill 4. They have no money back guarantee. They will just keep coming back over and over with no results. Stewart's people come when they're supposed to, spray the lawn, and then disappear. Their default is to leave a little sign in the lawn, but they will stop doing it if you request. This is our second season with Stewart's and our lawn has never looked better. In fact, I can't imagine it looking better. When I follow their watering suggestions my lawn looks great, and with their discount for prepayment it hardly costs any more than it did when I did it myself. So, I decided to try their tree and shrub service this year. Wow! My shrubs have really perked up. I was concerned at one point because my roses were full of aphids, but it was right after a service call so I waited, and within a couple days they were gone and I haven't seen them since. 2 years later - just noticed I never completed this review. Must have been a novice with Yelp at the time. Stewart's is still great. My lawn has been green all summer and the trees and shrubs have never looked better. read more

I would normally have given Stewart's a 5 star rating because their service is good and prompt, and the spray they use is effective. However, after years of doing business with them, they say they don't want my business anymore. They have discontinued the option of the single visit service that I normally use and require me to sign up for 4 visits. Since I don't have a significant problem with undesirable insects, I prefer to keep the spraying to minimum to protect bees and beneficial bugs. I have ordered this service to eradicate wasps and elm seed bugs. I have never signed up for the multiple service option. I can't believe they will turn down my business because I only want a single application. Especially when they are already in my neighborhood. Oh well, I'll find another company who actually wants my business. read more

So I'm torn with Stewart's, they provide a fantastic service...your yard will never look better...BUT...BEWARE! Once you sign up with Stewarts they refuse to close your account and keep billing you...EVEN IF YOU MOVE AND NO LONGER LIVE AT YOUR PRIOR RESIDENCE! It's frustrating, I called and left a message stating that we were moving and no longer needed service...they didn't cancel. Unbeknownst to me and without consent nor approval they continued to service my old address, effectively giving the new tenants a great looking lawn and free service...and then billing it to me! Come on Stewarts...do the right thing!!! Now they're sending me to collections because I refuse to pay. Nice Stewarts...real nice! So if you sign up be aware if they make a mistake by not canceling your service when requested they are going to continue to bill you for a service even after you move and give the service to others at your cost! read more

I called Stewarts Pest Control after moving into my brand new home that it was infested with ants and discovered we had black widow spiders in the area; they were able to come the next day. They arrived, wore booties and were polite and informative when asked about the process and chemicals being used. They assured me everything was pet and kid friendly and they went to work. The entire process took about 10 minutes to hit all floors of the house; they also did around the exterior foundation. Within hours of Stewarts leaving I noticed the ants were gone. It was awesome! I will definitely be calling them back in the spring to maintain my pest free home. read more

Beware. Contracts automatically renew the next year and they charge for coming out even without requesting. They also killed our flowers in the front flower bed with their sprays. We had to continually call them to come back for weeds even after they sprayed. I finally gave up and sprayed the weeds myself (it was easier than having to keep calling them). read more

We began service with stewarts. They never sprayed because they said the backyard had a lock on it which they were given the code to the gate. We called them to reschedule which they were a week out so we went with someone else and a month later we are still waiting for a refund check that they keep saying its printed out and will be going out in the mail. Stewarts Pest Control offers a $59 per visit deal 6 times a year. We cancelled after the 2nd service. There was nothing wrong with the services, they did what they said they would do, and sprayed the exterior of our home. What we couldn't look past, was the carelessness of the technician who did not close the fence to our backyard. We always keep this closed for our small dog to play outside, and the technician had to open the fence to get to the backyard, but did not leave it the way he found it and our dog ran away. We eventually found her, but it caused us a lot of unnecessary stress (as fellow pet owners will know too well). read more
