I was pleasantly surprised at the cleanliness of the shop and bathroom, for a gas station. We opted to grab something to eat here quick as well so we didn't have to stop again. Besides chips, beef jerky and beverages there was a quite a variety of options for a quick meal on the go for a gas station. There were some semi handmadeish frozen pre portioned meals, standard branded frozen options, a sandwich counter and some hot items packaged to go such as chicken fingers and breakfast sandwiches. We grabbed a wrap and chicken fingers. Neither was winning an award but the food was decent and pretty fresh. Far better than we would have expected. Since this is close to the military base I'm thinking the food turns over quickly.

Stewart's is more than just a gas station. They provide meals prepared at a pretty decent quality. They sell breakfast sandwiches such as sausage egg and cheese and even have a sandwich bar where you can create your own custom sandwiches. They also have a wide variety of frozen foods such as meal preps that just require few minutes of the microwave. With wide spectrum of snacks, desserts, and drinks to choose from, it's a very convenient place for Soldiers to make a quick pit stop to or during work! Stewart's also sells alcohol, so it saves you the trip to drive out all the way out to route 11 to grab alcoholic beverages. Overall a great convenient place that's military friendly.

Licks On 26 Ice Cream - Soft Serve Cones

Licks On 26 Ice Cream

New to the Carthage Area and directly across from the Carthage Central School District is "Licks On…read more26 Ice Cream". Big service and big value with a drive through as well. Our strawberry sundaes were on point. Another member of our party had a root beer float and was very good. Definitely going to be a regular stop. Several picnic tables outside to sit and plenty of parking as well.

They don't have a crazy selection. Their soft serve is pretty standard, and they do Hershey's brand for hard. I think we went here the most though until they closed for the season, for two main reasons. 1.) The staff. The staff never once let us down. They were always nice, friendly, and didn't make the routine disappointing mistakes that so many places make when they hire middle schoolers to run the place. We must have come here several dozen times and were never let down once. 2.) The stackers. Compare to Dashers from Carvel, it's just ice cream layered in toppings. The thing we usually end up talking people through at other ice cream places that don't offer these. There's only so much you can do with plain soft serve, but making them with hard ice cream gives you legit options. Reese's with Cappuccino Crunch gives you the peanut butter coffee combo I'm crazy about. After a few rounds of research, I settled on my finished product. Ice cream cake stacker with oatmeal cookie ice cream, adding a layer of peanut butter sauce. Whipped ice cream cake frosting, cookie layers in the middle, and of course the peanut butter wherever possible. I think at that point it's only about half ice cream. By the time we caught on they were closing, I got this at least a few times a week. Honorable mention goes to German Chocolate with the caramel and coconut crunch. The pumpkin one was pretty good once they put it on special. I started following their page on Facebook, because they occasionally did daily specials. They did no-bake cookie stackers, which people say was amazing. The best ice cream I've ever had was no-bake cookie flavored, and when I heard about this I was determined to get one. I would have called out of work to get it if I had to. Somehow I managed to miss it every single time. I'd just go the whole day without checking only to see it later that night. Next year I'll be ready. We just got settled in this year and didn't get to explore ice cream like we wanted to. I will say though, this place was one of the best, and I'm sad they're closed for the season.
