Went here based off the recommendation of our tour guide and I really enjoyed it. The staff was definitely not the friendliest and I don't think they love tourists which in a tourist centric town probably isn't the greatest identity to have. The food was super delicious. I got the pork schnitzel which was really great with the cranberry. Honestly there were so many dishes that looked so good to eat but I wasn't sure what was what. There were different languages available for the menu which was nice, I wish there were maybe some photos to go with them. I also wish the drink menu had other languages. To start, the Tiroler Jausenteller was a plate of assorted Tirolean appetizers including smoked bacon, Tirolean cheese, cold roast pork, horseradish, a spread of lard, and a sausage spread, all served with brown bread. We also had the trio of dumplings, which came with a spinach, onion, and cheese dumpling, each of which was doughy, chewy, and cooked with butter and Parmesan cheese, which added a nice salty flavor. A very boisterous beer hall, with tasty traditional food. We came here cold and hungry after a hike, and we left very satisfied! For super amazing beer and food, Stiftskeller is the place to be in Innsbruck. I'm a forever fan of the beerhall and this one is unique and legit with lots of history on its walls. People rave about the Beef Goulash which was pretty good, but I can only eat a few bites of it before it overwhelms my taste buds. You must definitely try their dumplings. I recommend getting the dumpling sample (3 different ones) and wash it down with a liter of their well-crafted brew. Places like these are what makes Europe so great. read more

They are hardly distinguishable, but good local beer just the same. Next time, Weissbier. I had 893 Six grilled sausages with sauerkraut and mustard. It was delicious. I had a tough one with this. We were so thankful they found us a table. They actually gave us the last table. They sat the two of us at an 8/10 person table. We were starving, and good came out within 10 minutes of ordering. Waiter was jovial and happy to give us recommendations. The one thing is that while the food was good, it wasn't stellar, but that may just be that I don't appreciate Austrian/Tyrolean food? The service at this restaurant is terrible! It took longer than 30 minutes to get our food and others got their food before we did. Our hostess sat my husband and I down then a waitress came and took our order. We did get our starters quickly but noticed other people who order after us got their food before we did. We never saw our waitress after she took our order! We asked a waiter if he could tell us where our food or waitress was and he answered " I don't know." Then our food finally came and we told that waiter who brought our food to table about our problem and he said " I don't know about your order but here's your food!" When we finished our meal, we waited for our bill, but our waitress never came, so we went to the bar area to pay. We told that lady about our food ordeal but she did not care and she said " I don't know!" She called the waiter who we originally told our problem to and he checked us out. We will never come to this restaurant again and we DO NOT RECOMMEND this restaurant at all. Great food from the region but if your a tourist visiting this is certainly a different type of place. First there is not an obvious entry point to be greeted fir a table. First come first table but several entry points. For an American this is very strange. No order or line, no name taking, etc. After going in circles for a while we ordered a beer and ask how we can get table. 15 minutes later we found our spot inside as the temps were cool this night. The food was great but service slow. Even after the plates were removed it took a long time to get someone to take desert order. With that said the food was good. Despite this being a large place with a sprawling outdoor patio, the service was reasonably quick and attentive. The food came out exceptionally quickly and was very tasty across the board. The only reason I don't give a 5 is only because of service. The food is delectable. In my only 3 days in Innsbruck, I went here once every day! Authentic and delicious! Be sure to have the apfel strudel with custard. TO DIE FOR. I also had the schnitzel and goulash and rosy pork. All fantastic and filling meals; however, the service was annoying. The waitresses always seemed to be bugged with us and rushed us. There was attitude. Once we saw a waitress leave a group table and throw her platter down on the ground out of frustration. We showed up here on a busy summer evening. It was crowded, and we knew what we were up against. That being said the staff was punctual, friendly, and the food was amazing! We were out on the patio and started with a big old beer. As we were letting our legs rest from exploring the city we just sat back and enjoyed the people watching. There was music playing and people dancing in some kind of street show. I ordered the Käsespätzle and sausage. It was pretty amazing! After we finished the staff was quick with our bill. I would go back to this place hands down! If they can get us in and out with a smile on our faces on a day like that, I have to recommend them! Great job folks! read more

