This family friendly, totally volunteer museum survives on donations and is an amazing representation of not only the communities of Johnson County, but a glimpse into earlier times in Nebraska. Four large display areas are tastefully arranged including military, schools, communities, church, wedding dresses, barbershop, saloon, newspaper/printings and a newly installed one room school and agricultural building. Our docent, Jill Hahn, is one of the volunteers. Jill gave us a personalized tour and her passion and love for the community and museum were on display as much as the exhibits we viewed. My husband and I spent 90 minutes in conversation with Jill learning about the community and county. Everything is tastefully displayed, labeled and arranged. The classic storefront, easy to navigate location and ample parking make this museum even more inviting. There is a reason this museum is a 2022 stop on the Nebraska Passport Program. We are glad we stopped!

So glad we…read morewent, the exhibits are very well documented and span the range from missiles and bombs, to drones, bombers, tankers, fighters, helicopters, and lunar modules from WWII onward and even a prototype Artemis lander. Flight simulators, a theater continuously screening space and air related films, and lots of activities for the kids plus some outside exhibits and benches for enjoying the view round out the experience. The entrance to the museum is beautifully constructed with a SR-71 Blackbird hanging from the ceiling. Many of the exhibits were very unique aircraft including a Quail decoy for the B-52 bomber, one of only 2 XF-85 Goblin parasite fighter escorts ever built, an EC-235C Looking Glass lying command center, a B-58A (one of only 6 remaining) mid range bomber which was the first bomber to break Mach II, first to have stellar-inertial nav and first to have a stainless steel honeycomb structure, and the B-36J was really unique with 6 pusher engines plus turbojets - the largest bomber ever built, plus many more items.

Nebraska can do better than that by providing more exhibits relating to actual Nebraska history instead of just empty spaces not being used or simply an indoor playground for kids. At least the museum only took about an half hour to go through which makes this an option for people who are time-strapped.
