I needed a new low maintenance yard since the house was going to be occupied by my son and 3 other college boys. It was like he read my mind. Remove a couple trees, remove all old sod and top soil, remove old sprinkler systems... Build a French drain over here, add a rock wall over there, add drip lines in the new mulched areas, add liner and Chad in the gaming areas, add new sprinkler lines, quality top soil and sod... We shook hands and agreed on a price and a tight time frame. I needed him done by August 8 when the kids return to school. He was able to move a couple clients around (sorry if that was you) and he already got it done!!!!! Best part is he installed a new wi-fi sprinkler controller, programmed it, and set it up on my sons phone! Easy peasy! I'll definitely use Frankie and SLC Scapes on my next house! They came to cut down a VERY large Evergreen pine tree--72 years old and about 100 ft tall. They worked with the power company because our electrical connection to the power lines prohibited chopping it down easily. When the power company missed appointments set to address the issue, it threw a monkey wrench into their ability to take care of us as they wanted. But they weren't thwarted. Though it took a more circuitous route, they effectively took huge branches off, then felled the main trunk. Finally, they cleaned up all the leavings. They were excellent at what they did. They exhibited creativity in crafting solutions for such a daunting problem in a small space. They were very respectful in all their communication. We would highly recommend this team. This company has literally charged my card for Thousands of dollars worth of services we never were given. For example, they charged for sprinkler services for several hundred dollars in the dead of winter when sprinklers were off. Shame on me for not auditing my credit card statements in time for the credit card company could go get my money back. In addition, I was charged for $2000.00 by another landscaping company located in Illinois. They do. not have anyone. here in utah and I NEVER even heard of them. I do not know how they got my credit card number, but I have my suspicions of blatant fraud. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY.

In 2013 Elite Hardscapes did an over $30k paver job in our backyard. Before the project we asked if…read morewe could flip the pavers so the smooth side was up. Chris, the owner, said he hadn't done this before but said he would do his homework. He came back to us and said he could flip them. They were installed that way and sealed. A few months later we had stains all over the pavers that looked terrible from water. We contacted Chris and he said it was a result of the salt from the pool. We knew that was not the case and paid to have a few other professionals come to give us their opinion. They said it was the sealant not the pavers. After a lot of persuasion we finally got Chris to show up with the paver company and the sealant company and they admitted it was the sealant. In addition, when they put the cement caps on the tops of our walls, they rolled paint on these and this paint started pealing and chipping. The other professionals who came said they had never seen such a thing. Chris said he would replace these but said we had to pay for the caps and he would cover the labor. After stripping the sealant and applying it again, we had the same issue. They stripped it again and said this was the last time they would do this and could not guarantee it wouldn't happen again. He tried to get us to just leave it unsealed. He said it could only be guaranteed if the pavers were flipped to the rough side up. He said we would have to pay $15,210 to have this done because we were the ones who chose to have the pavers flipped. He's the professional and had he told us we might have issues, we would never had the pavers installed the way they were. I told him I didn't think I should have to pay a penny but for the sake of just getting this over I said I would split it with him. He had a really hard time with this but said he would if we again paid for the new caps (that replaced the painted ones) and then paid for half the cost of stripping the sealant ($3,800). I agreed again just to get this over with. This was in January and Chris said he could probably start in March. In February we decided we were going to make changes to the pool, which would involve pulling out some of the pavers around the pool. Instead of having the pool company and Elite coordinate schedules I decided to pay the pool company to flip all the pavers and asked Chris to just pay me his portion of what we agreed to. He wouldn't do this and felt I was trying to get him to help pay for the pool work we were doing. After he made a bunch of excuses as to why he wouldn't do this, he offered to pay $3,000 and then have a few pallets of pavers sent to us. In addition, when they were stripping our pavers they chipped up some of our railings, which are now rusting.

It took him time to teach a pair of helpless (hopeless?) homeowners to be a bit more educated about how sprinkler systems work. But he was extremely willing to teach and kind about it. What makes me praise this man is that he answered a call that was posted to a public community forum. He could as well have given us some bogus issues and charge us for it. Instead, he presented himself to be a fantastic member of our community when he performed an unscheduled, same-day leak check. I'm not advertising he does this on a regular basis but he did so for us and we are grateful to the honest service he gave us on short notice.