This place is not a restaurant - it's a factory! We arrived here at around 20:00 o'clock and had to wait for a while, the waitress said we could sit in the "Bierkeller" or wait. As everybody smoke in pretty much any other room but that we decided to stay because my friends were too hungry to look for anything else. So after a long while we were finally able to sit, took them a little time to approach us- but when you're hungry everything looks like forever. We just had to take over a table, none of the crew members didn't help us. So why factory you ask? Because once we ordered, it took less than 5 minutes for the food to arrive. The food was quite decent compared to the size of this place and my expectations- We took a wiener veal schnitzel that was really good. Beef goulash that was well cooked and very tender. And for the first time - cheese Spätzle that was tasty! I haven't tried it for many times... But when I did it was not too good. The dishes are quite big and the prices are good compared to this place (I found it rather touristy) And the best thing of them all - they have Augustiner kegs! This beer is even better when not bottled. For dessert we had a chocolate cake that was not too bad but we could've skip it. And to sum it all up- the service could have been better but everything else was pretty good, was expecting a lot less, if you don't want to leave the touristy area this is a pretty good choice! read more

Ok, if your starving and nothing else is open, all you have open is this place, I guess it's better than sucking on ketchup packets and eating peanut M&Ms from the hotel vending machine. On second thought, go for the vending machine. PROs - The half chicken was very good. SO IS EL POLO LOCO AT HOME. We got the chicken as a back up since we were worried about the quality of the "Authentic Austrian Food". That paid off, see CON list. CONS - Everything else. The beer was weak and bland. The Wurster Platter was 3 sad little food colored Oscar Myers tinny wiennies. The pretzel tasted totally bland and the mustard sample came in little packets like my Delta flight. Please excuse any typing errors as my hand cannot stop waving the flys away, they seem to be enthralled with the cuisine. The place was filled with locals, so we though that was a good sign. As we pondered and chewed our meal, searching for some flavor not removed by the microwave in the kitchen, we came to the realization that the locals are all here drinking because it was the only place open on Sunday. None were eating. Good lesson, observe the locals, but much more closely next time. read more

You'd expect Gandalf and his hobbit friends making merry in this bustling place. The room, or rather, hall is very spacious. Great for large groups. Boiled beef 4/5 - I was in the mood for something guilt free. Beef is a little plain (but I mean, it's boiled), but the spinach is the bomb. I love spinach. Tirrolean Kedgeree 5/5 - the saltiness of the potato mixes well with the meaty taste of the fish. Great tryolean dish. They've got a huge variety of dishes on the menu, and a section of local food. OK, I have to say, when we first walked into this restaurant we were completely confused. It's not like you walk in through the front door and someone seats you. There are many hallways and rooms. No host. There are so many different rooms in this restaurant, and it was hard to find any staff who wasn't running around to give us a quick minute to tell us what the process was to get a table. Eventually we found ourselves in a random room upstairs and sharing a table with another couple. To this day, I'm guessing that you just find a table and sit, because that's what we ended up doing. I started off with a green salad. I think they forgot the dressing, because it was basically wet mixed greens. I was so hungry at that point, I just ate it. For lunch, I ordered the weiner schnitzel with boiled potatoes. It came with a little jar of (what I believe to be) cranberry compote. Whatever it was, along with the lemon juice I squeezed onto my veal was delicious. The potatoes were, well, boiled potatoes. No flavor - so I just ate some to break up the bite after bite of meat. Hubby ordered a roast pork with gravy that came with a pretzel dumpling. He wasn't too crazy about it, but in my hungry phase, I thought it was very good. The pork was very tender and the dumpling very unusual - gravy was very tasty as well. All in all, a good meal. Would I recommend? Yes - but of course, if we find ourselves in Innsbruck Old Town again, we have to try another place. read more
