Versatility and talent beyond compare After reading all the glowing reviews of Michael Tiernan's musicianship my wife and I felt honored to be able to make a date with him to provide the music for a party at The Thursday Club in Point Loma. The party was partially a 50th anniversary but mostly a celebration of great friendships of many years. He did an incredible job of playing songs that were the perfect complement to the changing dynamics of the entire evening. We had quite a journey in our wedding planning process (thanks in large part to COVID) and had to pivot to a small, 30-person, outdoor ceremony and reception. About a month before the wedding we asked Collin if he had ever played a certain song acoustic; he quickly got back to me and told me he hadn't but he loved the idea so he was going to put something together and send it to us. Well, the final product was AMAZING and we ended up having him play it for our first song. We found out about SLP from a preferred vendor list provided by our wedding venue, The Crossings at Carlsbad. We looked at others' reviews, their website, listened to samples, etc. and the decision was easy to hire Michael! We live in Phoenix so didn't get the chance to see him live at any local shows beforehand, but we had no reservations whatsoever. We interacted with Dylan in the beginning who helped us figure out what we were looking for and provided a lot of helpful info. Closer to our wedding, we decided on a first dance song, which Michael learned for us so he could play it live. The original song was a tad long so Michael was able to cut it down and provide us with a recording so we could practice our dance to it. We were so grateful for that! Michael did an absolutely fantastic job with the music at our wedding. During the cocktail hour and dinner, Michael played the guitar and sang. He was fantastic, and we received compliments from several guests about the quality of his performance. Michael also played our first dance songs live. He had not previously performed the songs that we selected, but was enthusiastic to learn them and even sent us videos performing the songs we picked in advance of the wedding. During the party portion of our reception, Michael DJ-ed and kept the energy of the evening high. He did a great job selecting songs that we loved with very little guidance/input. At the end of the evening, he had the great idea to play Sweet Caroline live, and got everyone to sing along (he knew that a lot of our wedding guests were from Boston and this was a huge hit). We cannot recommend Michael more highly--he went above and beyond to make our wedding special, did a great job of keeping things on track throughout the evening, and was a pleasure to work with. read more
