Highly recommend! The usual is was fresh and the menu options were almost limitless. I recommend trying as much as you can here to get the full effect of this very delightful establishment. The people, food and atmosphere were all perfect.

Fantastic ambient, attentive staff but really average food. Overall, my feeling is that this is a great place for dates, don't order too much food because the all the dishes taste a bit samey. I ordered 'eli tempura' as starter, which is a nice prawn tempura with a Thai twist, this is actually a decent dish. The 'robust' - an assortment of meal sticks plate and 'greenkeeper' - an assortment of vegetarian sushi, sticks, seaweed salad and broccoli. The best dish out of all is actually surprisingly the broccoli side, even then quite a few charred broccoli was burnt too much. Other dishes really were a bit too salty and the flavours too similar. I would probably still visit again, but only very occasionally and only to impress someone.

Exquisite Japanese restaurant on top of the Westgate. If you are a sashimi gourmet, save first some money cause it's not cheap but then spend a nice evening at this posh place where the dishes are fresh and delicious. The personnel is in addition really nice and the service efficient. If you want to spend a memorable evening, here is the place to start with.

Love this restaurant. They're visual menu is wonderful and I always have a blast picking out a mix of different small dishes. The crab croquettes are to die for and the wagyu beef skewer is worth the price. Lovely drinks menu as well. Highly recommend!!

The sushi here is incredible! I came here with my boyfriend on my last day at Oxford and loved the dishes we ordered! They not only looked divine but they were also extremely tasty and fresh. Definitely on the pricier side but truly worth it. The staff is also very kind :)

I expected to encounter difficulty in finding a table on a Tuesday afternoon (traditionally when…read more"The Inklings" would meet for their weekly congregations). Yet within minutes, my friend and I were escorted and seated at a table directly underneath several artifacts, photos and letters adorning the walls behind us, that once belonged to the literary giants (such as J.R.R. Tolkien, C.S. Lewis, and others) that once frequented this charming tavern. Once again (as was a frequent occurrence during my tour of the UK), I partook of the Shepherd's Pie and a glass of tomato juice (confession: I'm not much of a beer or ale imbiber; apologies for my ignorance to those who are true connoisseurs of the hopped and malted brews, and for the offense of ordering such an abomination in a pub...haha!). In truth, coming here was more of a pilgrimage for a life-long Tolkien aficionado, than anything having to do with drinking or eating. And yet, in raising a glass in toast to my literary heroes, in the hallowed halls where they once gathered, I felt warm sense of kinship, and thankfulness, for such an amazing opportunity.

The pubs is well lined with photos of the authors and it's a nice place to pause and wonder what these illustrious minds would have been drinking in their time. There are better pubs with better bears like The Turf Tavern, but still, the atmosphere makes this a great spot to pause, gather your thoughts and drink some real ale.
